The story of Abraham...literally the progenitor of three major religions...is told in extreme detail from the time.

Abraham is a mythical character. So are Adam and Eve, Noah, Moses, etc.

It's written to emphasize the Bible's influence on American history, and strategically tucks America's founding documents and the Pledge of Allegience into the book, as if they too are "God's word".

That is your assumption. I say all that is intertwined with the making of America. I also see this as a push back to the far left's view that all those documents are trash. As I said in another post, if the pendulum of society swings hard in one direction it swings back the same in the other direction, so I put the blame directly in the hands of the liberals with the BS anti-American attitude.

I went to a Catholic school. We studied many religions and theology in general. Not much catholic studies after 6th or 7th grade really. I transferred to a public school for my senior year. Bibles weren't allowed. I still have my Bible wrapped in a homemade black duct tape sleeve that I read in public school at home in my bathroom for toilet reading. Of course there are many other Bibles of various types around the house not delegated to the bathroom, but that's where that one stays. Probably gets the most use, lol.

How do you know... maybe Adam and Eve were metaphors for how humans began, but are you sure about all the others? Much of the bible has been traced to actual places.

Are you saying that things that are "mythical" or "made up" shouldn't be taught in the classroom?

Retarded and illegal policy that will no doubt be struck down by the courts.

I don't see the point in this sort of waste & right of center virtue signalling. You have to pass a constitutional amendment to make this work.

It's logially implied.
Don't public schools already have copies of our foumding documents and the Pledge of Allegiance? Why write a law saying those documents MUST be included on a King James Bible, otherwise? What's the logic in that?

I say all that is intertwined with the making of America.

In rebellion. America's founding documents are the opposite of biblical teachings. There is no promise of liberty and freedom, the presumption of equality, or the guarantee of freedom of speech and religion anywhere in the Bible. Those are forbidden platitudes.

The Bible is not a history book. It may embellish some actual events, but even that's questionable.

You think history has always been recorded in the same way it is today?
Every country in the ancient world recorded history in stories, tales and allegory...in order to be passed down through the ages.

Most people couldn't read or write in the past.
The Mahabharata was orally passed down.

Mythology is a valid study. I read The Iliad and the Odyssey in high school. It wasn't taught it as actual history, even though the Trojan War really happened.

Josephus was an historian. Moses, not so much.

Can't they just get it on their phones?

Trump wouldn't get money in his pocket that way.

This should have been in Conspiracies Forum.

Hypothesis:
Ryan Walters would like to be Trump's Secretary of Education. He knows enough about Trump to figure if he funnels tax payer's money straight into Trump's pocket, then yeah, he's got a shot.

Hypothesis 2:
There is a sinister plot afoot to make U.S. History into Holy History.
Johnny asks "If the United States is the chosen nation of God, how come it isn't mentioned in the Bible?"

Teacher says: "You're looking in the wrong Bible, here, see: We the people of the United States, and ...to the flag of the United States of America. See? America is the Holy Land.

--------

Rev 22:18 KJV "For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book:"

So, by your thinking, ancient history ONLY started being recorded in Roman times?
How ethnocentric.

People like you thought TROY was a myth too...until it wasn't.
