Well . . . I have only seen two "U.F.O's" over the years, one was clearly earth made, and the other I also feel was.
I've noticed some quoting of "experts" in some posts. Let me see someone who is flying one, and gives me a ride in one, then I would consider them somewhat of an expert, but intill then, I say that the sharing of ideas here and other places helps to cause some to do more thinking and learning of the subject.
If I had the answers I would most readily share them with one and all, but I don't! Just trying to see what I can find out, and to sift it with all the other that I've gotten, then decide as to what I want to truly consider.
Keep up the sharing, it is truly very interesting to read.
Over the years I've seen mention of Triangle, Round, and Cigar shaped UFO's, some have a dome, some don't others have windows, some don't, I just wonder why the changes?

I find that there definately is a change. It would have to be more than one at work here. It's a mix. You got human craft and alien craft. Then what about different countries like Russia and China? They too would surely have their own.

If you took a look at the recent ATS thread on new triangle craft caught on film. Take a look at it closer. It looks like the Aurora or some advanced stealth bomber. It rounder in shape at some key areas. It could be Russian. Whens the last time you heard of the Aurora craft. The black triangle that runs on mercury and silver? That was years ago. If that's still under wraps projects like these are probably full blown.

Think of the advances that could of been made from traveling in these new craft and going interstellar. I'm confident they made contact with another world or the creator of this one (if their still alive).

So yes definately advanced. Human and Alien. And there are many of them. Perhaps too many of them. Sort of like how the automobile is today. They keep making new models in shorter runs.

I was just about to make a pretty identical thread, thought I better search and found this one, so I'll post here.

Ive been looking at a lot of UFO pics, and something that stands out to me is how what UFOs "look like" over the decades, has changed with society and also with how movies depict them.

Go back several centuries and look at UFO pics, and - compared to today's "standard", they look laughable, they (mostly) just dont look real at all.

Now if you look at "movie UFOs" from the 60s/70s/80s for example, you will see a striking resemblence between the movie UFOs, and the "real life" UFO pics. Now an argument could be made that the movies were inspired by the "real" UFOs, and thats how they based their designs. The problem is, as you fast forward to the 90s/2000, we see similar patterns.

Movie UFOs in the "present day" are smoother, sleeker, faster, "less obvious" (flattened compared to ice cream tub shape with legs and hundreds of flashing lights).

So did real life influence movies? Or did movies influence real life (and the fakers)? Thats a side point.

Now you may think Ive gone off topic, but I haven't, all of this has a point.

While movies have evolved, and developed, so has our own technology, both for creating special effects in movies, and of course, in the real world technology has improved tenfold.

My first thought when contemplating making a thread on this, was that the designs of UFOs has evolved pretty much equally with our own technology, so therefore the majority of cases are likely fake, based on our own technology and interpretations. (Case in point, look at 50s movies and what they expected the future to be like, we should be in flying cars by now! etc)

I could argue that "alien technology" has evolved at the same pace as ours, which is of course, entirely plausible, but I just dont see it. Can we really beleive that an alien species technology design has mirrored the design of human transport vehicles for the last 50+ years? To me, this just seems far too unlikely.

Now of course, that only covers the faked UFO sightings/photos, and possible alien UFOs. When considering UFOs that are manmade, its a whole other story. Strangely enough, they've kept up with what technology was available to us at any given time. Admittedly the public didnt know about it early on - which coincides with the time when UFOs were seen with all kinds of bells and lights on.

I think Ive rambled on long enough, Im not sure parts of it even made sense. Apologies if parts are unreadable, but I think it all makes sense (to me anyway! )

One thing I will add is, I have not read the thread through yet, I just wanted to get my reply down first, so I wouldnt be "influenced" by other's posts. I'm off to read the thread now, so apologies if I repeated anything thats already been said.

I concur 100%. I had similar things in mind when I originally posted this thread. It doesn't just stop at UFO's though. For example, after the Matrix was released, I found that suddenly, people were talking about living in a Matrix. David Icke comes to mind immediately with his book "Children Of The Matrix".

I think the Hollywood Desensitization conspiracy lends somewhat to this. The presupposition that Hollywood writers are getting the good oil from secret organizations to prepare us for whatever.

Personally, I have trouble buying it.

There is an uncanny relationship between culture, social evolution and the way UFO's have been reported through the years. Makes you stop to ponder doesn't it. However I believe there is a small nucleus of truth to the UFO/Alien phenomena but sadly, the movement is FULL of the "me too" bandwagon jumpers looking for their 15 minutes of fame (if you can call it that). A shame really because it muddies the waters and sullies the name of serious UFOlogy.

As a side note, I find it interesting that the clunky VW's arrived here before the Porches (colorful metaphor). How could that be? Who would have ever thought that the ice-cream tubs were faster eh.. lol!

