Maybe, maybe not.

Too many have died on both sides. You can thank Putin for that.

The blood is on his hands.

Finnish authorities closed Finland’s border checkpoints with Russia again on December 15 amid continued Russian hybrid warfare efforts to orchestrate an artificial migrant crisis.

Germany announced new military and humanitarian aid packages to Ukraine on December 14. The German military aid package includes a Patriot air defense system and missiles, 40mm and 155mm ammunition, mine clearing systems, and drone detection systems.

Russian forces continued offensive operations near Kupyansk, northeast and near Bakhmut, near Avdiivka, west and southwest of Donetsk City, in the Donetsk-Zaporizhia Oblast border area, and in western Zaporizhia Oblast and made confirmed advances in several areas.

War can do terrible things to the human psyche. It drives men mad. On top of that, the martial law add fuel to the fire.

Barring a major change in the correlation of forces, it seems both sides are trying to wait the other out.

In terms of resources, Russia has a great advantage. Whether the outcome of the war will be driven by comparisons of available resources ... to be determined.

I grasp you realize that, but your comment comes at a good time to make a general observation as to what is now happening.

A smaller force against a trench system of defenses that we havent seen anything like it since WW1, and they still made some breakthroughs and put troops onto crimea.

It wasnt an end of the war success but they certainly did well considering the scope of the defenses they were attacking they just ran out of fresh bodies before they made a big enough opening.

It's hard to tell where you're coming from on this but before Ukraine received the Leopards in 2023, look at what they accomplished in 2022, liberating a huge swath of Kharkiv without so many Leopards, see the blue area they liberated?

www.aljazeera.com...

After that map dated october 13, 2022, Ukraine liberated even more of Kherson.

What changed in 2023? In addition to Ukraine receiving Leopards, Russia built up formidable defense lines designed to thwart leopards and other kit. Leopards can't survive anti-tank mines, anti-tank ditches, and "dragon's teeth" concrete barriers, lined up in multiple layers, all designed to stop tanks. You have to bring in engineering teams to clear all those obstacles and they will be attacked to prevent them from doing that.

Russian defenses have made things very, very difficult for Ukraine

Russian fortifications in Ukraine are some of the most extensive in Europe since World War II, stretching across the front lines, from Kherson in the south all the way to the north. The Russian military spent months in advance of the counteroffensive digging in, building layers and layers of complex anti-tank defenses.

The minefields, most of all, have stymied Ukraine. The Ukrainian front line is carpeted with mines, miles deep. They are trip-wired or booby-trapped. Even if Ukraine’s Western armored vehicles can withstand the blasts, the layers of anti-tank mines hinder forward movement, leaving them vulnerable. “As soon as Ukrainian units become stuck in an area, they are immediately targeted by artillery, drones, and attack helicopters,” Borsari said. Russia has built trenches that are filled with explosives, so when Ukraine approaches, prepared to clear a Russian position, Russian forces can detonate them remotely.
I think NATO forces could conduct combined arms warfare better than Ukraine did in 2023, but I think even NATO forces would find those defense lines very challenging.

“WELP iS RuSsIA out oF missilez yEt!?!?!?” sounds like some straw man you made up, Russia was never going to run out of missiles because they are still producing some. But they did draw down their inventory of some kinds of missiles, and they haven't been firing as many of those lately, that's a fact. And it also doesn't seem that relevant because Ukraine begged for and got more and better air defenses, and they seem to be working because a higher percentage of the Russian missiles are being shot down by Ukraine lately, have you noticed? Look at the December 17 update, Russia launched 2 missiles and a bunch of drones, and Ukraine shot down all the drones and one missile.

Though I think Russia may be saving up a lot of missiles for a huge winter barrage to try to overwhelm Ukraine's air defenses and target their electric infrastructure again. Ukraine has used that 'overwhelm enemy air defenses" tactic against Russia with some success, so we will see how Russia reciprocates.
