And that was my reply that you chose not to answer but go about something else completely after said it was a bill... That's not true as it's a law of the State of Florida (not a bill anymore)

Dude! This is what you posted:

You forgot the fact that the vast majority of senators and house representatives voted in favour of the bill. Both republicans and democrats. Which makes the issue much less 'controversial'.

www.abovetopsecret.com...

To which I asked:

What bill is that?

www.abovetopsecret.com...

You also seem to have an issue with reporting these alleged crimes.

Indeed. Nobody should be required by law to report a physical assault, being forced to talk to law enforcement about their rape, and relive it again and again, in order to be eligible for medical intervention to stem the results of said assault. Especially not a child.

Who is required by law to report an assault? Or forced to report it? People are not forced to report crimes.

Under a new law in Florida, rape victims are required to provide documentation and police reports in order to obtain abortions after six weeks

Not only that:

The bill would also mandate that the doctor notify Florida’s central abuse hotline of the rape or incest incident if the mother is a minor, as required by state law.

Oh no, rapists' are getting reported to law enforcement.

What a terrible idea

How will our society ever move on from criminals being held accountable for their actions?

Only if they want an abortion, otherwise they are free to keep quiet about it, as most do anyway. So another right is taken away from minors and their parents who don't want their child's life ruined more than it already has been.

And they are choosing to ruin even more peoples lives when they choose not to come forward against their attacker.

The longer those animals are on the loose, the more women's, and their families, lives they can destroy.

I don't disagree with that sentiment, but you are I are not in the shoes of the child nor the parents, so we really have no say in the matter because we don't know the mental state of the child or the parents or how they are coping, but taking away their privacy and freedom of rights of the child and parents to choose a right path for the wellbeing of the child is wrong.

Anyone with a conscious would know that taking that person off the streets is what is best for everyone, the child included.

They are only leaving the possibility of it happening, to them and others, again and again.

They are protecting the criminal as much, if not more, than they are protecting themselves by not saying anything about it

The only way for every victim to report every rapist is to remove all obstacles required of the child and parents to move forward with their healing and/or choices for further healing.

As I stated previously, with the threat of the death penalty now in place the rapist may think they have no other choice but murder and hiding the body.

Nothing about these new laws makes any sense in the reality of the situation.

There are a handful of you that are dead set that if a child molester has the likely hood of getting caught now that they will just kill the kid.

And for the life of my I don't understand how you guys come up with this stupid crap.

The percentage of child molesters that kill their victims is only 7%, that means that you believe that the other 93% will turn into killers over night?

Do you hear the BS that comes out of your mouth when you speak?

That's an unsubstantiated view that has been introduced by Sookiechacha and adopted by you but has no basis in common sense and logic. Basically your argument is rape and murder on the top of rape will save the offender...

I suppose you think whatever comes out of Evangelist white male politician's mouths in Florida is god sent? They are isolated and are only looking for targeted votes.

You all need to acknowledge experiences and truths from other women and children of the world who have been brutalized for centuries:

Feminists and women’s organisations are of the view that capital punishment for rape does not deter rape, nor does it protect the rights of the victim. According to women’s and child rights activists in India, it is ‘dangerous and counterproductive to perpetuate the myth that a higher sentence or the death sentence will serve the cause of victims’. Among the key reasons propounded by feminists as to why the death penalty is not the answer to rape are the following. First, sentencing rapists to death and executing them only serve to distract the people from the real causes of sexual violence—the institutionalised gender-based biases that perpetuate violence committed against women.

According to her, an execution gives a false assurance that rape is a ‘rarest of the rare’ act committed by strangers, when in fact rapists are usually not strangers but men known to the victims. She added that ‘rape is a product of our patriarchal society, not an isolated rare instance’. Similarly, Psychiatrist Jaydip Sarkar argues that ‘blaming and punishing the perpetrator alone will not address the underlying belief systems, based in a patriarchal culture that gives rise to various myths that trigger, promote and sustain sexual assaults and rape on women’.

Second, killing rapists is not the appropriate response to address the needs of victims/survivors. Branham states that many victims/survivors ‘have needs that have nothing to do with achieving a sentence of death’. Tagusari, focusing on Japan, notes that ‘an approach that places a great emphasis on the punishment pushes aside, and in some cases even denies, the importance of recovery of victims and their need for support’

To truly advance women’s rights, responses to rape should aim at dismantling the institutions that perpetuate sexual violence on women. Further, instead of focusing on executing convicted rapists, the State should devote more resources to provide better support for survivors, through interventions that prioritise ‘the rights, needs, and wishes of the survivor’—and that place her rights and dignity at the centre.

