You can still find the threads in user profiles by plugging the title into the search feature.

The few I looked up from the list are mud pit threads.

I appreciate you bringing this up.

I posted a thread asking some of these same questions.

It was moved to the trash bin in 15 minutes.

It can’t be that expensive.

I have have sites before.

Not near as big as this site though.

I don’t want to see this site go under.

I have not been able to post a picture in three years.

That’s why I quit making threads.

Anyhow, I thought web sites were public information.

Guess not…

Well, let's consider that for a moment; why would some group want to ban selected members from a particular political persuasion or ideology? We can't allow ourselves to get lulled into the notion that these groups are unbiased (if they exist); on the contrary, chances are they are highly biased. Soooo...why get distracted by opposing viewpoints of your target focus? Remove the "noise', so you can study your subject more closely. And, by doing so, add fuel to your focus' existing fire. And/or, see how far you can push them (as well as how they react) with the agenda driven narrative.

I'm not saying this is the case, just more responding to your devil's advocate point.

edit - In other words, I would sincerely doubt there is anything truly 'scientific' about such an exercise, but rather a solution in search of a problem.

Do you recall if they were all mud-pit? Because some of them don't appear to be. (although all of them 404 now, so there's no sub-forum in the URL, hence my question).

The threads never had the sub-forum on the URL, only the thread ID.

The certificate is there, I'd be more concerned with the version tls etc but anyway, what I've noticed is the upload file page where a web shell could have been uploaded to in php is gone and a plethora of sql errors have been corrected. When I see the DB isn't clean it sure looks clean but I haven't tested it in a long time. Also the passwords to the mail server on a different ip address have been fixed. At least it was a different ip back then. If the mods allow it and the members want it, I'd be happy to do a pen test on the entire domain and network area free of charge. It will be non-invasive, and will not slow traffic in the slightest. However, if I have to write a professional report about it I'm going to charge so all you will hear from me is "You're good to go" or "You need to update this this and this" or "get rid of this because this is what I can do with it."

It’s all speculation. However, there was no political officiation in the purge. Which also leads to it not being government owned. The purge was clearly personal vendettas. Which also points to a disgruntled former banned member being the new owner. I have my own examples. Basically, anyone that defied Chris , in any shape or form - got banned. It wasn’t bought by any 3 letter ORG. A douche bought the place. Which exactly what you and I were trying to avoid 4 years ago with our endeavor to buy the place ourselves. And here we are…….

Yes, despite the elevated blood pressure levels and venon spewing which occasionally took place in the mud-pit, there was also an avalanche of really well thought out and informed debates there as well. I suspect it was a nightmare to moderate, but that doesn't change what it was.

It was the most popular forum at one point. Myself, I sometimes posted thread there that might have been better suited to other forums but posted them there just so more people would see it and it would spark more discussion.

I’ve been thinking this for a while as well.
ATS members are a decent cross-cut of society as a whole. We would make a good study.

Additionally the condition of ATS due to the Darko abandonment is a great study as well.

Not sure if it’s been mentioned (I’m at work but trying to keep up) but…

It has shown how people react after an event that leaves no governance and a feeling of impending doom.

Some members ran amuck, some went on revenge rampages, others tried to hold it together, some banded together to deflect attacks on others.

Members met at the bug out point (Discord).
Plans were made to reinstall local government and Mods were reinstated.

The list goes on. I’ve been thinking about starting a thread on that for a while but unfortunately time didn’t allow.

I missed all of this.
sounds like it would have been very interesting to watch from a study perspective.

Would the 404'd threads be retrievable from the Wayback Machine? I have no idea how that thing works, so sorry if that's a dumb question.

You'll have to find and ask the owner about that (good luck).

Moderators have no voice in these matters.

Indeed I have missed those. Had i seen them I would have joined in lampooning their remarks though I doubt any of that would nave made a difference to many posters here who proclaim over and over that I am a supporter of Biden.
when I say ''go Joe'' i mean go ''away'' ..

A lot of people feel that way, Bingo; the only reason many are going to vote for Trump is because he's not Biden, and vice versa.

I still am not convinced Biden will be on the ballot; that's just too illogical to contemplate.

MrsDarko was online when we had the hack. She said that they were trying to figure out where a lot of the threads had vanished to. I checked what she was saying and it was true a large number of threads were missing. Most didn't believe it was her, but I still believe it was. She had behind the scene information no one could have known unless it was the hacker. But there was another hacker too who was fixing things in their own way. They hacked my U2U to let me know they were there.

Welcome to the post apocalyptic world of ATS.

The simulation is still underway, and you, fellow member, only missed the beginning.

Or possibly the end, should the abandoned server melt down and destroy ATS Planet forever!

I personally think this Lord Of The Flies experiment will continue.

how do you know this is not hosted on someone's work server as it's own domain? (then there would be no costs beside yearly or whatever site name payment) I've seen that plenty of times when stumbling into a root folders of a business and finding other websites buried within.

That's how he was elected the first time.

Anybody but Hillary won that election...period.
