Anyone ever thought of the possibility that one of Irans black market suppliers finally fulfills their promise & provides them with an operational nuke and then ""somehow", it manages to go off. I can see the headlines now, "Iranian nuclear accident kills thousands". Don't be concerned about US buildup in the area, be concerned when they make a rapid pullout.

Even worse than spontaneous fallout, at this point, you could be looking at REM induced sleep comas. As in curies and curies of exposure.

Ain't no one saying they got's ta' blow up something. Radiation poisoning would do , just fine , at this point. Could happen.

Wow, so we're activley releasing statements that says officially we are engaging Iran... one way or another.

havent we been lately, anyway?

Are they telling us we should start expecting other events to occur in relation to this statement?

Is the following

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (AP) — Ships packed with 17,000 sailors and U.S. Marines moved into the Persian Gulf Wednesday as the U.S. Navy staged another show of military force off Iran's coast — just days before the U.S. start of direct talks with Iran in Baghdad.

related to these covert actions?

The number is as you say 'bogus' as the true number is now probably nearing one million in excess Iraqi deaths.

The problem is that ignoring a oncoming train has never prevented anyone from getting smashed.
Sticking your head in the ground may prevent it from getting blown off but then one can not survive without the rest , that is still in the firing line, for very long.

Does two wrongs make a right? Its the what ifs that get me. What if Iran, after hearing this report or reading it, decides to punish us be taking hostages or kills Americans already in Iran in retaliation.

Should one not ask what those Americans are doing in Iran without a war having been declared or allowed by the US senate? Since when does the American constitution allow for the American head of state to commit Americans to war without involving the American public?

Does the reporter bear any responsibility for that? Actions have consequences.

Actions do have consequences and that is why America should stop antagonizing the majority of the worlds population. Was overthrowing the overthrowing of the Mossadegh government not bad enough and why do you expect the US government keeps demanding democracy while overthrowing democratically elected rulers they consider enemies of their ( not the American publics ) interests?

Perhaps the blame lies solely with the person who leaked the information legally, but morally? If a Police Officer leaks to me they are investigating my neighbor and I leak that to the neighbor who arms himself and kills the officer; am I responsible.

If the police officer sneaks into that house without a warrant your neighbour may in fact defend himself if he believes his life is being threatened. Since the Americans that may now be operating in Iran are there without the consent of the American people( or congress as far as i can tell) they may be considered terrorists and treated as such.

Yes, I think I would share guilt. I see this as being the same thing.

This has been an interesting conversation, but I need to get some work done. You gave me a couple of things to ponder. Thanks.

You are very much responsible for endangering the lives of Americans but then so are they for endangering America citizens by operating against a foreign country without your consent. At least they KNOW that they are risking their lives and acting in morally questionably way but when did they ever give you the choice of involving yourself in a war with Iran?

It is my belief that if anyone is at fault here, it's the US government putting lives in danger because they can't keep a secret.

That is of course if you believe that this is a real unintended leak.

And that is an excuse to expose any possible military action and risking the lives of U.S. soldiers?

This is the same as that article which came out about a year ago about U.S. agencies staking out Al Qaeda cells in the U.S., and it was secret until the newspaper (forgot which one it was) decided to post that information for everyone to see.

I won't even go into crazy stuff like freedom of the press, the press being the "PEOPLE'S" watchdog or many of the other intentions of a free press. Let me go into sme of the NEO-CON spouting bullcrap going on in this thread. Not a scret anymore and how could ABC do such a thing as risk national security and prnt a story leaked by ROVE. OOOPS did I say it outloaud again.

ABC before airing this story said that they gave both the Whitehouse and the C.I.A. notice and 6 days to tell them not to, NEITHER DID. I wonder why?? First off it means it wasn't National Security or "SECRET" secondly it makes me think FALSE FLAG. Maybe they float some crap like this in hopes that IRAN will buy it and strike the US first, probably one of the 50 ships off their coast and then Bushies can claim we were attacked. This is a familiar tactic of Bushies. The Iranians did not fall for it nor did I, I see some can not say that.

The fact that the "secret" was leaked to the public indicates that this by itself was the operation, most likely done as a psychological warfare tactic against Iran, simply to invoke suspicion, even paranoia from within their government, to throw them off balance.

Successful intelligence operations should be felt, not heard.

This story about the covert operation on Iran is mentioned at Congressman Jim McDermott's website. The story says that "U.S. officials deny any "direct funding" of Jundullah groups but say the leader of Jundullah was in regular contact with U.S. officials." It's strange but an August 2004 article (from Newsline Publications in Karachi-Pakistan) indicates that Jundullah has close ties with Al-Qaeda..... very strange indeed..........

Guess what? Nations use propaganda against us every day of the week.

I had no idea the owners of CNN/BBC/Reuters/ABC/CBS/MSNBC were owned by nations hostile to the US. In fact as far as i know their owned by American corporations... Are American corporations trying to destroy the United States?

