Background:
The "Titan" was a custom built deep-sea submersible vehicle that could host 5 passengers. It was designed and built by OceanGate. A company founded in 2009. See this link for a general company timeline and some more info.
Its main purpose was to explore the depths of the ocean, specifically the site of the historic Titanic shipwreck. In 1912 the Titanic tragically sank in the North Atlantic Ocean after colliding with an iceberg.

On Sunday, June 18, 2023 the submersible craft lost contact with its surface operator. A search ensued shortly afterwards.

CBC News Article

US navy detected likely implosion of Titan submersible hours after it began its mission

In view of the recent events around the submersible called Titan and its apparent ultimate demise, what are people's thoughts?
Curious to hear/see some theories about this. Is this simply a tragedy as perceived, or is there something more sinister afoot?
Is exploration of past events being "controlled" and if so, to what purpose?

I would like to convey my condolences to all family and friends related to this event.
I implore all people engaging in this topic to be mindful of the parties involved in the incident.
The risks were known and accepted. No point on dwelling on these things.

Obviously everything bad that happens is *insert who you don’t like here*

That’s how the world works. We don’t need any evidence to present the claim because we have feels.

I’ll tell you what it wasn’t though, it wasn’t the fact this was a glorified bathtub toy. Because that wouldn’t implicate *insert again*

I have an engineering background and I can confirm that the design/material of the sub was questionable at the very least. I guess at 250k a pop the CEO didn't care much for details. Didn't help a great deal I guess.

I think it’s the cabal trying to get us to be scared of water. It will reduce population because of dehydration.

it was a arrogant bastard that thought he was smarter than everyone else who's ever designed, built, and operated submersibles looking to make a buck, and 4 innocent people paid with their lives cuase they believed him that's all there is to it. plain and simple.

Genuine accident..preventable though, this company cheaped out wherever possible, threw safety and caution to the wind, because he thought he was the smartest guy in the room..end of story.

It's a classic example of the Dunning-Kruger effect. The co-founder of OceanGate, Stockton Rush, thought he was smart enough to design a beyond-the-state-of-the-art submersible on the cheap. When his advisors--who had more experience than he did--tried to point out the problems with his approach, he insisted he was right, they were wrong, and he fired them.

As Dirty Harry once said, "A man's got to know his limitations".

Snarky, yet sub-par humor. I expected better from you.

I think it was a genuine accident that was used as a distraction. They knew since Sunday that the submersible imploded but the media milked the story. They gave people hope when there was none.
Anything to keep the daily conversation from the cost of living or the sitting president taking bribes from foreign countries via his son.

Logic would dictate that it was such. Still leaves an aura of uncertainty though.

One would think that international safety regulations and requirements are included/enforced in a situation or endeavor like this. I guess money can buy exception.

"Milking the story" is what they do, because "moniez". You are most likely correct. Given the timeline, there are very few possibilities in terms of what could have happened. Media ignored common sense as usual and speculated to the max.
Sensation for the sake of a penny.

Then what would be the motive of the cabal?

I didn’t have much to work with on this one.

You didn’t offer a viable theory or evidence to suggest that it could even be a possibility.

All I have is sub par humor for this one bud.

Well damn... I did not know that. going to do some reading now. Thanks for the heads-up

I'll bet it was the carbon fiber failing. A few bumps here a scrape there. Over time the water forces past the outer damaged fibers until the inner parts cannot take the pressure. It's a dealy learning curve.
Remember the de Havilland Comet airplane? The square windows developed cracks at the corners and blew out after many flights. You would think designers would have known about corners and cracks by 1949. A deadly learning curve.

Right, so they kill five people In a vessel that shouldn’t have made consecutive successful dives? For what?

Are people scared to get in subs now? Taking our freedoms?

So they could waste money on a veiled “rescue” that was impossible anyways?

Or just, it was bad, so cabal?

Agreed.

Navy subs are made out of steel and still don't try to go that deep.

It's sounding like there were a number of engineering and design flaws.
