who is the "The Heaviest Metal band Ever"

listening to marduk on myspace now, i cant find anything about animal sacrifices or any real satanism on they're part. care to provide any evidence of your claims?

too bad your thread is being filled with a bunch of people who only know the mainstream, and slightly above. I have to say that the most brutal bands are,
1.Anaal Nathrakh
2.Bestial Warlust
3.Prostitute Disfigurement
and
4. Cryptopsy (old music, not including the gay metalcore version they are know)
plus a bunch of black metal bands including Otargos, 1349, gorgoroth, etc. all sorta tie together

Origin is defiantly the most heavy metal band.

I would say either Lamb of God or Sepultura. Whoever says Deep Purple is wrong. They're sure as hell one of the BEST metal bands, but they're definitely not one of the heaviest.

To be honest i think Waking the Cadaver is pretty brutal and heavy.
You have to be really heavy to pull off lyrics like "i like to colour paint" and "I don't like rice" when the song is called Chased through the Woods by a Rapist. =]

Amon Amarth they are truly one of the heaviest out there.... if you never heard of em look them up they have some of the most powerful wanna grab a battle axe and start chopping of heads kinda music out there... great vocals awesome guitar and some deep fast drumming...

I definitely have to cast a vote for meshuggah because their songs are beyond heavy especially with their 8 string de-tuned guitars, grinding songs in odd time signatures, and their brutal monotone vocals. I think that makes them very heavy.

I would actually have to say Morbid Angel. There one of the first death metal bands,and i think one of the heaviest. Napalm Death would be up there with them to i luv Gwar to