Lets see if you can make sense of that by applying your particular brand of twisted logic.

Chavez gives away discount oil to some of our citizens.

What do you think that is, altruism?

It's cheap oil that heats homes and fuels cars that might be used to drive people to hospitals. If this is how 'evil terrorist' work to subjugate the world their bound to do very very well. Would you rather have them bring 'democracy', like in Iraq, to the US by using gunships and tanks firing not so depleted Uranium shells?

You know your dealing with a fanatic when gifts ( and we are not talking flowers or chocolate) are seen as some kind of hostile act.

Don't fall for the naive rhetoric that says we're the only ones who use propaganda.

No sane informed person would but i suppose it's hard to keep fanatical followers in line when your not constantly telling them how and what to think.

The problem with US propaganda is how commonly it's acted on and based solely on that one can only shake your head when the Iranian president rightly exposes US crimes and how he wants to 'handle' it with the quite strategically impotent Iranian Armed forces. Unlike Americans Iranians may rightly be VERY worried when similar things are being said in Washington and it's quite telling that you are attempting to turn the victims into the violent aggressors.

if i were to guess what would happen, i would say that iran will not take kindly to the actions of whoever is doing the operations over there. my first guess would be that isreal would get hit first, then the usa , who is already over there and plans to double the troops over there for the onslaught of the iranian president to let all hell break loose in the gulf with his friends of oil to cut off the united states of. the covert operations mentioned and is only mentioned on t.v, because it is part of the show of force the usa has and can control the situation even if they know, it is only to provoke a situation to occurr that can not be put a blame anywhere but to the aggressor.also this manipulation of currency is to cut off the supply of finances to his nuclear program. i hope the irannian president does not get a hold on this technology, cause it will reak havvok in todays world. the bomb itself will be deadly, but the technology they learn from it will be even more devestating. everything today is run on electronics, take that away and you are left with what. nnnothing. no farming equipment, no transportation of food, goods, and so on. it is back to the horse and buggy days litterally. this nut in iran has no idea what he is dealing with. we have this technology now , if he wants to send it over here , he has a very rude awakening , or burden on the onslaught that will occurr when he does.

That's already happening.

Terrorism should not be tolerated

And the best way to get rid of terrorism would be to disarm the United States which have not been involved in much other than terrorism since they 'saved' Germany from Hitler and his wall street funders.

As far as the Iranians viewing the U.S. as terrorists? Of course they do...we are the 'great satan' according to them.

And also the leading sponsors and creators of atrocities on this planet. based on the actions of the US national security state/mechanism i have little reason to disagree with those who calls them the "great Satan'. I would in fact argue that Satan have a great deal to learn and might do well reading declassified CIA and state department documents if he ever runs out of ideas on how to terrorize and kill tens of millions of defenseless people all around the world.

So, you like to dismiss them all as idiots?

For now i will stick to you....

Much like you probably dismiss the WTC hijackers as idiots as well?

I would argue that anyone who still believes in WTC hijackers should be dismissed as a idiot....

I won't argue that they are idiots, but they are also terrorists when they are calling for the destruction of the United States.

Calling for the destruction of a the largest terrorist state in recorded human history can hardly be considered anything but sane. We could discuss what various groups might mean by 'destruction' ( i, for instance, would be more than happy with the CIA, USAF and USN disbanded) of the US but that's just about the extent of the disagreements i can stomach. The current US government and foreign policy is inconsistent with a worthwhile future for humanity and we best get those involved out of their positions of power.

And Iran just happens to have two leaders that applaud this type of behavior and that also lead the masses into it.

Compared to the current US regime the Iranian one is completely inept and childish at their 'practice' of state terrorism and anything related to it and one wonders how the effect of their 'terrorism' could be any less ineffectual.

If you want see terrorism and terrorist in action switch on CNN and keep track of US foreign policy.

Therefore they are motivated even more to seek action through their words. Iran has already been connected in support of several terrorist organizations and that's simply now a fact whether people like to face it or not.

Connected in some instances but how on Earth can that be compared to the US government that is the largest and most effective terrorist organization on the face of this Earth?

Terrorism has left it's mark everywhere in the world.

Mostly due to the fact that US national security state have sent ships&aircraft&soldiers everywhere and in many hundreds of instances remain there to this day.

As the Islamofascists gather recruits to join them in their mission against infidels across the globe, it only continues to grow.

The best way to avoid creating enemies is to stop killing their women, children and countrymen in general. This is especially true if they never attacked your family, friends or country in general.

How could anyone not take it seriously when islamo-based terrorism has left millions of people dead?

They probably would if 'islamofacist terrorism' have left millions dead. Since they have not it's quite interesting that we have to listen to so much propaganda that attempts to convince us of such lies.

