You can see a lot more of his face very clearly, and he looks nothing like Richard.

lol, from that picture it looks like Dennis Hopper! A younger one of course.

Lots of people have said that. It's a shame no one knows who the actor portraying him is so we could get a decent look at him.

Oh man, if that is Dennis Hopper that wold be freaking great. It would bring this show to a whole new level.

I'm actually starting to feel sorry for the guy with the eye patch (Michail?) In every episode it goes bad for him. Locke throws him thru a sonic fence, Jin beats his butt the next time he shows up, Locke beats him bloody in the last episode....That dude needs to learn how to fight before somebody kills his a$$!!

Before it's over Claire is going to be putting him in a headlock and making him scream uncle!

Another thing, How did Juliet know what was on the other side of the tape? Locke stole the recorder and gave it to James. Juliet never heard the instructions that were on the other side yet she automaticly tells them to turn the tape over. Seems like a rather conveniant out to me.

Stupid show will drive a man nutz......in a really cool way

All she would have known is that there would be instructions waiting for her. The tape recorder should have been placed back at the staff section for Juliet to listen to.

I was just wondering, is it me or did Ben show more compassion for Horace than for his own father? Did Horace treat him more like a son than his dad?

i got that impression...

And why did Ben say he was "One of the people" who sided with the Hostiles? Who were the rest? I think Danielle might have been one of them and instead of siding with them afterward went native.

hmmm, i don't know why he said that...

but, there must be others if he stated that he was only one of the people that sided with the hostiles...

Based on timelines, I'd venture to say Alex was born prior to the purge.

which purge???

mikhail mentioned the purge tried by dharma to kill the hostiles, but are you referring to the purge by the hostiles???

Also, remember the blonde haired lady in a painting a few shows back? The one in Ben's little house? Well, that's Ben's mother. Not Juliet as some has suspected.

nice...

exactly...

ben could have told her that instructions could be found on the other side of the tape...

the others are smart and they must have certain protocols for everything...

SPOILERS

That's going to happen in the last episode. Claire holds him while Aaron beats him with a guava.

Its a tape recorder. People don't just use one side of tape when they record with it. She records on one side, and Ben listens to it, flips it over and records something else. Then she gets it, listens, flips it and records.

I just heard the next episode will be the one where Charlie dies. Anyone else heard that?

Here's what I think

1. Jacob died along time ago. He now is a ghost with power, but somehow under the control of Ben.

2. Jacob, the island, or both will heal Locke. Locke will not come back until the middle of next season in full Gandalf the Grey LOR style. He will force a civil war, or revolt in the others next year.

3. Finally, I knew this would be the Ben flashback episode. I knew he wasn't born on the island.

4. Juliet knew about the other side of the tape, because that the way they set it up. One side has her the other side her instructions. Old messages would just be taped over.

5. The writers sidelines Locke so he wouldn't be forced to choose sides in front of the others. He would probably has switched back to his friends in a battle. Evidence, he gave them the tape.

6. Dennis Hopper will show up next year. He is the craziest
alive, and would probably do the show for free, except we all know he's making $ in exposure if nothing else.

7. In the comming attractions remember Desmond told Charlie that this time he would Have to die.

and this news made me smile:

LOST Ratings Soar with Dharma Back Story...

ABC's press department was glowing today over the overnight ratings data on LOST - The Man Behind the Curtain. The episode promised to give answers on an unparalleled level, telling us how Ben came to be in charge of the others, who the mysterious Jacob was that supposedly controlled him, what became of the Dharma Initiative, and much more. LOST fans reacted, of course, by tuning in. While failing to win its hour in total viewers, LOST still generated enough numbers in the right demos to give ABC something to toot their horn over.

...

Analysts predict the largest chunk of LOST's audience missing from the picture is the younger crowd. LOST was a favorite for family viewing when it kicked off in the kid friendly 8:00pm time slot, and has trimmed it's younger audience gradually by shifting up an hour through subsequent seasons. Interestingly enough, the 18-49 portion of the show's audience has not varied much, and in the business side of things that is all that matters.

That said, ABC has made unprecedented changes to the shows schedule, agreeing to a three sixteen episode season deal to end the story in 2010. This was done mostly to try to recapture the shrinking fan base frustrated by the slow release of information. The time slot issue was also addressed, particularly in the tone of bring LOST back as a family adventure show vs the edgier late night rendition. In all likely hood, LOST will announce a new time slot when ABC does their up fronts next week.

That was indicated by the trailer you posted. Desmond, "This time you have to die."

Yeah, a lot of people have mentioned that Charlie was due to die this season, including myself. So I don't think he actually meant that he heard that in some spoilers.

Not to mention what Desmond said.

You know, If the island could cure Locke of four years of paralysis instantly, a little old bullet wound ought to be a breeze.

What also struck me was the very beginning of the last episode. Ben is in his tent looking at his doll when Richard walks in and asks about it. Be says it's his birthday and then ask's, "You do remember birthdays don't you?"

That just seemed like a loaded question.

The island was able to finish the job that Mikhail started on Naomi. But Shannon died from a gun shot.
Who knows.

Shannon had asthma and the island didn't bother with curing that, just ask Sawyer..hehehehe. There was no reason for it to cure her gun shot wound.

Locke on the other hand is special. It goes out of the way to cure him. Remember the bite from his dad? That healed completely in a few days. He didn't even have a scar.

I just get the feeling that Ben and the others have some seriously bad karma coming their way. I can't wait to see how that plays out

Indeed it was! Good job.
I had completely forgotten about that, even when I later saw Richard apparently not age! At first I thought it was because he was so into whatever the Others are doing, but in light of the full episode it could mean anything.

This has led me thinking... could the apparent birth problems tie into the Others' longevity? I once read a book in which the entire population of Earth had found to a way to live up to 300 years, but when a sterilising radiation entered the atmosphere their longevity prevented them from evolving an immunity to it, while every other species on the planet did.

Just a thought.
