Get this straight. THE WORLD DOES NOT HATE THE USA.

THE WORLD HATES THIS ADMINISTRATION.

Did the world hate this administration when the WTC's were bombed the first time?

Is this administration the reason that the USS Cole was rammed by a boat full of explosives?

Come one dg. The truth is YOU hate this administration.

If the world hates this administration, then they love and embrace EVIL!

BTW! Only Empires rise and fall! The United States is not an Empire!

We (the United States and the United Kingdom) were unintentionally thrust into the position of a superpower at the end of WWII because the rest of the world was SSOoooo weak!

We can't help that we're good! That's what God intended for us!

Canada is not getting rid of their military, we just don't need to waste our money on massive military endeavors like the Iraq war because we are not afraid of terrorism here, like americans are...why?

Because we don't have a hundred and fifty page list of countries that hate us. We are fairly well liked globally, especially for our stance against the US war in Iraq.

I am proud of our government for actually believing in something and having the balls to stand up against a neighbour which constitutes 80% of our exports and say "no" we won't participate in your bogus war. That is what the Canadian people wanted and that's what our government did...that stands in stark contrast to how your politicians operate.

As for the legalizing pot...that is not what Canada is proposing at all. You should research first. We are looking to decriminalize it, which is not the same thing at all. posession of small amounts will still be a ticketable offence, but it will not warrant arrest and will not go on your criminal record. This will be a huge burden lifted from police shoulders.

Well said, Lukefj. Canada doesn't need a huge military because we don't really have any enemies. Though a small population, a fairly large GDP. When Canada pledges money to 3rd world countries its not just lip service, we actually pay up.

Many countries around the world could learn a thing or two from Canada.

Missile defence and potential weaponization of space? No thanks. Word of advice - stop pissing off the world and you won't need it!

Merci M. Chretien!! ...Most of the time I didn't like you, but for the stance you took on Iraq I'll always remember and respect you!

I wouldn't be laughing so hard if I were you. China's economy is improving by leaps and bounds...they are buying oil and steel companies etc., in North America.

Just saw a segment on the news where a Canadian architectural firm has been contracted by China to design homes and neighbourhoods in the "Canadian style" - big detached homes, lots of trees, walking distance to schools etc.. Prices starting at $500K.

A friend just came back from Beijing and the economy is booming. Everyone driving cars and tons and tons of shops.

Canada doesn't need a big military because they leech protection off the U.S., get a grip. I have nothing against Canadians, they are just as bad
as any other people in the world except they are more self-righteous.

I describe Canadians as wanna b's, wanna be French, English, Americans,
Muslims you name it, everything except Canadians.

Canada does not "wanna b" anything. Its a cuturally rich nation where all languages, cultures and religions live in harmony, despite our problems which all nations have. That's what makes us Canadian, respect for our differences which bring us together. The truth is everyone here at some point came from somewhere else. The true Canadians are the First Nations.

When my parents we children and were starving they remember blocks of butter and cheese with labels on them spelling "USA". at the time they didn't know what it meant all they remember the feeling of hunger. Now they have been here in the US for over 30 years and love this country and trully appreciate it for what it is!

Freedom , liberty , and all other things denied to them by communist and corrupt governments.

Too bad so many US citizens take everything we have for granted. If we only knew how lucky we are!

All I know is if the USA falls you can kiss the rest of the world goodbye!!!

And im here to tell you i have no hate in my heart. If you read my post you will see that i said i've lived in many places and not ONCE has anyone expressed anything but concern for us here after 9/11. But think whatever you want or what the powers that be have programed you to think. The world doesnt care and neither do i.

Since most of this is pure speculation and prediction I will share my thoughts. Being an open minded American i respect anyone elses thoughts and thinking, but who is to say that the American economy and power will decline constantly?

There is a lot of talk about how America will simply fall out of the picture. But do you honestly think it will really happen this way?.....nothing is impossible....but I don't see it happening in the distant future. You may see a current recession in the economy but it isn't anything that we haven't seen before. We have had worse recessions in our history, and we have always came out booming in the end.

What i kind of see happening is an economically competitive gain on the U.S from other countries in the short coming, but as far as America just falling off the face of the earth as a economic power and super power is quite aggressive. Our economy is enormous and still growing, its just not growing as fast at the moment. Give it time people. Don't jump to conclusions too fast. This is an economy built on prosperity, and our country has always become united during tough times. Im happy too see other countries rising, and welcome success among all people. But careful not to exaggerate the lag in the US position in the world.

