Lots of history in the bible.
They still teach history in Oklahoma schools, don't they?

My apologies to any members here who were unaware that Trump is selling Bibles now commonly known as the ''Trump Bible''

Thank you! I really enjoyed what Donald had to say. With Christianity comes freedom. All others lead to bondage

Biblical literacy has a place. If kids knew the Bible better they wouldn't fall for what preachers were telling them.

On the other hand: Just how are teachers to explain some not suitable for children passages.

A 5th grader asks:
"What's a concubine?"
"Why did the Levite cut his concubine into 12 pieces?"
"Is it right to kill a whole tribe because they didn't help destroy one of their own towns?"
"Should we practice rounding up virgins from neighboring towns and leaving them to be taken by incels?"

Maybe each student should be issued a personal Bible to read at home so they can ask their parents those and other questions. I don't know how teachers are expected to answer those questions in a state approved manner.

Isn't it just a might bit blasphemous to take historically verified words of men (DOI, COTUS, etc) and put it in a binding called Holy Bible?

What the heck? Does that mean the Deity will punish the adding of amendments to COTUS?

Any legal precedent that a Bible in a classroom establishes a specific religion?

When I was growing up we used to have bibles in schools, and it was prayer time and bible studies gathering during lunch time.

In my island we were majority Catholic soo it was normal.

When I was growing up, there was a Bible in the top dresser drawer in every hotel room. I don't know if the Bible groups put them there, or if the hotel chains did it.

It's freaking logical.

Johnny asks, "Why don't we build stone alters and sacrifice animals like Abraham did?"

What's the teacher likely to say? "Well Jesus died for our sins so we don't need to sacrifice animals."

That certainly sounds like Christianity to me.

Unless you mean just having one in a dark corner that nobody mentions.

Gideon's Society did it with permission of hotel owners.

A couple things that I noticed missing from the OP……

“We have talked about ensuring that our history courses include the role the Bible played throughout American history,” Walters said.

“But we don’t want commentary around the Bible because this is to serve as a historical reference document.”
www.yahoo.com...

Also, from the Lee Greenwood Bible website it states…

IS ANY OF THE MONEY FROM THIS BIBLE GOING TO THE DONALD J. TRUMP CAMPAIGN FOR PRESIDENT?
No, GodBlessTheUSABible.com is not political and has nothing to do with any political campaign. GodBlessTheUSABible.com is not owned, managed or controlled by Donald J. Trump, The Trump Organization, CIC Ventures LLC or any of their respective principals or affiliates.

The Bible is sufficient of itself, and does not need:

The Pledge of Allegiance.
The Declaration of Independence.
The US Constitution and Bill of Rights.

The KJV has several versions that actually contradict each other between versions. It is also still covered by copyright in the UK, but Americans after the revolutionary war chose to abandon all British copyright restrictions. The KJV also contains several errors in translation, that have been edited over the years since original authorship.

The English translation versions that are probably the closest, word for word, to the original texts are the New American Standard Version (NASB) or the English Standard Version (ESV).

GodBlessTheUSABible.com uses Donald J. Trump’s name, likeness and image under paid license from CIC Ventures LLC, which license may be terminated or revoked according to its terms.

CIC Ventures LLC is Trump's company. The same one that he sells his sneakers through. He gets the royalties, personally, in his pocket. Not affiliated with the campaign. He's gotten $300,000 off Bible royalties already.

It's a typical Trump branding. He does no work, puts up no money, puts his name on it, and makes bank, BIGLY.

CIC Ventures LLC – a company reportedly owned by Trump – on Tuesday unveiled its new "Fight Fight Fight High-Tops" sneakers that feature a photo of a bloodied Trump with his fist in the air.

It's best not to pay attention to what Oklahoma does. Unless you want to get pissed at the state things they do.

Just throw up The Satanic Temple signal.

Oh well.

After pushing the gender cult BS on kids for the last 10 years or so, they should have expected the pendulum to swing back the other way.

Hey! Don't forget the Pastafarians. They had a hand in the Ten Commandment deal. Funny, the whole "but it's History" deja vu.

Before the statue was installed in 2012 as a gift from Republican state lawmaker Mike Ritze and his family, legislators argued that it was not religious, but historic. Additionally, the U.S. Supreme Court found that a similar monument in Texas did not violate the establishment clause because it was intended to convey a historic and social meaning and did not constitute a religious endorsement.

The 6-foot-tall monument’s installation prompted other groups, from the Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster to Satanists, to try to get permission to build their own monuments on the grounds of the state Capitol to mark what they also characterize as historical events.

If your name and likeness is worth something, would you not take advantage of that with such a spectacular product, arguably the greatest book ever written?
What a fantastic opportunity for somebody to use whatever funds are raised to donate to a good cause.
Possibly the same somebody who donated their quarterly earnings($100,000) to different causes when he was president.

Yes I did miss that point and I do not disagree with it. The Bible has played an important roll in American as well as world history. That roll should be understood by all. I't's just that some people, like myself want to understand it as it is while others want to understand it as the Ultimate Truth and the Word of God.

No.

I had a large library of religious books, embossed with my name (not Alex Taylor).

One day, in a foreign land, there was a church that lacked books that they would value. They got my library. As a free gift.
