yup. that's EXACTLY how it happens. What do you think we should do about it? (not this thread but the topic in general?). Trash can any thread not based in facts and only based on subjective feelings.
As of now what we know is:

A man can think he is a woman. A man can not think like a woman, and vice versa.

Men and women develop differently from our time in the womb until we are adults.
There are very rare abnormalities where this may be inhibited, to a point.
Even the way men and women see the world is different, as our eyes develop differently.
Men and women have about a 3% difference in their DNA.
The difference between Man and Chimp is about 4%.
We are different.

I am totally on board with mods taking a harder line with respect to personal attacks and name calling - as long as they don't start conflating simple statements of facts with 'personal attacks' because it obliterates someone else's argument and hurts their feelz.

But outright banning topics just because people are saying something you disagree with with respect to such topics is not the kind of site I want to participate in.

If you are incapable of ignoring topics that trigger you, then avoid them. If you are unable to self-censor, then that is your problem and no one else's.

So I am just shooting this idea here to see if posters would want a stricter posting pattern on certain subjects.

If you want to challenge what is established already then you need to bring strong evidence to do so. The fact-free assertions and claims don't constitute evidence.

I say we ban all the forums except for the art forum. Instead of getting bogged down in endless debates and arguments, we could let our emotions flow freely and vividly through the strokes of our crayons, pens, and brushes.

Just think... no more endless scrolling through political diatribes or negative comment threads. Instead, we could immerse ourselves in a world of colors, shapes, and textures, letting our innermost thoughts spill out onto the page in the form of breathtaking art.

Totally agree Annee. 100 percent on that one. Its funny though still that people claim psychology isnt a real science and that DNA/genes trumps it,when its best taken together instead for a overall picture. People also need to stop posting back handed comments and if they have something to say say it instead.

This could be an unpopular opinion or not, frankly, I don't give a flip.

I get where yuppa is coming from. I have nothing but respect for them as they have come out, as a member of the trans community, condemning radical trans-activism, especially where children are concerned. I am an old, white, straight, conservative, Christian male that loves all of God' children regardless of whether I agree with them or not. I'm also an advocate for strong, passionate and reasoned debate based on facts, statistics and data.

The issue, from my perspective, isn't that ANY topic should be banned or refrained from discussion but the fact that most end up devolving into the same final arguments that run on ad nauseum. Eventually one needs to just be able to say "We must agree to disagree". There's nothing wrong with that and it's not admitting defeat or claiming victory, open discussion shouldn't be about that, it should be about an exchange of ideas and being open to those ideas.

There are things that are based in objective reality, with demonstrable facts to back them up. I can see no reason not to dispute claims that go against that. As far as subjective opinion, that's where we need to be more open minded and at least LISTEN to what someone else has to say on the matter, perhaps, acknowledge another's perspective.

TLDR:
No topic should off limits to post or discuss.
I'm disappointed that yuppa would suggest effectively banning any topic but I understand their feelings as to why.
We, as a community, should expect better of ourselves to not let, especially contentious subjects, devolve into ad hominin attacks.

Moon. thanks. I dont want the Topic actually banned per se,just the execution of these threads needs to be Better for such topics. Multiple threads should be merged. it will streamline the database as well as allow moderation to get a tighter grip.

Not everyone, and that is the problem. There are a few at least that absolutely deny that there is an agenda, much less that kids are being attacked/brainwashed by it.

BTW= we were talking about getting rid of the political forums all together. It's all just a puppet show anyway. But, I don't know if we want to go that far but it will definitely help focus the info on the board to things that can actually HELP people.

Well, I would be very much against that. There are few enough places where I can go to discuss such things with other sane/rational people. I'm not saying I'd stop coming here, but ... well, I'd probably come here a lot less.

Incidentally, I'd be fine paying $5/mo for access to a paywalled section where these kinds of hot-trigger topics are discussed, and put the mudpit there too, but at least make it findable. Right now, I don't even know where to go to peruse it.

Would it be too OT to ask - where is the mudpit?

I think there are thousands of issues that are more important to discuss.

I don’t think ATS should ban topics.

I think adults can do whatever they want if it’s legal.

I think it is depraved to manipulate children regarding a very small, fringe, life changing process. I’d characterize it as child sex abuse in some instances.

I think it’s indisputably a crime to do so without their parents’ knowledge.

I think it is a fad like lobotomies and people will look back and think “what the hell were people thinking?”

At a lower level, I think it’s annoying.

At a higher level, I think it’s not really about transgenderism: it’s about transhumanism and is quite nihilistic.