It's really sad to see bad stereotypes coming to life in this thread.

All this chest beating about how great the US is and this whacko-psycho need to insult Canada or pretend that we need the US so badly for security is a joke. It just comes across as a bad attitude.

The fact is that most Canadians don't find the world to be such a threatening place at all. That is because we don't go around threatening others. In turn they don't get so upset at us. See how that works?

Whenever there was a serious conflict like WW1 or WW2, Canada mobilized
forces that were, per capita, much larger than what the US fielded. Those forces had a great fighting record. So don't tell us we can't fight or defend ourselves. We just pick our spots and that is a good thing because fighting is fundamentally something that people should avoid doing.

As far as our attitude toward the US goes, Well I can speak for myself; I like the US, always have and live a stone's throw away, but the people running the show over there are downright dangerous and out of control. With all that determination to fight, throw one's weight around and drag everyone else into large conflicts, your neighbour (Canada) grows concerned at what can happen to the neighbourhood (North America) or the city (the world). It would be great if our fundamentally good neighbour would just quit trying to prove how tough and powerful it is and sit down and join the rest of us in trying to work out a better future. You are welcome any time but leave the guns at the door.
You'll find that my attitude is extremly common up here.

I miss that Russian fellow. He just patiently returned every missile lobbed at him. This thread was downright hilarious when he was here.

Hello revengeogmakhno

Just like to reasure you that not all your American neighbors like to run about beating their chest about how great America is. I do love my country, however i try and respect others and their thoughts. I have many friends and co-workers from Canada and I envy its beauty and quality of life.
I also agree with you that our administrations don't always make perfect decisions, and some are quite extreme. But, for all the bad that Americans are labeled to do, I think you can find just as much good.
Only time will tell on if our current administration's decisions in the world will payoff more than they have damaged. Once again, I do think highly of Canada and hope that our 2 countries can grow together far into the future.

This western Canadian loves America and wishes only the best for her and her people. I'm ashamed of the anti-american rhetoric coming from Central & eastern Canada. I also think George Bush is great. He does what he says and doesn't tell people what they want to hear; he tells what is going on and how to fix it. Unlike Canadian polaticians that do a poll then say what they think Canadians want to hear.
It would be impossible to invade America. Every small town and Rural area (just like Western Canada) population owns weapons and 4X4 vehicles. These so-called redneck hillbillies grow the crops, raise the cattle and are armed to the teeth. Food supply covered, Weapons covered, Personal Tanks (4x4s & tractors). No body could ever invade America and win. They could how ever nuke large cities but that would be a good thing. Wipe out all the bleeding heart liberals that have deystoyed the western civilization with immorality & plain stupidity.

I was in my local pub(a few months ago)...and the pub landlord and myself where watching news on TV about Iraq.
"Bloody Yanks" he said to me...They've messed up again.
I replied that we wouldn't be the nation we are now if it wasn't for USA.

What do mean by that ?he said.

I went on...There you are sitting there in your DENIM jeans(American)
watching CNN (American)on a Satellite TV channel(American)
Drinking a bottle of BUD(American) wearing your NIKE shoes(American)
There's two guys in the next room playing POOL(American)
You've just served someone a JACK DANIELS(American)...
You where brought up watching Bugs Bunny cartoons,John Wayne movies,Probably had an Action Man(G.I.JOE)...You've been to Disneyland...and your next holiday is in New York

Should I go on?,I said...Point taken he replied.

I like America and American people and have been there several times.

I hope the USA never falls....
If you are going to have a "BEST BUDDY" Then it might as well be the most powerful nation on Earth....God Bless America.

The majority of Canada - west to east is not anti-American. We were just was not in favour of their invading Iraq, not without proof of WMD.

Just seems to me that we see our neighbour spinning out of control because there are those who don't want to look at what's happening with the country in the face. After all there is no lack of information out there if you want to find it. Too many, however, like you, keep their heads buried in the sand. To me, America is scary these days...and I don't just mean because of her military might.

Batoche, you think everything our neighbour does is so wonderful, I vote for you to hop a plane and go over to Iraq and see for yourself how wonderfully the Iraqis are doing since March 2003, all based on lies and exaggerations. I bet all the Canadians here on ATS would contribute a loonie toward your airfare. Then you come back and report back to us how great everything is there and how they should be so grateful to America for getting rid of Saddam.

You know what...lying and f**king up your own country is one thing...f**king up someone else's country is quite another.

Get a grip.

