I have taken no oaths as of yet.

Why does Masonry use Occultic symbolism ?

Why shouldn't it? You know what "occult" means, right? It means "hidden".

Is there a connection between the Occult and Masonry ?

Philosophically speaking, yes, I do believe there is. So what?

Is Freemasonry a Religion or Community Organization ?

Definite "NO" to the former, definite "yes" to the latter.

Is Freemasonry a Church or a Building within the community ?

Are you a student of the Redundancy School of Redundance?

C'MON GUYS ! CAN I GET A LAUGH OUT OF YOU ?

Almost every time you post, with the exception of those that make me want to pound my head on my desk.

Lighten up- I have ! lol

I think that should have read: "Lightin' up? I have!"

Indeed.

Axeman that response was an instant classic.

I got one -

"TRUE Christians" that quote Friedrich Nietzsche?

from TIOT's siggy:

Insanity in individuals is something rare - but in groups, parties, nations and epochs, it is the rule.
Friedrich Nietzsche (1844 - 1900)

from: plato.stanford.edu...

Friedrich Nietzsche was a German philosopher of the late 19th century who challenged the foundations of traditional morality and Christianity. He believed in life, creativity, health, and the realities of the world we live in, rather than those situated in a world beyond [Heaven].

Nietzsche set forth some of the existential ideas for which he became famous, namely, the proclamation that "God is dead" and the doctrine of "eternal recurrence"-- the idea that one is, or might be, fated to relive forever every moment of one's life, with no omission whatsoever of any pleasurable or painful detail. Nietzsche's atheism -- his account of "God's murder" (section 125) -- was voiced in reaction to the conception of a single, ultimate, judgmental authority who is privy to everyone's hidden, and personally embarrassing, secrets; his atheism also aimed to redirect people's attention to their inherent freedom, the presently-existing world, and away from all escapist, pain-relieving, heavenly otherworlds.

(emphasis and brackets mine)

So what made you quote an atheist, Mr. High and Mighty?

Don't you know that goes against God's Word?

indeed.

I recall two young men (the youngest Master one of my Lodges has had, and his friend who at the time was JD) would enjoy rehearsals tremendously - word perfect too, but always with exceptionally good spirit.
(Unfortunately some of the rehearsal stuff bored me in earlier years.)

Months later they explained to me what they used to do in the car before rehearsals, cognizant that excommunication might be their fate!

Masonic nonsense, risktakers and ganja fiends.

My Grandfather was a Freemason, I wish he was still alive.
I don't remember him much because I was 3 years old but I know he always use to spoil me and get me what I asked for.

If he was still alive I could talk to him about it.

YAWN !! - If this is your newest question ?

Why can't I quote a man regardless of their theology ? Just because I don't agree with someones philosophy or religion does not mean that I can't aknowledge one of thier personal (observances) that have nothing to do with my walk with God nor does it jeopardize christianity. I hope that you can see the difference ?

Nice Try Though !

The statement like yours just shows me that you haven't any idea what it means to be a Christian ? I wouldn't expect you too anyway ?

If you have an honest question about morality or christianty, I will be happy to discuss, but I think this is a Masonic Thread and therfore probably shouldn't talk about this here ?

Let me know !

AMAZING!!! I can't believe YOU are actually saying it's OK to quote an atheist. So it's OK to quote an atheist, but it's not OK to pray to your own God while someone of another faith prays to his god???

Axeman has no problem with this, its just not expected of you. With how againt you are of Freemasonry accepting people of other faiths and what not, it's suprising that such an extremist would quote an atheist, expecially one who's views go so far against your apparent beliefs.

Axeman can see the difference, he, like I, just didn't expect that level of understanding from the likes of and extremist fundamentalist such as yourself.

Becuase it makes you hypocritical to say that the masons and masonry is anti-christian for doing similar things???

The statement like yours just shows me that you haven't any idea what it means to be a Christian ? I wouldn't expect you too anyway ?

And conversely your statements reveal that you have no idea what masonry is about. Whats your point? You aren't the arbiter of what is required to be christian, and the very fact that you'd sit in judgement of others seems to reinforce that fact.

Hi Seba !

Saw your reply.

Just becuse I believe in Christ wholeheartedly does not make me an extremist does it ? On the other hand Jesus himself was accused of this ?

I am a human being as you are. We are both individuals with different beliefs. We should be able to accept this. I do and I think you do as well. I think that we are both stong individuals with a firm belief in what we are standing for and that's great !

Although everyone got emotional and upset with good reason on how the thread was going. I take responsibilty of my own part of that.

Just a note: Just because someone is a christian does not mean they are perfect by any means. ( Our whole life is a test on this earth ) We are all humans on earth doing the best that we can with the knowledge that we have been provided. But a christian is held accountable for his actions therefore he/she reads the bible to stay focused and on the right track. Is this so wrong ?

Please understand that I'm not being sarcastic or rude. This was not my intent of this reply at all.

Oh- By the way- I am also a Stubborn German that has been known to quote other germans in history !

Anywy- Hope I cleared the air a little.

Brother in the Lord,
Truth !

Although you are very quick to rip points from me ( Unjustly ) You are wrong calling me a Hypocrite.

Do you understand the difference in Quoting someones humerous thought or idea vs following their religion or ideas ? hmmmmmmmmmm

Makes me wonder ? What is the job of a moderator ? Are you supposed to jump in and give your opinion ? Derail the thread ? Peronalize the isssue for yourself ? Or does my being here go against your agenda ?

Or are you just upset with me and have made this a personal issue against me ? It sure seems so lately ! Do you have a problem with me or my views ? That's ok- I probably wouldn't agree with your logic either.

That's what this is all about right ? Conspiracy Discussion ?

Doesn't mean I would let my emotions runaway and go after someone !

I think that you need to stay on top of the middle part of the fence where you belong !

Another words- Stop taking sides ! Unless you truly are agenda driven and you cannot help it !

I call you an extremist because of your very literal interpretation of the bible, your intolerance for other faiths and your judgement of others who do not worship as you do.

I am a human being as you are. We are both individuals with different beliefs. We should be able to accept this. I do and I think you do as well. I think that we are both stong individuals with a firm belief in what we are standing for and that's great !

I agree, so why were you so judgemental about this just a few days ago?

Although everyone got emotional and upset with good reason on how the thread was going. I take responsibilty of my own part of that.

And I take responsibility for the part I played in that as well, as I'm sure everyone else does also. Things got out of hand, and I think you understand that this is a common occurence when you attack someone's faith and question their convictions.

But a christian is held accountable for his actions therefore he/she reads the bible to stay focused and on the right track. Is this so wrong ?

Absolutely not! Like I've said before, the Bible is an EXCELLENT, near perfect guide for living one's life. But, like all things, one must make up his own mind and not allow another person, text, or otherwise, to make his mind up FOR him. This is the problem I have with extremism.

Oh- By the way- I am also a Stubborn German that has been known to quote other germans in history !

I understand. It just seemed a bit hypocritical of you to criticize us for associating with people from other faiths, but base your mantra on a quote from an atheist. No biggie

And, by the way, Nygdan is not taking sides! He has criticized me and slammed on me MANY times when I am wrong or when I act like a hypocrite. He is just calling it as he sees it. He is a moderator, but he is also an avid participant in our conversations. Secret Societies is a topic that seems to interest him very much, and he has every right to participate and comment on others claims and posts.

Apples and Oranges still ! Aknowledging someones humerous view of something does not seperate me from God.

But believing and praying to another pagan god does !