The only ones trying to undermine this threat is the liberal media, and their treasonous agenda against the United States

What liberal media? Is it your contention that the rabidly conservative/reactionary owners of the American media are running 'liberal media's? Why do you believe the right wing media presenters when they rail against the 'liberal' control of the media? Are you so easily fooled?

Oh and let's not forget all those conspiracy theorists that think they are involved in some underground movement against our government despite their baseless claims.

!

As far as personal involvement, well yes there is..and frankly that's where I'll leave it. Though I will say that one does not have to be in combat units nuccessarily to provide the U.S. military and govt with support against terrorists.

Best to 'support' one's government from the safety of your own house while the go around the world killing and starving to death tens of millions. If everyone supported their government in this empty way we might in fact be better off. Maybe we could start a campaign to get all American soldiers back to their homes where they might aid you in your brave struggle against tyranny.

I don’t agree with everyone who seems to think that divulging this information is a treasonous act, first of all have you noticed, despite what they may tell you America has no friends left in the world… don’t misunderstand me I truly do love America and what it stands for, I mean that and I speak from my heart.
However your present administration is corrupt in the most insidious ways I do believe that they manipulate your media, I do believe that they instigated 911 in order to gain a foothold within the Middle East. There is a reason the whole world is against America, don’t be so quick to assume that it is jealousy or contempt; do you really think it is just the rest of the world that is wrong???
Or maybe there is something to what the world is saying…. Have you noticed you can hardly get any news in America, you only hear about Britney spears hoo hoo or what Paris Hilton wearing

Its funny but when I was taking economics back in 92 I remember our teacher telling us that within the next ten years we will be in the middle east in order to secure the oil reserves and be able to project our influence eastward toward the growing economic powers in the east… the creepy part was her mentioning Afghanistan and how that country represented the most important geo strategicall point “ a gate if you will “ and how this region was crucial to our dominating the middle east, and how before any action would be taken anywhere within the middle east we would have to secure this country first of all ( if anyone doubts this, look at history, all of the worlds super powers have had their fingers in Afghanistan Alexander the great was well aware of the importance of the silk route, he set up the capital of his empire there ) the French were there and the British and the Russians and now America.

Did I mention our economic teacher used to work for the M.O.D ……Look fact of the matter is we don’t have all the facts, we don’t know what goes on behind the scenes but when world leaders go out on record and call your president “THE DEVIL” you should listen you don’t have to agree but good God they are all doing it.

I miss the old America peace liberty and freedom for all, I miss growing up during the cold war one enemy 1 good guy, and I thanked God we were on Americas side (im British) back then I had a deep trust for America I felt like they were as honorable as they could be during times like that I felt that they were for the greater good and they had our backs as we would have theirs if it ever came to it.
No longer do I have the same feelings, and let me stress the point, the people I still love, and always will, but your culture has been infested with pure evil.
Pay attention America don’t let the world down, it’s counting on you.

Reporting this is a treasonous act? WHAT ABOUT SENDING YOUR TROOPS TO DIE IN YET ANOTHER UNNEEDED MANIPULATED WAR, COULD THAT BE CLASSIFIED AS TREASONOUS?

This is so ridiculous, those poor troops, they are gonna have to be stretched even thinner now with a new war on the horizon. All these troops wanna do is come home, instead theyre seeing their tours extended, multiple times, and now they may have to fight another enemy right to the West with Iran. This will spell doom for you guys.

It seems your government, corporations, and intelligence services, are dead set into dragging America into a hole. It seems they are working feverishly to try and make the once most powerful country in the world ineffective. They are destroying America, and your way of life, and my god people what are we going to do about it?

How can they spread their dark black projects over to Iran now, to destabilize them, and remember this is the prelude to full scale war I promise you that. We cant afford another war, my god, were in trouble, we are in big trouble.

You know if they bomb the enrichment plants like they plan to, you know how much damage thats going to cause, with the radiation, remember theyve already started enriching. If you drop a BOMB on these plants, the radiation leak from that would cause utter devastation for thousands of years all over the place.

Remember Chernobyl? One plant had one little spill, and it caused massive devastation. Imagine what wouldve happened if a bomb was dropped at Chernobyl? Imagine that 1000 times worse if all of Irans nuclear facilities are bombed, I mean its complete suicide what your government is doing.

But hey, youve already ruined Iraq forever, the radiation from Depleted Uranium has a 4.5 billion year half-life, people are going to be dying there forever now because of this. So yea, I see why your government and Israel would want to bomb these plants, 200 of them they warned, they literally want to destroy the world it seems.

We need to wake up, we are literally entering into world war 3. And I think it was Einstein who said I dont know if world war 3 is going to happen, but if it does,I know world war 4 will be fought with sticks and stones. We cant let this happen.

Visit an existing thread started by myself if you want. It addresses the ripple effect of stretching troops too thinly.

Thinner and Thinner

The giant sucking sound of people being pulled out of this country and into the Middle East is getting louder. If the war with Iran has not started yet, perhaps a war with another country could.