This photo appeared on the front page of the Toronto Star today (among other newsmedia). These Iraqi children were in a car with their parents who were shot to death in front of them... They are completely terrorized, the little girl covered in her parents' blood.

That link above, "unfortunate incident" my arse! whats breathtaking is the Great American Patriot's capacity to accept this and similar and worse attrocitys as acceptable. you can call it "casualties of war or anything you like, its still official sanctioned Murder! And to those who "I dont care, they were following orders" i say i only hope its your family in a car on an american street one day and your fellow americans are only following orders!" murderous unthinking meatheads" is too hard to say so they call them soldiers!

I'd just like to say that I'm also Canadian, and I would just like to say a few things about my current thoughts on the US.

At one point, just before 9/11 I was a strong supporter of the US, and thought they generally stood up for noble causes... they walked carefully and carried a big stick... I think Reagan said that, not sure though. Then then the guy who DIDN'T win the election was quickly installed as President before the votes were even counted... I thought "wow, that's kinda sketchy".... Then I watched 9/11 happen live on TV as I ate my breakfast... all thoughts of the election were cast aside and I prayed for our American friends south of the border, and was proud to hear that thousands of US planes were being diverted to Canadian airspace... we put up schools, hotels, our own homes, shut down all our airports to accomodate the exodus from the US... all of this at no expense to the American people.. the least we can do for our allies. The next day, George Bush proceeded to thank just about every nation on the planet for expressing their support and condolences.. except Canada... even though we were the only ones that had actually DONE anything up to that point, and quite a large something at that. But no thank you came from Dubya... scratch one Brownie Point from the US tally. Shortly there after, Dubya made a speech on the site of WTC, as I'm sure we all remember. Great speech. I almost started liking him again... almost. Then the coalition (including a large force of Canadian soldiers) invaded afghanistan. Good move.... swift response to a known terrorist haven, and where Osama, the guy responsible for 9/11 was located. Woop some butt, get rid of awful Taliban, and relative peace ensues (peace in afghanistan to be taken with grain of salt). Then American fighter pilot ignores orders from superiors and drops a bomb on Canadian soldiers conducting night training below with small arms. Kills 6 and wounds a bunch more. Says that 'he was afraid of being hit by enemy soldiers down there'.... his supersonic jet fighter being shot down at night in the pitch black by small arms fire? gimme a bloody break. Pilot recieves a small fine and is discharged from USAF... for blatently ignoring orders and slaughtering friendlies cuz he was trigger happy. I think voluntary manslaughter was more fitting.Scratch one Brownie Point from US tally..... Then US begins making moves at Iraq, who has nothing to do with Osama or terrorism in general. Saddam really is a piece of crap, but harmless to the rest of the world at that time. Dubya spews out any excuse he can think of as fact to go into Iraq.... all of which were false.. even the chief UN weapon inspector, Hanz Blix resigned and said there were no WMD... Dubya says otherwise, US threatens and mocks any nation that desides not to join the lynch mob. Scratch one Brownie Point. US invades and turns an orderly peaceful country into a lawless hellhole rampant with terrorism and violence. Scratch one Brownie Point. Now the US makes threats towards Syria, Iran, North Korea, and to a lesser extent, China..... are you insane? So what if they have WMD... so do you! you invented the bloody things to begin with! and you're the ONLY nation in the world to use Nukes... but everybody else is dangerous? I hope things get back under control in the US because your society is degenerating (yet another high school slaughter on TV last week... amongst other things), you administration is hellbent on starting world war 3, your debt is spiralling out of control, your currency is devaluing, the world's view on the US is diminishing rapidly, and generally speaking.... well, you just seem extremely unstable and aggressive... like somebody took a cheap shot at you earlier in the night at the party, and now you're all drunk and threating to beat up anybody that looks wrong at you... unfortunately, you're the toughest guy there, so it's kinda hard to just throw you out. "What? You got a problem? I'll kick ya ass for ya! Come on and git some!!" right? lol... and you wonder why everybody's lookin at you wrong.

I like to steer clear of political comments, but yours is the funniest i have read in a long time. It is refreshing to hear someone use a "Thug at a Party" analogy.

I am a great believer in US citizen's overall and they know the difference between right and wrong, and i am sure they will recover some form. Same in the UK, we went a little crazy at first but now we are on the up, people are asking more questions (which is always good) and people are more answerable for their actions. Which means nothing is taken for granted any more - even military action.

Nevermind my opinions; yours made me smile.

Thanks and Regards
