The story of Abraham...literally the progenitor of three major religions...is told in extreme detail from the time.

It's written to emphasize the Bible's influence on American history, and strategically tucks America's founding documents and the Pledge of Allegience into the book, as if they too are "God's word".

Abraham is a mythical character. So are Adam and Eve, Noah, Moses, etc.

Are you saying that things that are "mythical" or "made up" shouldn't be taught in the classroom?

And Abe Lincoln lied like a snake

The Bible is not a history book. It may embellish some actual events, but even that's questionable.

You think history has always been recorded in the same way it is today?
Every country in the ancient world recorded history in stories, tales and allegory...in order to be pasted down through the ages.
Can't they just get it on their phones?

Mythology is a valid study. I read The Iliad and the Odyssey in high school. It wasn't taught it as actual history, even though the Trojan War really happened.
