Discussing only the herbivores for a moment...the general argument I'm seeing in this thread from pro meat consumers is that meat is more nutritional than plants. Is someone going to go tell the grazing deer or cow that they are making themselves sickly and weak because all they're consuming is water and fiber?

You know a cow doesn't digest grass for fuel. It is feeding grass to a massive bacteria garden in its bellies and lives off the bacteria.

We all have bacteria gardens in our guts.

Again, my question is, if a 100% plant based diet holds no nutritional value then how do some grazing animals not only survive but thrive? Take the bison for example, how many centuries has this creature existed on plant sustenance alone?

You basically pointed me to nothing. At least, nothing specific to back up your statement about an animal's nutritional compounds being affected by a plethora of aspects outside of what they eat. I'm simply asking you for some specific examples.

Who said that a 100% plant based diet holds no nutritional value?
Herbivores have different nutritional needs than carnivores.

I'm not going to spoonfeed the data to you. Either you read and find the data yourself, or you stay ignorant. Your choice.

I have Chrons disease, the only meat I can eat, and in moderation, without regret is poultry.

Actually, Crohns, IBS/IBD, UC, basically ALL of the 'diseases' of the bowel, respond remarkably quickly to a 100% red meat diet.

Yes, going 100% carnivore, mostly fatty red meat, would completely eliminate all of your Crohns symptoms.

And no, I'm not kidding, or spouting hyperbole.

I have better luck with fruits and vegetables, but they cost twice as much as meat.

Trust me. I would love meat if it loved me.

I doesn't.

You are mistaken. Fatty red meat is what humans have evolved to eat over the last few million years...

It's kind of odd how you continue making claims that you refuse to expand upon but again, thank you for your time.

Most animals that are consumed by humans are herbivores. If their flesh is so healthy, jam-packed with vitamins and minerals, where do they get their nutrients from?

From the grass that they have evolved to eat over millions of years.

Herbivores are able to extract the nutrients that are bound up within the plant fibers.

Human beings simply do not have this ability. We have evolved to eat meat - specifically the fatty red meat of large ruminant animals.

What is odd about citing known science and facts? May be odd to you, not odd to anyone else.
I'm not making any claims. The data and science is there for anyone to see. Once again, I'm not going to spoonfeed it to someone who refuses to accept it. Do whatever you like. I simply don't care. Facts are facts.

Is the meat of a bison less nutritionally dense and fatty than the meat of a carnivorous animal...say, a lion?

Well either way death is imminent. I have Chrons disease, the only meat I can eat, and in moderation, without regret is poultry.

How about lean beef or lamb/mutton? Not an option for you?
Tofu or beans as a protein substitute?

Chrons is a bit of a b*stard condition to have. I can't even begin to relate.

I can eat lamb in small amounts occasionally. I can eat fish, but fish is not my favorite food. I do not tolerate beef or pork well at all. I do not like tofu.

I tolerate quinoa, rice, and beans fairly well.

I will admit that sometimes I bite the bullet and eat things that I know will leave me feeling miserable for hours to days.

I have spent a many years with this condition, so I pick my battles.

I wish you all the best. Prosperity and well being to you and yours.

Like I said in another post, I pick my battles.

I know what red meat does to my stomach and I am the one that has to deal with the pain and agony after eating red meat.

So I don't eat it.

I have spent enough time in hospitals going through an exacerbation to know what I can and cannot eat. So while some YouTube magic cure may work for some, I am not eager to spend anymore time in a hospital than I have to.

Thanks for the info though.

Here in Sweden we've been paying the equivalent of $3.50 for a dozen since 10 years ago, lol.

Thanks for that insight. That's the kind of information that is good to know. But some posters can't just answer a simple question. I wonder just why they're here if not to interact in the conversation.

Thank you. When I was younger, it was more difficult. Now that I am an old broad, my routine and diet changes too little for it to be much of a problem. I consider myself blessed because I have managed extremely well.

Thanks for the the kind words.
