"Ironic" isn't the word I would use.

In the staff forum, we've used all the words. Pretty sure we even made up a couple of new ones. At this point the choices are to laugh about it and press on, or yell at a cloud. I'm firmly in the laugh column.

Pretty obvious they lost interest in ATS.

ATS isn't public and has no stock for sale to outsiders on a brokered exchange.

Someone obviously bought it but their motives for doing so are unknown. So is their identity, which is weird AF.

I'm almost in the "Who Cares?" camp but then something tweaks me so I started tweaking others too.

the bottom line is that if the site owners don't reregister the domain name by the 18th of May, then ATS should go dark May 23. The information what was provided said that there are five 'grace' days given from the time the domain name goes away, until the site goes dark.

So we watch the website that was given earlier HERE to see if the date for the domain name changes. If it does, that means the owners are still around somewhere and intend to keep ATS up and running. If the date doesn't change ... then May 22 will be chaos and lights out on May 23.

MAY 22 CHAOS ... I'm expecting this place to be like the week it was when there were no moderators around a few months back. Everyone saying exactly what they think without worrying about being banned because the site is going black the next day anyways.

I just clicked your link to try and there is no way to contact the domain holder. Try it for yourself if you want. It says to contact domain holder use this webpage, but the page they show is the page that you are currently on so it's a circular clusterf#ck.

How apropos is that?

Meaning their motive was to let it die/kill it. I’m leaning that way anyways. Not that it matters. It all be what it will be.

It cracked me up. I wonder if this fatal day will be announced with sirens and emergency podcast on TV like in that Purge movie. It sounds almost biblical; hell will break loose on May 22 and then there will be the end...

It can be worse. The hell might break loose on May 22 and there will be no end. I mean if I were the forum's evil owner I would let the people lose their minds on May 22 and then changed their avatars into donkeys on May 23.

There's no visible sign of malice on the owners' part though. There's just lack of care about the maintenance issues. It doesn't mean everything will stop by the end of May. One can pay for the hosting service and not pay for the maintenance; solving the tech issues. I think the latter is more costly and difficult. The site might be languishing for years until it becomes dysfunctional. This is the most probable scenario though I wouldn't bet all my money on it.

If the domain name date doesn't change and it stays May 18 .... I'm wondering if the moderators are going to bother moderating on May 22 when everyone acts like it's a full moon ... it'll be entertaining anyways.

I’m just curious, why are you so sure that the Godaddy domain doesn’t auto renew?

I have a domain through Godaddy and it automatically renews every year. I don’t have to manually do anything.
