I was 21 years old, single and in college when I found ATS. Today I'm 44 years old and married with 4 kids. I lurked for many years before joining but it was 9/11/01 when I searched the web that day and found ATS... and I've been on this site every single day since.

Biggest thing for me that was never solved was the whole ordeal with "the member we're not allowed to mention" and how he told certain members when to look up at the sky and they saw exactly what he told them they would.

My favorite member on this site is and always will be zaphod54

ATS doesn't HAVE "months".

They said the same thing about all 3 of Trump's campaigns, and we've seen how well that line of thinking's turned out for Dems.

Are you saying that ATS will just "shut down" - which, trust me, ain't happening - it's been here forever, and it'll still be here forever, just populated with basically the more-elderly truthers until they all die out).

from what I witnessed last year, it seemed like they really hated the idea of making ATS an actual forum that people would use in 2024, and instead really seemed to like the idea of bumping up anti-trans posts like crazy to make everyone look bad a few months later when the anti-trans shooting thingie happpened), and Idk if all of that stupidity was to pin stuff on the new owners of the site (who were here for about 5 minutes before bowing out) or to simply make the forum look like a bunch of hateful losers that no one really wants to be a part of, anyway...

so it seems like theyve basically been keeping the site up, which to me (even though I didn't really vibe with them and I didn't really like the idea of anything changing, bc I wouldn't pay for ATS as it is, tbh)

but it sorta felt like the metaphysical equivalent of giving the laptop back to gramps because he wants to "play his solitaire", even though you'd really like to use it to play AC Origins.)

Wait....what?

This is a story I'd love to hear.

Maybe a brief synopsis via PM?

This may be the most out there one. For many reasons. And will undoubtedly make me look crazy, even here.

Gangstalking, and what I felt was a deliberate covert phenomenon that goes along with it.

I wanted to know why sane people (like myself and my friends) were being driven insane by religious narratives, including deliberate online interaction meant to get in peoples heads. Or get mocked trying to capture all the people doing things to screw with them in real life. Get screwed with and then told they are crazy. What vetting process is possibly worth that? What requires an effort to break people like that?

This account was resurrected in 2020 and initially used in service of turning a cyber-stalked online account against itself (by eliminating the targeted individual) with an unspoken curveball. And it was beautifully untraceable to its assumed caretaker until the freaking account was inexplicably locked out.

Not saying the NSA was to blame, or secretly bought ATS to screw with it and let it die, but I didn't come here because I'm normal, or even under normal circumstances.

And since that's over now, and this site is winding down, it's fun to look back at this accounts path, and draw attention to something that really didn't need to be.

In any case I really enjoyed my time with this account, aedit. The outlet this site provided, despite the stupid name.

That's a really interesting theory. The whole 'new owners' thing and their disappearance has seemed so strange to me, and of course I have been struggling to find the conspiracy(s) surrounding it!

Eta: I have to admit I've considered the new owners may have been guv. or other entities determined to stop the flow of information that's anti-agenda, and ATS has a pretty large following that's tenatious at finding infrotmation TPTB never want to see the light of day.

What's happening here is way more interesting than me being somewhat of a 4-Chan troll at heart. Just the story that brought me here.

And I have a tendency to be paranoid and wrong. The way back machine is littered with sites bought just to shut down. Some more humorous than others. I don't think that's the case here though.

I'm done really thinking too much on it and benefit of doubt is given. I will feel sad when that clock on DI drops below 24 hours, despite only being really active a few years.

A final day thank you. Not feeling the anxiety others are, but it's a bit somber. Plus the landing spot at DI is a pretty damn good one. In many ways, superior. Really enjoy it.

So it's not all bad. Can start anew.

I'm not sure what I was looking for 19 or 20 years ago. I'm not the same person I was back then. I was more innocent and more naive about life, about the internet, about social media, about politics, about Hollywood.

You actually raise a good point, perhaps without realizing it.

Many of us are indeed 'not the same' since having joined ATS. I know I'm not. I've always had a cynical side, bordering on what some might characterize as paranoid. The reality though is, that cynicism and alleged paranoia turned out to be true more often than false. ATS brought this to light, it broadened our horizons whether we liked it or not.

I can't speak for others, but I always read ALL the replies in a thread I was interested in, not just the ones which agreed with my point of view. I generally tried to do this before I replied to any. There was more than once when my initial thought for a response was stopped dead in its tracks by some opposing viewpoint which, while I didn't agree with it, made enough sense to warrant further investigation before replying.

People often opine here about the ever increasing trend towards more political discussions, and less about supernatural ones. This observation is accurate, but not because the world all of a sudden became more political. The larger reason for this trend is because political issues have become a larger part of our lives, and the reason for this is because governments and politics have expanded exponentially in the last 2 decades.

If you look at the incremental change of governmental "reach" over peoples day to day lives from say the year 1800 to the year 2000, you see very little change. If you look at the change from 2000 to today, 2024, the length and breadth of governmental overreach is mind-blowing! It's not just the US either, it's everywhere. In less than 30 years government control over people's lives has increased more than it has in nearly 200 years before that time. That's pretty dramatic, so it stands to reason people's topics of discussion would change accordingly.

I wasn't equating my dates to presidential terms as those are irrelevant to my point. This isn't only about the US, but rather the World at large.

I absolutely agree, but these talking points weren't just presidential terms, it was a part of the psychological warfare embedded within the events surrounding 9-11. no opportunity wasted.

There once was a thread by an older member in regards to 9-11 where there was a lot of evidence presented from government documents prior to 9-11. It was all part of the global plan. That was the thread that got me stuck here, I used to think that any site that would allow that type of information to be posted and discussed must be a good place...

all trace of said member and anything they posted was deleted from the site in the 05 update, there was a short thread where Skip took the time to address the community and explain why some content was removed, now there is simply no trace it ever happened, much like my original account, all threads and account simply removed, and that was done only recently (within the last year because I asked for my account back)

Now I'm not saying there is any conspiracy here I'm just saying, just because I'm paranoid doesn't mean they aren't out to get us

(This is my second acct... when we lost our accounts I just never went back to my old one which was just Macsen191... )

Cool thread OP, S&F.

I first discovered this place somewhere in the mid 00s I think, maybe late 00s, searching for information about Aurora (which it now seems likely didn't exist.) I lurked here for years and didn't join until 2016. The incredible amount of lying about Trump just became irresistible to me and I had to respond to some of it. Lies are part of every political campaign but they took it next level with him. I remember the NY Times apologizing for it after the election. It was that bad.

I registered a new name after that snafu where login information got lost. It was just quicker and easier than recovering my old one (face23785).
