I don't understand why everybody wants the US to fall. When bush is out of office and a new pres. is in power policies will fall. The goverenment of the U.S. doesn't fully operate to the standards of the people and the wishes that we have. Why can't we all just get along, prbs across the world would be solved and humans would be a better race.

Jealousy, pure and simple. Russians on the board love to point out some achilles heal in our system while our esteemed friends in the UK like to critique our ways of managing our Empire.

I can understand the Brits being a little ticked at us since they used to be a superpower. But I don't get the Russian problem with us, they aren't a superpower and never really were.

Guess they're just jealous of what we have (and have kept).

Yep It is true that the every impire that rises so high and gets powerful falls. It is a fact that been repeated thousands of times in the history. NOw if u think people hate us because of jealousy you are so worng. They are scared and not jealious specially with the" war as a solution" mentality our sick government has. I dont think US will get wiped of the earth but we will be dominated by others like we are dominating others right now. Dont think Nukes will matter. They are just for deterance.

America will fall eventually, but it won't turn into this big mess of decay. It will just end up the same way as England is. Britain used to be a mighty empire, it came crashing down, and now Britain survives as a normal country, no different from any other. I almost look forward to seeing who the next world leader will be, just out of sheer curiosity. Might be china or japan, but for some reason I can't see that happening, just a gut instinct... I just hope australia doesn't start getting too big for it's boots

Uhhhh RANT?
you said

You said it yourself. Empires fall.

Rome fell. The world was fine.

I'm surprised at you to have made such a huge and obvious mistake.
When rome fell the world was not fine. It entered into a period of barbarism that took almost 1000 years to climb out of. Thats why they call it the dark ages.
Were you sick when you posted this or what?
Your posts are usually more well reasoned than this.

Where is this prediction coming from? Who predicted it? I am assuming it is from somewhere due to the forum it is in....that's why I opened it, becuase this isn't for "personal" predictions. As to the content....I've been trying to tell people that everything has it's season, nothing stays on top forever......the way things are going, America is on it downswing
NO ONE wants the US to fall.....it's the choices being made for America...that is dooming it to fall.

Look at the dates. This thread was started way before the new rules were in place.

Hello, I'm a new poster to ATS. Been visiting the site daily for a couple weeks now.

Just wanted add my 2 cents to this thread.

First of all: I agree to an extent that something will happen to America that will greatly change it. Destroy it? I'm sorry but that's laughable. The U.S. is too big, too diverse, and has too many resources. It doesn't need the help of other countries to go on surviving, if the U.S. Government wished... it could pull its military out every other country in the World, stop trading with everyone, and rely on what we have right here in the States. While this will more-than-likely never happen, it could do it.

Secondly: America has never truly been an Empire. An Empire as I see it, is a Nation that has visions of conquest, and assimilation. If this were the case then Russia, and Japan would quite possibly be part of the United States of America, as well as all of Canada, Mexico, and South America.

Thirdly: If you want to look at the last real attempt at an Empire look no further than the U.S.S.R.. Russia in my eyes was a prime example of how an Empire would act. It attempted, and succeeded to assimilate it's outter countries and absorb them into it's own. It fell. Why? Because there were too many diverse ethinicities there to be controled by one Government. This being the reason for the fall of all known Empires, in my opinion.

So in closing, America will never really crumble, it will endure as long as there are people living on it's soil. Unless of course, the Government get's some grandiose plan to extend it's boundaries...then all bets are off.

My opinion.

1. Take a look at the Roman empire, and how long it lasted.

2. Compare this to how long America has been a nation.

3. Relax.

As for Pres. Bush being a cure, than why are there so much dissident/protestors around the world, and right under his nose in the U.S.A who don't agree with him?

dissent is around (for the time being) because we supposedly have freedom of speech. During the last campaign G. Brish did his honest best to suspend that amendment by having a couple arrested in N. Carolina for wearing a dissenting t-shirt, by preventing dissenters from marching and demonstrating during the NRC, and by having a grieving mother arrested during his wife's speech. G. Brish is not a cure for anything except our well being. Our wealth is being depleted faster than a speeding missle over DC.

.......

Actually the poster said his family had come from a communist country/dictatorship...so he was outside the U.S..... I was also born, and lived until I was 8 years old, in a communist country and really saw what propaganda truly is.... Communist countries have a propaganda against the U.S. and any country that is not communist or socialist in manners you will never even comprehend, mainly because most people who keep bashing away at the U.S., have never truly been under a dictatorship and don't even know what that means.

People have been yelling and bashing away that we would be under a dictatorship for years now, yet we have pretty much the same freedoms we had years past. Things have changed, 9/11 and islamic radicals have made sure of it, if you think that is only propaganda made up by the U.S. you are surely blind to the facts....the U.S. was not the only one to be attacked by the radicals.... and if you think that the whole world has always loved the U.S. except for what has been going on for the past 10-30 years, then you haven't learnt enough about history.

Let me quote something from a "Canadian" which was written in 1973 by him, so you can see that this hatred against the U.S. is not something new....

Forgive the long post, but i think this is needed since so many people keep bashing away at the U.S. and claim that all this hatred against North America is new....

Topic: "The Americans"

The United States dollar took another pounding on German, French and British exchanges this morning, hitting the lowest point ever known in West Germany. It has declined there by 41% since 1971 and this Canadian thinks it is time to speak up for the Americans as the most generous and possibly the least-appreciated people in all the world.

