I'm not sure what people think about Debka on this forum but here is a news story that could mean we are literally less than 72 hours from war.

www.debka.com...

According to it the Persian Gulf States are going on alert expecting the situation to only get worse.

If you live in the US, and had to rely on cable news for your view of "what's happening out there"...you might not even be aware of this situation.

I just finished watching a CNN news package on Iran, complete with a live feed from their correspondent in Tehran...and not a word about these developments...only talk about the sanctions, and Iran's defiance with regard to their nuclear program.

At a minimum, I would expect FOX to be hammering on this. The hands off news policy is interesting.

I read that Debkafile article earlier today...gave me a whole new appreciation.

That was my assessment too, the moment I heard this story.

I think people are perhaps unaware of how much resource the western military is willing to commit in the pursuit of reclaiming captives.

And in this case the liberation of captives will only be one objective of many..... it is all or nothing.

Its on Foxnews website about the soldiers but they dont say anything about it on the newschannel. Its seems like there is a bit of unspkien quiet about this incident and im surprised it isnt being made more of?

The French aircraft carrier is now in the region with the 2 US ones already there. SOmething could be up for sure.

Just found this....

Seems like we have been gearing up to this moment for the last few months...

I totally disagree with this guys point of view but found it intersting that people from both sides of the debate have the same conclusion...

This from Feb 07...

COUNT-DOWN TO WAR WITH IRAN?

Time is running out for the pro-war neocons: Bush has less than two years left in office and is facing a revolt in Congress. Britain’s Prime Minister Tony Blair is expected to leave office by the end of April – or earlier if he is engulfed by a raging scandal over selling titles. The arrest of Lord Levy, Blair’s principal fund raiser and pro-war mentor on the Mideast, has seriously undermined the faltering Blair government.

Evidence continues to accumulate that the Bush/Cheney Administration is planning an air and naval war against Iran in spite of a rising chorus of protests by serving and retired senior US military officers and diplomats.

Source: Eric Margolis

I have read lots of threads on here stating count down etc... but this situation is different.

We actually have a true crisis unfolding right before our eyes...

For those who think the CIA would have nothing to do with this if the elites really wanted a war:
Who trained Bin Laden? Who funded him? CIA
Who helped sponsor a cou de tat in Iran? CIA
Who helped sponsor terrorists all over the world such as the dictators in Chile? CIA
Just go look it up... The USA has a strong history of this stuff, SHOOT! GO LOOK AT HAWAII! Anyway:
If those 15 WERE taken to Tehran then the Iranians are serious about something, they either want a prisoner exchange, or someone was where they were not supposed to be. Remember, it is not below the elites to kill off 15 people to further their cause, they had over (FACT) 300,000 MINIMUM wiped out in Iraq.
Anyone who thinks Iran is flexing its muscles is frankly off the wall, why? Here is why:
#1: Iran would have done this sooner before the buildup
#2: They would have done it BEFORE things were almost, as the saying goes "gone to hell in a hand basket."
#3: They are outnumbered
#4: They are facing an enemy who has their positions locked in
#5: Their enemy has been ITCHING for a reason to attack, so why give them one?
#6: The international community is more ticked off at the USA and UK for its actions than Iran so why change the attitude by doing something foolish?

Anyone who thinks the Iranians as fools IS a fool. They would not commit diplomatic suicide by doing something so rash without justifiable cause. Also the elites would love using something like this just to flare things up and never report on WHY the Iranians took them. This will be the time the media shines on blatant propaganda depending on WHAT the elites want to happen next. For all we know the Iranians could have taken them for being in the wrong waters or for some other justified reason and have already returned them like in 1975 with a slap on the wrist and a warning of "do not do this again!" Of course the media would NEVER, EVER tell us that if they wanted a war to happen. Also, attack Iran, those 15 will be dead in less than a second. Even if you had "special ops" move in and try and capture them, I am certain they are moving them around so you WONT be able to get them back if that is the case.

This is probably some BS theatrical nonsense that is going to be used to start a war. I wonder who will play the hero and helpless child?

I believe the contention made earlier (to which I take exception) was that perhaps the CIA had a hand in this latest crises, by way of somehow aiding and abetting the Iranian Revolutionary Guard. I believe that the only aid the CIA might lend with regard to the IRGC, would be in support it's demise.

