It is the same here in Florida (central FL, Orlando area)
For years the rains in the summer have come at around 2pm and they would be gone in about 20 minutes, IF the scattered storms in the afternoon missed
you then you would get them after sunset, with awesome lightening. This was on a nearly daily basis
Last year was really dry not so frequent and definitely not the daily occurrence, my water bill was much higher trying to keep my grass green.
This year the winds are crazy, normally we would get winds ahead of a strong front or isolated storm but once the rain started the winds died, I never
used to have shut my windows except for the hurricanes. This year the storms are bringing heavy winds that are sustained, they start way ahead of the
storm fronts lasting through and after the storms.
As well as the timing and duration of the storms is way off, they are coming much earlier in the day and lasting longer, but unless its a well
organized front they have not come at night.
Its kinda funny, the weather kept saying a few weeks back, that we were getting lots of sand from Africa and it would diminish the rain chances. Those
were the nights that we have had the most rain and the best lightening shows this year.
Thankfully we haven't had too many wildfires this year, yet (hope i didnt jinx it)
