Well, he is a former President that is running for office as the Republican candidate?

He has no "influence" on Republicans?!!!!!

His go to has been to threaten to not endorse politicians that don't do what he says and telling them that he'll primary them by supporting another candidate.

OK. He is totally irrelevant to US politics and no one pays any attention to him anymore.

And salmon live in trees and eat pencils?

www.businessinsider.com...

"Trump, who led the longest government shutdown in US history, calls on Republicans to let it happen again in 9 days so they can 'defund these political prosecutions against me'"

But he is pushing for it? No?

Once again Trump proves he's out for himself and not for the good of the country.

Checks will still get sent out don’t worry.

Could you imagine the chaos if the millions of illegals in the US didn’t get their monthly checks? They’re would be violence in the streets

Complacency kills.

If he had as much influence on Republicans (as a whole) as you fantasize he has, a lot of the political persecution he's going through wouldn't be happening, because the republicans would actually do something about it instead of the lame ass attempts they've made to make it look like they're trying to do something about it.

A good portion of republicans in the house and senate are RINO's. Mitch McConnell and Kevin McCarthy among them.

Ahh, as always, the deeply hidden unknown unseen Trump threats and payoffs. The cause of all things you don’t like. Explained in chapter 3 of the ‘Trump is Literally Hitler’ book.

So, as per the OP, he isn't trying to influence anything?

He has no influence at all?

Amazing.

With Trump out of office and this kind of influence (which has yet to be defined) why should he even run for office then....

Absolutely he is, but his influence is mostly with the freedom caucus and maybe a handful of others. They will likely follow his lead, but you have to remember, that is only 20+ house reps.

You say he has no influence anymore, so why indeed?

The influence is set out in the OP.

And by the fact that he is the leading Republican candidate.

But, he has no influence?

Amazing.

Carry on.

No..I did not say that.

Why don't you argue with what I said, or rather simply asking questions.

You're really bad at this.

Lol, all the SS and welfare will still flow. Deepstate dems and RINOs will concentrate all of the shutdowns into things the public loves like parks and monuments, certainly nothing wasteful or fraudulent.

Hard-right Republicans push closer to a disruptive federal shutdown

Just like the hard left pushed for shutdown the last time.
This is just normal for the US.

Woops, found yourself in a pickle again, didntya.

However don't let me stop you rabid TDSers from showing how Trump not only has influence while out of office but has free room and board in heads everywhere.

Good.

At least some republicans have balls.

President Trump orchestrated the longest government shutdown. That was in 2018 and it lasted 34 days.

It only ended because all those non-essential people, which accounts for for 80% of the government, started whining due to nobody missing them.

So Congress opened the government back up and gave them all their back pay.

Let's see if we can double that to 70 days this time!

"How does he have any influence exactly?"

You asked that question. I and others have answered that for you.
