Hello ATS!

Against the backdrop of the catastrophic decline in trade through the Suez Canal due to the actions of the Houthis, and the rapid development of the Northern Sea Route through the Arctic along the coast of Russia, the first cargo went along the new North-South transport corridor.

On July 20, the first cargo in the form of 9,500 tons of coal departed along the North-South international transport route from Russia to India. This was reported by Tasnim News, with reference to the head of the Railways of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Miad Salehi.

The North-South corridor is a transport route from the Baltic to Mumbai and passes through Central and Southern Russia, the Caspian Sea and Iran. It was started in 2002, but under the conditions of anti-Russian sanctions, Moscow and Tehran decided to rebuke its construction.

The project was conceived as a shorter and cheaper trade route that would replace the current route through the Suez Canal. According to the Indian Shipping Register, North-South will reduce the delivery time of goods from India to the European region by 2-3 times (it will be approximately 23 days instead of the current 45-60 days) and will reduce associated transport costs by a third.

Russian coal arrived at the Iranian port of Bandar Abbas and then went by sea to its final destination - the port of Mumbai in India.

The new transport routes being implemented make the huge American fleet meaningless, since soon there will be nothing to control.

Thank you.

Is that new route going along the coast of Saudi Arabia? If so, issues may arise there.

The Iranian port of Bandar Abbas is located in the Strait of Hormuz. To the south are the UAE and Oman.

My question is do they travel within the coastal boundaries of Saudi Arabia to get to the Port of Bandar Abbas?

No. The route does not pass through Saudi Arabian territorial waters. But the sea part of the route is planned to be extended to Sudan with access by rail to the Sahel countries.

Sudan's part in all this may play a very critical role in the future.

After they began with Russian supplied arms to despots and rebels???

Are Russia also getting scared of being caught breaking imbargos and sanctions??? Got to get that income up because Putin has almost broke the country's banks with his little war...

There are currently two Wagner PMC corps operating in the region - Arab, based in Libya, and African, based in the Central African Republic.

You don't owe me anything, just like I don't owe you anything. This information is well known and has been repeatedly published in thousands of media outlets. True, I’m not sure that in Western countries too.

Regarding Wagner's Afrika Korps. There was even a feature film "Tourist" made. The demonstration of this film attracted tens of thousands of people in the Central African Republic. There were Russian flags and flags of the Wagner PMC everywhere.
Both corps, the Arab and African Corps, are supervised by the famous General Sergei Surovikin, the one who created the famous “Surovikin Line”, on which the entire military power of NATO broke its teeth during the “Ukrainian counter-offensive” in the summer of 2023.

No, it didn't.

Entire military power of NATO? All of its air power, troops, armour and navies?

No. You are making stuff up.

That was a truly remarkable claim even by RT's standards.

And I thought the topic of the thread was this new North-South trade route that is going to render The Suez Canal obsolete and along with it the US Merchant Fleet 'meaningless' apparently.

This General Sergey Surovikin?

edition.cnn.com...

"He was put in charge of the conflict in October 2022, shortly after a major explosion severely damaged the Kerch bridge connecting the annexed Crimean Peninsula to mainland Russia. Surovikin was removed from that post just months later.

He has not been seen in public since June, when he released a video pleading for Wagner leader Yevgeny Prigozhin to stop his insurrection. A Russian lawmaker said in July that Surovikin is “resting.”

He was "fired" in 2022.

From your source:

Would that be 'resting in peace'?
