Why are you focusing on the definition of the who in that question but cannot answer the actual question?

You are seeming to be setting up a distraction rather than actually wanting clarification.

It has to do with intent and context...yeah, still haven't got a specific definition from the OP. He only supposes.

why don't you go find a thread you can derail that isn't this one. I realize you have a mission here to be the best DERP you can, and trust me on this, you have my vote. But others may actually want to offer an answer.

So you finally decided to explain what you mean by 'left' a little late in the game, next time do better in your opening post.

that was my mistake. I just ASSumed that the people here on ATS were smart enough to understand the basics. I was incorrect.

It’s so exhausting dealing with the Liberals and all their deflecting, double talk and refusing to give straight answers to simple questions.

now the bigger question can be asked.

Are they not answering because they aren't smart enough,

or is it because they are afraid the answer will make them realize how silly they have been acting?

Yes, most of them are not very bright...but the main reason they won't answer, is because nobody has actually told them what their answer should be yet.

Correcto mundo. It’s really sad that so many of the left have no critical thinking skills anymore. All they seem capable of is parroting what nbc or cnn has brainwashed them to say, even sadder programed them how to think. Not just here of course but SM in general. I really notice it on facebook in political post, not a independent critical thought to be had. What’s entertaining to watch though is the way the left will parrot straight up debunked lies because they haven’t caught up on the latest propaganda in a few days. This happened to me today someone was saying I was lying until I posted the video showing the truth, it went crickets🤣

I would take my crititical analysis abilities, and IQ, against anyone. What you say is simply not true. If I didn't like to consider all sides of a situation I wouldn't be here, I'd be floating around the sites you mentioned above. Reality is I research things A LOT. So no, sorry to disappoint you but some of us look at things very critically. We just don't come to the same conclusions as you and that upsets you for some reason.

Been lots of new self proclaimed smart people lately.

Turns out that when put in a situation where they are able to demonstrate this intelligence, they categorically fail.

FYI, I'm the site moron. Just so the bar is crystal clear ....

First define what you mean by 'left'?

Immediate shameless 7-word full derail attempt. Second post, ONE MINUTE.

Not a whiff of shame.

What a hoot.

One thing seems to be consistent with regard to the message the left is offering. Donald J. Trump is a threat to democracy. That sounds like something that matters. Something big. Something important. So if this is really this important, I think it's imperative that those of us who don't get this, understand what you mean. Those of us on the right MUST grasp the "why" part of the threat to democracy.

I can't guarantee that everyone will be nice, but I can say that this question is sincere. If it's real, it this is a real thing, and Trump is honestly a threat to democracy, we all need to understand why so we don't have a bad time.

Please offer a real coherent explanation of what this means.

Well I'm only a left leaning moderate, not a lefty per se but sure I can summarize this up easily:

- Trump already refused to honor the free and fair election he lost. The peaceful transfer of power is a tenant of democracy. When someone who clearly lost, refuses to concede, it stains democracy. If he had concerns, which he did, the proper route was to go through the courts. They courts threw all 62 court cases out. He lost and refused to concede.
- He was involved in the setup and execuatio of a fake elector's plot, which again seeks to go around the democratic election process.
- He made a very threatening phone call to try and get the Georgia results overturned. Again, interfering in a democratic process.

If he would have just come out after his challenges got shut down, and conceded, my guess is the left would not be screaming this today.

Just my humble 2 cents.

thanks for answering the question. I don't agree with the points, but I don't have to.

I would ask you if you are serious in thinking that it Trump had admitted Joe Biden beat him fair and square, the left would not be this upset. That doesn't compute on my end.

Speaking for myself, yes, if Trump had admitted that Biden had beat him fair and square I would still think that Trump is a not-too-bright, career white-collar criminal, with an extreme Narcissistic-Sociopathic Personality, and a dangerously inadequate management style and for all those reasons I would not want to see him in the Oval Office again. For all those reasons, I think he would be a threat to the welfare of the nation, but I wouldn't think that he is a threat to democracy.

The threat to democracy occurred when Trump tried to do an end-run around the rules that required him to leave power behind after he lost. That's not just a momentary difference of opinion on his policies as POTUS, that's an attempt to unilaterally elevate himself above the fundamental process by which power flows through our nation--potentially forever. Furthermore, that impulse to try to break the rules is not just a one-off momentary lapse of judgment. It's an intrinsic part of the Narcissistic Personality. He's been not playing by the rules his entire life, and I honestly think you would have to be an idiot to think he wouldn't try it again if given the chance.

