Putin did tell porkies about mere military exercises on the border of Ukraine being nothing to worry about and then turned around and shamelessly invaded the place.

Can't see why Ukraine should honor anything Putin or Russia has to say or suggest whilst their federation forces remain in the wrong postcode.

No

So what was the reason then pray-tell since you obviously know so much?

Twisting the angles is pretty lame tbh.

Kind of like Putin's invasion of Ukraine, which was pretty lame, and went down like a lead balloon, for Russia that is.

Hence the time out they are forced to call because their troops are getting decimated.

Is this the same orthodoxy the Ukranian government just banned?

One and the same.

Zelensky wants ALL the Orthodox Churches thrown out of Ukraine.

A little Christmas present to his own people.

Same with not providing them safe passage if they want to leave.

From your first source:

The U.S. has essentially run out of the 155 mm howitzers to give to Ukraine;

Ummm...precisely...run out of...

So...thank you for confirming my point...have a noice day...

You're talking about this like Putin just woke up one morning and thought "derp, I'm gonna invade Ukraine"...

Ffs, pay attention to the history.

All of the information is out there.

Seriously mate, you need to stop believing these lies.

You're victim to a PsyOp.

Im just saying what happened.

What part of history do you have in mind?

How about "The Holodomor" for instance?

As to paying attention, you may wish to take a leaf out your own book there.

Right back at you Wide-Eyes.

Putin and his forces failed to achieve their objectives in Ukraine within the first 72 hours.

When they refused to roll over and capitulate.

Russia needs to go back home.

Simple as that really.

Still waiting for you to tell us all why Russia wants a cease-fire if not for Orthodox Christmas by the way?

That's nice but Kyiv predates the founding of Moscow by about 665 years.

And the reason for Holodomor was all about the whims of Joseph Stalin as opposed to the Bolsheviks, so there is that.

I wasn't aware that it was my responsibility to explain why Putin wants a ceasefire...

Maybe he's just baiting or maybe he's genuine.

What I do expect is that the Ukrainians will open fire during said ceasefire.

I will be happy if I'm wrong.

Well if you are going to say "No" to the reasons others suggest, you should be able to say why, should you not? LoL

After all, that's how discussion and debate take place in good spirit.

Sounds like you dont have a clue other than Orthodox Christmas.

It is what Russian forces deserve given they are in the wrong place.

Well that's the thing, hopefully, the peace holds and somehow continues to hold.

But all that will really happen is Russia will reposition, attempt to resupply, and the conflict will continue 36 hours later.

To be honest, i hope i am also wrong, and the cease-fire is in good faith, but with Putin's track record, im not holding my breath.

Ukraine have already told Putin to piss off.

Ukraine's foreign minister has said the announcement "cannot and should not be taken seriously".

I voted to GTFO of the EU so I have no compassion in that respect.

Be that as it may, I’m sure you can appreciate you’re in a different position than Ukraine. And they would have likely benefited from the trade agreements and such.

Ukrainians owe Russia a beer as far as I'm concerned.

I’m sure that would fix the whole crisis

Well, we canny really hold them to account for telling Putin where to stick it.

I mean if Russian forces went back home I'm sure Ukraine's tune would change.

My guess is the ceasefire will be bait. If Ukraine fires on Russians in Ukraine during this, Putin will use it as justification for a mass mobilization which he could then prepare for spring.

That's just more lambs to the slaughter and meat for the grinder.

Because realistically even if they do mobilize, Russia cannot hope to possibly train new troops, officers, and NCO, before spring materializes nor hope to equip them with the arms and munitions they will require to make any sort of headway in Ukraine.

While I agree, the inverse is true too.

As of yesterday there are reports Belarus is calling it’s men to the recruiting offices for a possible draft.

Spring will likely be the beginning or an end.