So, again, taking away the rights for privacy and solutions for the child and parents to move forward in their healing is not justice.

I have never seen such a terrible argument that make all or most of child rapists, murderers...and then it's used to argue rapists will now kill more of their victims and they are not going to receive the death penalty.

Clearly you don't know what you're talking about. Only two of you have made these arguments that have no basis in anything other than your unsubstantiated interpretations.

You need a reality check I am afraid.

Florida has now passed a bill that if you rape a child 12 years of age or under you could face the death penalty.

The bill has been with the vast majority of republicans and democrats voting in both the house and senate.

groomers will groom.

they won't stop because of laws, or penalties, they will fight to remove those obstacles so they can groom and rape.
When you find you are arguing for the rights of a person who would rape a child, you really need to re-evaluate your position on the food chain.

You are missing the point, that being, systemic sexual abuse within our western society and the same thing is happening, a failure to address the systemic problems.

It is estimated that only 19% of rapes, completed or attempted, are reported annually. This figure runs consistently across the board. The general consensus is that rape is still considered something shameful, hence victim reluctance.

So let's assume only 20% of all rapes are reported, then the number below (652,676) will be only 20% of the total of sexual assaults with assaults increasing 2.9% on an annual basis.

In 2019, over 652,676 women were raped.

This figure excludes non-rape sexual assaults but includes date rape statistics; if included, data from non-rape sexual assaults would take the figure closer to the one million mark. What’s worse, it has been rising for the last decade at an annual rate of 2.9%, and this trend shows no sign of decreasing.

In Florida alone, a staggering total of 1,477,000 men have been victim to sexual assault.
In Florida, 20.4% of men, or 1,477,000 men, have been victimized by sexual violence over the last decade.

Women sexual assault statistics reveal some extremely disturbing facts. An estimated 70 women commit suicide daily in the US, directly as a result of sexual violence. Worryingly, this figure has grown by 2.87% over the last year.

Almost 95% of child victims knew their sexual attacker.
Rape stats by RAINN show that the vast majority percentage (93.98%) of child victims in the US in 2019 were familiar with their attacker. In almost all of these cases, as reflected by teenage sexual assault statistics, the child had spent a significant amount of time (10 plus hours, in one full duration or segmented) with their attacker prior to the sexual assault taking place.

For every 1000 rapes in the US, 995 perpetrators will go unpunished.
Studies covering unreported sexual assault statistics show that the overwhelming majority of perpetrators will escape punishment of any kind.

US rape stats show that too many victims are afraid to follow through with the legalities of their claim, leading to perpetrators escaping punishment of any form.

legaljobs.io...#:~:text=Statistics%20show%20that%201%20in,as%20a%20child%20or%20adult.

Note the last quote, most perpetrators will go unpunished because less than 20% of rapes are reported and victims that come forward are exposed to victim shaming and name calling or worse. The shaming of rape victims is alive and well as is the ever-growing rape culture. Why isn't anyone in that Florida ivory tower looking for solutions to fix it?

If the child is always assumed to be telling the truth, some 12-year-olds will get mad at a parent. Accuse The parent of rape, and a year later, the parent is killed by the state.

Then maybe you should do some self reflection and figure out why it is that you are advocating to do away with the death penalty for rapists, rather than trying to come up with a solution for getting people to not victim shame.

Not sure where people get that mentality from to begin with. If you are the victim of a crime, especially one as heinous as rape, why are you automatically turned into the villain when you come forward with the allegations and evidence to convict

That's not the case when dealing with rape.
Nobody can assume anything and the burden of proof is always on those who make the allegations.
Rape or murder have to proven in a court of law.

I am putting forth the underlying societal problems that cause sexual assault and asking why nothing is being done about that?

If Florida wants to execute a victim's grandfather or father or uncle or teacher or church official then who are we to stop them?

The victim shaming is what is preventing victims from coming forward and that would be over 80% of victims that DO NOT come forward. So your main concern it seems is to catch all these rapists, but that will never happen because the root causes of rape culture and victim shaming is still not being dealt with.

and sometimes that child is the tip of the iceberg masking the abuse of 10s of thousands a year..