As long as sixty years ago, when I first started to read newspapers, I read of floods on the Yellow River and the Yangtse. Well, Who rushed in with men and money to help? The Americans did, that's who.

They have helped control floods on the Nile, the Amazon, the Ganges and the Niger. Today, the rich bottom land of the Mississippi is under water and no foreign land has sent a dollar to help. Germany, Japan and, to a lesser extent, Britain and Italy, were lifted out of the debris of war by the Americans who poured in billions of dollars and forgave other billions in debts. None of those countries is today paying even the interest on its remaining debts to the United States.

When the franc was in danger of collapsing in 1956, it was the Americans who propped it up and their reward was to be insulted and swindled on the streets of Paris. And I was there. I saw that.

When distant cities are hit by earthquakes, it is the United States that hurries into help... Managua Nicaragua is one of the most recent examples. So far this spring, 59 American communities have been flattened by tornadoes. Nobody has helped.

The Marshall Plan... the Truman Policy... all pumped billions upon billions of dollars into discouraged countries. And now, newspapers in those countries are writing about the decadent war-mongering Americans.

I'd like to see one of those countries that is gloating over the erosion of the United States dollar build its own airplanes.

Come on... let's hear it! Does any other country in the world have a plane to equal the Boeing Jumbo Jet, the Lockheed Tristar or the Douglas 10? If so, why don't they fly them? Why do all international lines except Russia fly American planes? Why does no other land on earth even consider putting a man or a women on the moon?

You talk about Japanese technocracy and you get radios. You talk about German technocracy and you get automobiles. You talk about American technocracy and you find men on the moon, not once, but several times ... and safely home again. You talk about scandals and the Americans put theirs right in the store window for everybody to look at. Even the draft dodgers are not pursued and hounded. They are right here on our streets in Toronto, most of them... unless they are breaking Canadian laws... are getting American dollars from Ma and Pa at home to spend here.

When the Americans get out of this bind... as they will... who could blame them if they said 'the hell with the rest of the world'. Let someone else buy the bonds, let someone else build or repair foreign dams or design foreign buildings that won't shake apart in earthquakes.

When the railways of France, Germany and India were breaking down through age, it was the Americans who rebuilt them. When the Pennsylvania Railroad and the New York Central went broke, nobody loaned them an old caboose. Both of them are still broke. I can name to you 5,000 times when the Americans raced to the help of other people in trouble.

Can you name to me even one time when someone else raced to the Americans in trouble? I don't think there was outside help even during the San Francisco earthquake.

Our neighbours have faced it alone and I am one Canadian who is damned tired of hearing them kicked around. They will come out of this thing with their flag high. And when they do, they are entitled to thumb their noses at the lands that are gloating over their present troubles.

I hope Canada is not one of these. But there are many smug, self-righteous Canadians. And finally, the American Red Cross was told at its 48th Annual meeting in New Orleans this morning that it was broke.

This year's disasters... with the year less than half-over... has taken it all and nobody... but nobody... has helped.

As an American I must now add my two pennies worth....so here goes. Our President Bush was elected...give it a rest, people voted for him, now he IS for the next four years gonna be here ,unless that old rule of the even year curse should kick in, even if a tad less than half our population does'nt like it. We can be a divided nation and infact have been for many years now. We are divided on many issues.
Thats life and we will deal with it. If we fall as a superpower, then so be it. We will regroup and overcome an instability when and if that time should come.
I know that folks all over the globe would love to see the USA "put in her place". As far as I am concrened ...we are in our place.
As long as I can remember its been said that Russia would take us out. And I do not doubt what they hold. I do however doubt that the world will fall with us. I am a rebel, from the south, and will forever be a PROUD AMERICAN with an attitude when it comes to my country.
My point....kwitcherbychen.
When push comes to shove...theres alot of people here in the states willing to defend this great nation that are not part of the military.
And folks here in our country that dislike it here should leave. Go back to where you came from and fight for your own country the way we do for ours. For those of you that came here and love this land, we are proud to have you.
God Bless the USA and all that love her.

I have been reading this thread and it goes to show how much anger there is in the world. How did we get so far off track.
One person was born in USA and another born in Araq. Where you are born is your home. You are raised in your environment. You fight for it, it is what you believe. That is the way it is.
I could of been born in Araq instead of the USA. I would not believe the way I do know. I can see fighting normally to get to an agreement but Nuclear War. What have we done. We are all human and when the first nuclear weapon is fired and we all become involved fireing at each other trying to protect our own country, we will be in for a whole new enlightenment.
Wait and see, Jerusalem is the only place that will be protected. It is God's people's home and He will lift his hand in the air and stop any nuclear weapons from entering into this land.
As written in the Holy Bible, chapter Zachariah, Verse 14. The part that it interesting, being how long ago was this written, is Verse 12 - 15.
This is the plague with which the Lord will strike all the nations that fought against Jerusalem: THEIR FLESH WILL ROT WHILE THEY ARE STILL STANDING ON THEIR FEET, THEIR EYES WILL ROT IN THEIR SOCKETS, AND THEIR TONGUES WILL ROT IN THEIR MOUTHS. On that day men will be stricken by the Lord with great panic. You will have to read the rest.
Doesn't it sound like a nuclear attack and how it will effect the body when it hits.
It also talks about a great earthquake happening and there will be no light, no cold, no frost. A unique day, without daytime or nighttime-a day known to the Lord.
This sounds like how the earth will react to the nuclear war.
Beware...the beginning is close at hand.
I hope we will all be prepared for it.