And if he didn't leave, you would have a point, he did and you don't.

Because he didn't have a choice. The military would have gone in and removed him....lol

In my humble opinion, my point still stands because to this day he has never conceded and used the words "I lost the 2020 free and fair election."

If he did that it would go a long way in repairing his reputation with some on the left. Others will continue to hold a grudge.

He didn’t refuse to leave the WH, but he’s guilty of not saying what you want him to say. Thus he is just guilty …. Doesn’t matter “what of” lol.

This is what makes you a genius ?

Haha I love you guys. So fun.

Still waiting on Dude to define it, it's his thread not yours.

It's everyone's thread guy.

But here's a question. Why do people on the left seem to want to make words meaningless? Destroy the language? Is it to make it impossible to have a meaningful conversation?

What does "woman" mean? What is the definition of "is" (Bill Clinton did that one) what is left? What is anything?

This is kind of garbage and calling people racist is all these people got it seems like.

Removing the subjectiveness the sole question remains.

Why/how is Trump a threat to democracy?

Seems that they'd rather quibble over semantics than address the question. Which is fine, but if one believes something then doesn't it stand to reason they'd want to opine in it?

Why does it stand to reason? I much prefer to sit to reason, much less tiresome.

No, most just seem to want to say all they can about the question without having to say the answer. Others say what they are told to say without any reasoning about why they were told to do so or any supporting argument. It is as if they haven't been told how to respond to certain questions other than the official 'Trump bad' things.

Is there an answer anyone that asks that question would accept?

But I'll run through a hypothetical for you.

What if abortion is enough of an issue to swing the vote in favor of the candidate who will veto any congressional effort towards a national ban? And in just as shocking a result as when Hillary lost, the women's vote sways the election. And like when Hillary had 85% implied odds something really unexpected happens.

What if that legitimately happens and wins Biden another term?

Would you ever accept that as a possible outcome?
Is there any outcome where Trump loses that won't result in denial to the results validity? All hell breaking lose? Another 2000 Dominion Machines?

If that is an "impossible scenario" for you, you've answered why I think he's a threat. The inability of him or his most ardent supporters to accept his defeat as legitimate.

Even if it is, it won't be.

Trump Derrangement Syndrome is hilarious. Especially the angry one Fox News brought on to cry about the SCOTUS ruling. In 2016 they melted down with hashtags on social media and went to protests.

And while TDS-A is funny, Trump Denial Syndrome (TDS-B) could lead to a militia-driven civil war over a legitimate result in the worst case scenario.

This country is now set up to where "No legitimate result could beat Trump," and that's why I think he's a threat.

Because there could be a legitimate result that beats him, and a large portion would rather burn it all than accept that result again. As they've been largely conditioned to think it's all rigged for 4 solid years.

This is about Trump and why I think he's a threat. And an unlikely hypothetical scenario for when it could apply. I answered that. This isn't about Captain Braintrust, and his lack of awareness, or inability to think under duress.

My choice is losing today, a few delegates sprinkled, and I will likely write-in a joke candidate in protest that my choices are 'the deceiver' vs. 'the demented' again.

And I can't really get pissed until congress tries something in 2025. Wait and see mode.

I will be fairly insulated from any red state-driven changes if current standard holds, I just hope it stays that way.

I happen to think a women has the right to abort until the child turns 18, especially if the parents can be held liable if the child kills someone. But I'm probably on an island with that view either way it is murder and I don't care how anyone wants to try to dance around it.

Been called on for what exactly? I came here to learn. I've asked people to provide evidence and facts to back up their claims. To date not a single poster has provided credible evidence to anything I've asked for. If that's what I've been "called on" then sure I guess??

Well it amuses me that people who do not agree with the talking points here get labelled as not having critical skills. Especially on a site who's tagline is "Deny ignorance." Then you present something that contradicts their beliefs and they ignore they evidence and just telling you you lack critical thinking skills. It's ridiculous.

When you use it to attack other people that's not exactly the best use of the freedom of speech.

Besides that, this is literally a thread that someone asked about why those on the left think certain things. We answer and you attack??
