So. On topic. The ice problem?

Don't they have ice breakers in the Arctic where they are trying to claim all the area as Russian? Can't they divert those ships?

Yeah, I wasn't too convinced about the trainers thing - I am most discerning when it comes to what trainers I wear - but the other cases in the article are reasonably well sourced and accepted.

But enough of the frivolity, as carpy said; what about the ice problem?
If Russia has truly found a solution to this perennial problem that has beset them for centuries then that would be truly noteworthy.

Yes, they do. Good point. And global warming....I mean, climate change.

Unless those icebreakers are about as reliable as their aircraft carrier etc......

The Russian icebreaker fleet makes up 90% of the world's entire icebreaker fleet, especially the nuclear one. There are no nuclear icebreakers in the world, except Russia. Quite recently, another Combat Icebreaker was put into service, armed with Caliber and Zircon missiles, as well as combat helicopters, created for any provocations of the NATO fleet in the Northern Sea Corridor, created as an alternative to traditional maritime transport controlled by NATO countries.
I will create a topic on ATC dedicated to these events in the near future.

For me, Carpi’s opinion is zero, because of his insults towards me personally. I don’t answer him, like almost all Englishmen. I consider you a relatively sane interlocutor, so I am answering you. Just move away from the Russophobia instilled by the Western media and listen to the simple Russian person that I am on our forum. Thank you.

Old Carpy insulted your aircraft not you. Are you your aircraft?

Insults?

You forget your constant threats of nuclear annihilation aimed at me personally and my country.

So much for freedom of speech and listening to alternative opinions?

On October 25, 2019, a solemn ceremony of launching the Project 23550 ice-class patrol ship “Ivan Papanin”, which is being built for the Russian Navy, took place at the Admiralty Shipyards. It is designed to protect Arctic water resources, escort and tow detained ships to port, escort and support support vessels. In addition, it has the ability to hit sea, coastal and air targets and can overcome ice about 1.7 m thick. Designed by the Almaz Central Marine Design Bureau.

The ship was laid down on April 19, 2017. After completion, the ship was armed with a man-portable anti-aircraft missile system, Caliber and Zircon missiles, and an artillery mount. Now the corral has been launched, passed factory tests and put into service.

In addition, in November 2023, in the presence of President Putin, the second ship of this series, Nikolai Zubov, was laid down, which is currently under construction.

I always listen to you RT.
Most of our exchanges are almost banter like.
Sure on the odd occasion we may push each other a bit too far but all is generally good.

We are on diametrically opposed sides when it comes to the war in Ukraine and I very much doubt this will change any time soon.
But I will always defend you're right to post here - in fact I have done so in the past - and often enjoy our barbed and spikey conversations and at least you attempt to inject some humour even if that goes way over some people's heads.

Sometimes I think you're losing the plot and at times I'm sure you feel the same about me.

As for carpy' he's a big boy and more than capable of looking after himself....but I doubt he's too dissimilar to myself.

Maybe one day when this damned, senseless war ends we'll be able to enjoy that bottle of Scotch and those fine cigars together in person and talk absolute bollocks to each other......until then; Back to the fray!

Why would a Russian combat icebreaker be armed with American and Canadian missiles? Russian missiles are more productive, efficient, modern and combat-tested)))

No, I was asking what protective characteristics does it have to be able to take missile fire?

As ever, you are responsible for your posts.

Like the countless English bashing ones insulting me, my country, Royal family etc and threatening me personally with invasion and nuclear annihilation , sport.

We English have a saying: " If you can't take it, don't dish it out".

Now, go cry to a Mod.

Combat operations in the Arctic are a special matter. NATO does not even remotely have the capabilities to carry out these actions. But Russia is proactive in order to stop any threats that could hypothetically arise in the future. NATO does not even remotely have such capabilities, only empty threats.
