How is it any different from Republicans coming to the UK and campaigning for The Conservative Party?

It's no different.
If the OP, implying that it was government sanctioned/funded, was correct, then it would be an issue...but it's not, it's just lefties getting a cheap jolly off their party, to cheer on Kamala at a few rallies lol

Exactly the same as goes on with similar flavoured political parties, the world over...it's almost a non story as far as I see it!🤣

It's not really different to Farage campaigning for Trump, which I didn't hear any outrage about.

Another politician endorsing a candidate is a far cry from sending boots-on-the-ground personnel to campaign in a foreign country, don't you think?

Don't forget Putin endorsed Kamala

Our laws are different.
But more generally, it's not different and both should not be happening.
The Democrats have a UK team that campaign for Labour in the UK too.

Overall, though, I can not see how 'Russian interference' can be a thing for US elections if at the same time it's all good if a foreign country actually sends people over to the US to put boots on the ground in swing states.
We have had years of Russian interference news.
Would it be ok for the Russian political party aligned to Putin to send over teams to each swing state?

I'm not saying its right just that its nothing new and it cuts both ways.

I'd question the impact any of this will have on voting intentions and suggest its more of a learning exercise to see what they can learn from each other etc.

Russian interference is far more insidious and malicious in both countries.

Its one thing for individuals to express support, quite something else for a political party in one country to send people to campaign for a political party in another country regardless of nationality or political persuasion.

Any links?

I'll add that if they did, your gov't should have arrested them or at the very least tossed their asses on the first plane home.

'Is there a difference between…
1) a Brit coming to the US specifically to campaign for a US election
2) a Brit coming to the US in the course of his duties and while they are here campaigns for a US election"

What duties?

Previously provided on page 2.

I remember it being mentioned at the time.
There was a small hooha but then it sort of blew over.

I think its probably more common than many of us ever realised.

I think what's brought this out in the open is the numbers this time - even though I doubt 100 people campaigning for Kamala will make much of a difference in the grand scheme of things its quite a few more than usual and in an election where every vote may count.......

But I have to say if I was ever canvassed in a UK election by American campaigners they'd be told quite bluntly to get to #.....I suspect most people, be they British or American, would react pretty much the same.

Yep, if some "volunteer" showed up at my door sounding like Mary Poppins and tried to convince me to vote for Kamala she'd be told not too politely to "bugger off".

Is that the right term?

Bugger off would do.

On reflection I think the time of day and level of sobriety would determine my response; early and sober will result in a swift and unequivocal '# off', half a dozen pints or so and I think there'd be some jocular ribbing and debate. Anything more than a dozen I probably wouldn't give a toss.

My god, you are way more civilised than me!!!
I'd be well pissed off if a US citizen was at my door trying to influence my vote!
I'd ask the question "Are you a British citizen" as soon as I heard the accent, then tell them to # off immediately if they answered no.

My understanding though is that the Labour party just have a few tickets for 'Kamala events" so the leftie activists aren't doing any 'door to door' stuff, they're just filling crowd spaces.

They won't leave their 'inclusive leftie love-in' bubble, just be fanboys in the crowd...but if they ARE stupid enough to try influencing random Americans with their vote choice, then I hope they get treated the same as any American trying the same # knocking doors in my street!!🤣

Anyone knocking on my door gets told to # Right Off in no uncertain terms.
I was meaning more if someone asked my opinion/voting intentions whilst I was out and about.

But I guess I am mellowing with age - not sure Mrs F and my mates would agree with that - and I do sort of get a bit of pleasure from debating with some of these morons who canvass etc that assume that due to my age and looks that I am some sort of neanderthal half-wit; the youth of today - I've # 'em.

The only door-to-door solicitors that my late father-in-law used to tolerate were the Jehovah's Witnesses.
He would invite them in and intently listen to them do their pitch. When they were done they'd invariably ask if he had any questions, to which he would earnestly reply, "But how can I be a witness if I didn't see the accident?"