True, we covertly supplied weapons to Iran during their 8yr tussle with Iraq, while simultaneously, and publicly supporting Saddam...but this is a horse of a different color, and involves American, and allied troops directly in harms way.

I seriously doubt that Iran's stanchest, and most faithful military wing is in bed with American intelligence.

It's also of note, that along with other tasks, the IRGC with it's own navy, is charged with the responsibility overseeing Iran's border security.

Right or wrong...will Iran over-play it's hand here?...guess we'll find out soon enough.

'I dunno, I dont think Iran would want a war on the scale the US would deliver......

And Its IRANS government saying '' yes we took these soliders ''

so a setup?... nah...

this was an unexpected nugget for the US... its a positive if indeed they want war......

what worries me though..

Is that Iran do not seem to fear, or have a thought in the world that they face devestation.....

Why are Iran so cocky, and so willing to poke at war?

I mean... if i see a 7ft boxer at a club.. im not going to go up to him and spill his drink over on purpose am I?.........

Iran is actually running out of oil so there is no major concern for the oil companies there…

Not quite true, if you go to the sources, but okay I've learned BP is backing out.

Feb. 23 (Bloomberg) -- President George W. Bush's campaign to turn Iran into an economic pariah is being rebuffed from Spain to Malaysia as countries and companies pursue long-term agreements to tap into the world's second-largest reserves of oil and gas.

Royal Dutch Shell Plc, Europe's largest oil company, and Spain's Repsol YPF SA -- which last month signed a new agreement on a three-year-old gas production project, estimated at more than $10 billion -- are among those who can ill afford to give up oil and natural-gas projects in Iran, said James Bell, president of Gas Strategies, a London-based consulting firm.

My take on this :

We don't know squat about what actually happened out there - all we are told comes from the media propaganda-spin-machine. For all we know those men were knowingly sent into Iranian waters, in order to try and provoke a conflict, or give an excuse for an invasion. The "WMD excuse" I think, is starting to wear a bit thin now..

I see that France's only aircraft carrier is now in the region doing joint work with the U.S.S. John C. Stennis. The Eisenhower is in the area and the Reagan is on her way...I think I may missed some too (does the UK have a carrier there?)

Anyway, I find it hard to believe that all that firepower is there just to fight "insurgents."

Any source that the USS Reagan is headed to the ME? She is primarily based in the Pacific, that would indeed be a rather unusual move especially with two other CBG's in the area. I'll try to see if I can find any info on where the subs are, if there is a heavy concentration of subs in the Gulf along with perhaps the USS Ohio (SSGN) then things could get interesting...

Ok, maybe I'm wrong about that....I thought for sure there was some thread here saying there was another one on its way there, but I can't seem to find it....

You may have seen it in an article I posted in a discussion here:

www.abovetopsecret.com...

This post:

www.abovetopsecret.com...

This news source:

abcnews.go.com...

This specific quote from that source:

The exercises are the latest in a series of maneuvers staged by Iran's military in the Gulf region, where the United States has deployed a second aircraft carrier, a move widely seen as a warning to Tehran over its nuclear ambitions.

I'd like to know where they sourced that info.

But the report hasn't changed, and being ABC news source and the time that has passed, it usually confirms the report.

Iran seems to be headed to martyrdom, as a nation.

Sobering thought?

A leadership so radically Islamic (like Al Qadea) they are all willing to sacrifice themselves and nation in a suicidal conflict, and perhaps a series of terrorist type attacks against the USA, UK and Israel.

We can only hope that isn't the case, ultimately only time will tell.

OK, looks like there are only two Nimitz-class carrier led groups, but the Boxer, an amphibious assault ship, is leading a third U.S. group in the region. With France's Charles de Gaulle that still represents a whole hell of a lot of power.

Allies? we don't need any more allies. I understand that China is our biggest treat along with Russia. I don't think we have to worry about Iran, they are basically putting up a useless fight. Let's face it, im against the oil barons plan, Im anti-war in general, but the US of A is controlling the MidEast. We also have UK, Isreal, Austrailia, Europe, and who else am I missing as our allies? Forget troops. they are actually irrelevent when it coms to information warfare, and air and sea power.
