Oh please, take pilots for example. All pilots have to meet the same criteria to fly. Yet the RW pundits with millions of followers claim that any minority pilot is a DEI hire and not qualified.

I notice no one ever calls Justice Comey Barrett a DEI hire and states she is not qualified. She is the only one on the bench who had never tried even one case, she she had never been a judge, never worked in the government as a prosecutor, defense lawyer, solicitor general, or attorney general, or served as counsel to any legislative body. Her records for 30 years consisted of 1,800 pages. In contrast to the hundreds of thousands of pages of records the other judges had. She could only recall 3 cases she ever worked on.

Yet Justice Jackson, with just noting one qualification: served on the United States District Court for the District of Columbia for nearly 8 years, giving her more trial court experience than any sitting Supreme Court justice and more than any justice since Edward Sanford, who was nominated to the Supreme Court in 1923. There is much more than this.
She is called a DEI hire here on ATS and elsewhere. Why is that?

The highest beneficiary of DEI is white women, yet this issue is usually only focused on people of color.

What happened with Kamala is exactly that ... she got her start in politics by being the side chick for an older married man who pushed her career up the rungs. Willie Brown knee pads. And yeah .. she is inferior because she's incompetent. Her skin color is irrelevant to her lack of competency. She's further left than Bernie Sanders and that fact makes her fair game ... skin color or not.

I have made no such claim, so not sure why you are coming at me sideways like that.

I will never say that any DEI hire cannot be qualified.

But, if they are less qualified than another candidate and get hired anyways, I have a problem with that.

I have the same formal training as all of my coworkers, but I would expect some of them to get promoted over me due to having more experience and outside knowledge than me.

Because finding a qualified woman of color, who could speak to and bring in a critical voting segment of women, and especially women of color, would be impossible.

Minorities and women have been overachieving forever, just like every other race and sex.
Overachievers aren’t confined to any specific race or sex.
I feel dumb having to tell you that when your parents should have.

If my state were doing true best and brightest EVERYONE WOULD BE ASIAN. Especially in education.

UC System had to FORCE a cap at around 40% enrollment on the Asians. Even though we banned Affirmative Action in admissions in 1996, UC still had race quotas. Long before DEI.

Traditionially they'd take the white kid with a 3.8 GPA and an 1150 SAT, but decline the 4.0 Korean girl with a 1270, because (racistly) EVERY Korean girl has a 4.0 and 1270 SAT. Sorry if she wanted to be a Bruin, but it looks like she can be an Anteater (maybe) but more likely a Highlander. Meth and fruit orchards (that's all I know about Riverside) are just as much fun as Westwood.