Wow, I've been looking for a thread EXACTLY like this one. It has always amazed me how modern UFOlogy appears to mimic Hollywood or at least our current cultural biases towards technology. There is definitely much more to this phenomena that most imagine and InfraRedMan, You thread here has hit the nail right on the head.

I love your posts, they are always logical and insightful and challenge the norm. I'm sure what you say is not always popular amongst many here but I certainly admire you for your strength and conviction. It's because of people like you that I have decided to become a member. I look forward to mixing it up with you in the threads.

Thankyou so much for your compliments! A rarity here! lol!! It was a surprise to see this oldish thread on the front page again. I agree, it's definitely a phenomena that people should investigate a bit more thoroughly but it requires a bit of introspection which most aren't prepared to do because it may mean letting go of a Pet theory here and there.

It is interesting how UFO design has progressed over time. Once clunky looking objects that had no right to be in sky, are now slipstreamed sports models. I know I've said it before but it amazes me how the Volkswagons arrived before the Porches.

I think the main reason for this is hoaxers. They use what technology and design is available at the time and that's why it tends to mimic Hollywood (as you put it). I guess that kind of means that most UFO images are hoaxes or back engineered tech. The saucer shape is stil around though so perhaps those are the real ones? Who knows eh!

eh I dunno maybe its different critter controlling them. Maybe its the same critters flying different models.
In reference to the question; why come at all when they could send drones. Maybe they have some cultural taboo against it. Just a theory.
I tend to think they are just as flawed as the rest of us and have their own prejudices and superstitions as the rest of us.

Good points sacerd, I think Nohup had the same hypothesis that many of the UFO sightings may be RC Vehicles. However I still believe that UFO's to a certain degree have mirrored our own technology (in a nuts & bolts sense).
Earlier photo's of UFO's look antiquated in their design to match the era and todays UFO sightings appear to be mirror (to a certain degree) todays technology and design ethic. We are all hi-tech now as are the UFO's we see in our skies... increasingly so.

Thanks for your input mate. It's always great to hear other peoples opinions because I believe that within the sum of us, we can find our way to the heart of the truth.

IRM, this is indeed an interesting thread, that nearly died!

Glad it has been resurrected. Ship designs seem to vary, according to purpose. As has been probably pointed out, a smooth 'aerodynamic' shape is not needed in the vacuum of space. However, there may be a functional reason for transitting through 'warps' or whatever method is used to cross vast distances between star systems. Not sure there are English words, yet, to describe the methods.

I would suspect that the smaller vessels are, not interstellar, but brought by larger vessels. Think of the 'shuttlecraft' from Star Trek....same concept, different tech. So what I just wrote in the preceding paragraph is pure speculation....

AND...various species, with different technologies....without a reference, we can just continue to speculate....

I would like to add that NOwhere in this thread have I seen any mention of the golden sphere ufo.

I have seen this thing up close.. first hand.. It came within 3 feet of our vehichle and was moving parralel to us as it passed before shooting up at an angle and then taking off rather quickly out of site.

It was about the size of a compact car but it was a perfect gold metallic sphere that had no lights although it did seem to have a radiance about it.. but no external lights visible. It made no noise and had no propulsion visible. it left no wake or exhaust.

Just to add, it seemed, from your post, it was daylight when you saw this sphere. Size of a compact car, so about 10 to twelve feet in diameter?

Could very well have been an unoccupied 'vehicle'.....a machine used for whatever purpose.

I ask, because, if it was just a machine, and if you sensed no 'presence', as in, another living being, then it was lilkely a machine of some sort. For what purpose? Who can guess?

It was nighttime at a drive in theatre and my whole family saw it. Including some cousins that were with us. we all turned to each other and said what the heck was that.

no fear, just wonder I suppose.

I have had other sightings.. I cannot say I have ever felt any fear during any of them. To me it felt like they were just trying to get our attention then they took off. like hey look. we are here,, then boom we are gone. lol

It's quite possible that what your saying is close to the mark weedwhacker in regards to UFO's being somewhat like shuttlecraft (ala star trek). Perhaps that could explain why a thunderstorm was able to down one over Roswell in 1947?

People often say, "They had the ability to fly across the Galaxy and now you expect me to believe that the second they got here they were taken out by a measly lightening strike?"

Perhaps they aren't interstellar?

But then again I doubt the size of the craft could really determine it's function and whether they are indeed 'manned' or capable of interstellar journeys. Our technology and understanding still has a way to go IMHO!

My experience transformed me from being someone that found the phenomena interesting to being a "believer" of the phenomena.

I'd love to hear your thoughts on my sighting... well not exactly my sighting as I was with my girlfriend, plus there were many others that saw it from other locations.
