You can't legislate against insanity.
If he couldn't get his hands on guns easily, he probably would've made bombs or molokov cocktails or something else.
How could you legislate if these all of a sudden became the weapon of choice after guns were banned or harder to get???
Its a slippery slope that doesn't address the issue.
Time better spent on profiling and then practically assisting students with mental health problems or having special schools, colleges, universities for troubled youth would be a lot more practical than blaming/banning guns IMO

You think he could have killed 32 people with molotov cocktails?

Perhaps he could have made a very basic bomb, but I think its safe to say the death toll would have been seriously reduced.

It does sound like this person was identified as a troubled individual ahead of time, and clearly he should have recieved some serious councelling.

Profiling every student is however not practical, invasive and a bigger imposition on human rights than the constriction of firearms.

Be thankful he used handguns. Do you have any idea what the scene would have looked like if he had used a shotgun? With victims trapped and hearded it would have been potentially far worse. Using #1 buckshot at short range we're talking 16 to 20 rounds per trigger pull. Not to mention the effect it would have on a door being held shut from behind. It's not about the guns. It's about the mental health issue.
