I was farming in Grant's Pass at that time. It was indeed a hot summer, had to check the weather everyday to care for my crops accordingly.
What alot of people don't realize is that Oregon has a fire system in play that's so strict, you can't even operate lawnmowers on certain hot days
because of the risk of starting a fire. It's very susceptible to igniting.
There's a town in Southern Oregon not a stones throw away from where the fire began called Medford, sometimes affectionately known as Methford, due to
it's homeless and drug problems.
I remember the claims from around the entire nation that the fires were the acts of ANTIFA, when in reality it was a meth head doing hood rat $#!+
near some train tracks.
I would buy my favorite strain of cannabis seeds from a store in Talent, the town had looked like a bomb had gone off. I remember seeing a Jack in the
Box still open but with a melted sign above it'sentrance. It was devastating, but not political.
The arsons were indeed publicized, investigations which included soil testing for acelerants, have come to an end and the arsonist was sentenced to 11
years.
Phoenix Fire
What indeed did happen was people using a tragedy to support a narrative.
Some people blamed climate change.
Others blamed leftists.
The cosmic humor of it all is that it's an endless cycle of capitalization and scapegoats.
It's going to happen again and again until we build better infrastructure and become more aware of our environments.
