Far right Neo-Nazis:

Wonder if the Ukraine haters will be rushing on here with their outrage about these Nazis?

Wrong answer, Comrade. Return to Go and drink a bottle of vodka.

I haven't got any vodka, will a few Havana Rum Cuba Libre's be an acceptable alternative?

Using children as shields, as per your link.

Would not surprise me. The Russian's have committed so many atrocities, that this type of thing comes naturally to them.

They probably nicked the car too.

27 August Update

Tavriisk Group of Forces Spokesperson Oleksandr Shtupun reported that Ukrainian forces are advancing in the directions of Novoprokopivka (13km south of Orikhiv), Mala Tokmachka (9km southeast of Orikhiv), and Ocheretuvate (25km southeast of Orikhiv) in western Zaporizhia Oblast.

Russian forces conducted missile strikes against targets in Ukraine on the night of August 26 to 27 and reportedly targeted a Ukrainian airfield in Kyiv Oblast. Ukrainian military officials reported that Ukrainian forces intercepted four Russian Kh-101, Kh-55, and Kh-555 cruise missiles out of eight unspecified Russian projectiles launched at Ukraine.

Russian forces conducted offensive operations along the Kupyansk-Svatove-Kreminna line, near Bakhmut, along the Avdiivka-Donetsk City line, in western Donetsk Oblast, and in western Zaporizhia Oblast but did not make confirmed advances.

Shame that poor child stuck behind enemy lines alone. Obviously the Russians decided they didn't need there shield anymore meaning they figured they were far enough into russian territory. So they left her where even Ukrainians can't get ahold of her. I read the comments and one thing no one thought of was why they left the little girl if it was at the front you bring your shield.

Hopefully someone will come across her on the road.

"Tavriisk Group of Forces Spokesperson Oleksandr Shtupun reported that Ukrainian forces are advancing in the directions of Novoprokopivka (13km south of Orikhiv)"

Ukraine tried to advance directly from Robotyne to Novoprokopivka but the direct route south was too difficult. Reporting from Ukraine youtube channel says Russia delivered 60 trucks worth of troops to the Novoprokopivka (some elite paratroopers) to replace the Russian troops lost due to Ukraine's shelling of Novoprokopivka.

So Ukraine looked for a better route to advance to Novoprokopivka. They pretended to continue attacking south from Robotyne, while assembling a lot of troops east of there which the Russians didn't realize until it was too late. Also I suppose the Russians thought that eastern route wasn't a route Ukraine could take because it was so heavily mined, but this video explains the clever way Ukrainians dealt with the mines to advance through the minefield, using thermal imaging along with mine clearing material to clear a path through the mines once they knew where the mines were located. So they made a big advance from East of Robotyne, about 4km south and started attacking Novoprokopivka from the east. This video shows and explains how they were able to go through the minefield:

27 Aug: Genius. Ukrainians Use Thermal Tech to BREAK THROUGH MINEFIELDS | War in Ukraine Explained

I was wondering how Ukraine would get past all those mines. That looks like a good strategy to do it, and apparently it works, they seem to have gone right through the minefield and now the fighting is in Novoprokopivka.

The push for the South continues as Ukrainian troops break through Russian defences to liberate Robotyne.

When I see footage like that with bullets flying everywhere, I'm reminded that medics on both sides have said the vast majority of soldiers they treat are injured by artillery, and rarely do they see injuries from bullets. If that is at all typical of gunfire, I can see why. It doesn't look to me like they can tell what they are shooting at exactly, but maybe they are hoping the enemy will hear the gunfire approaching, and run away, which apparently, sometimes that works.

But yes Ukraine liberated Robotnye and continue to make progress steadily, in spite of lots of Russian reinforcements. I guess those cluster artillery shells can affect the Russian reinforcements significantly, and I think Ukraine has plenty of those cluster munitions now. There isn't a shortage of those like the other artillery shells.

Weight of fire is more significant in tactical engagements than accuracy of fire with rifled weapons.

Germans were very good with that in the Second World War. The former western Allied nations, including USA, didn't adopt that approach until after the war.

Of course, there are limitations on everything. Today, every man can carry a sort of machine gun (assault rifle), but a unit can't carry nearly enough ammunition for the individual assault rifles to generate sustained heavy weights of fire. So the squads still carry true machine guns with each guy in the squad carrying some of the ammunition for that weapon to enable it to fire longer.

Why am I not surprised that the Ukraine haters who bang on about Ukrainian Nazis have nothing to say about Russian Nazis like the Rusich Group?

Quite some double standards, there.

It was a good enough reason for him to risk flying in Russian airspace, would you agree? Knowing how that could be dangerous I wondered what that could have been. After all that went down, why would he even be within 500 miles of the Russian border?

Just because Prigozhin did something doesn't mean I assume he had a good reason to do it. He marched toward Moscow. Did he have a good reason to do that? Maybe so. Then he stopped when Lukashenko negotiated with him. Did he have a good reason to stop? Well, from my perspective, if he had a good reason to March on Moscow in the first place, then I don't see how he had a good reason to stop just because Lukashenko called him. But stop he did. So maybe he sometimes did things without having good reasons?

One of the reasons Prigozhin and his troops stopped advancing towards Moscow in the attempted coup...was that Putin's henchmen kidnapped and arrested Prigozhin's entire family.

Cluster munitions are not as effective against troops that are staged in trenches.

Thanks for explaining. That combat video makes more sense in that context. I guess accuracy isn't as important as I thought it was. But my "combat experience" is only paintball or combat video games where I only get credit for actually shooting someone, not for firing bullets or paintballs.

Look at the map. I circled the area in red where there's a lot of fighting from Robotnye to Novoprokopivka.

See the two black lines in the upper left in the red circle, just north of Novoprokopivka? Those are trenches/ defense lines, and Ukraine did have difficulty clearing those, which is why I wrote that whole post about how they avoided those trenches by going to the east of that. I don't see any other trenches inside that red circle shown on that map, though there were a lot of mines in the eastern part of that circle, but Ukraine made it through those mine fields.

Like Freeborn, I too would appreciate a link or two where you got that story, though it does sound exactly like something like Putin would have his henchmen do.

Ukranians are cutting open cluster munition shells and using the submunitions to be dropped from Drones into trenches for greater accuracy..

That is called suppression fire means they were caught with their pants down so to speak. There patrol ran into some entrenched soldiers and didn't realize until the trap was sprung. Thus the injured man is being carried to the rear in video. The one was extremely lucky as rounds ripped through his kit bag. Supression fire only has 1 purpose make them keep their heads down while you figure out where they are. Once you do you can assault from the sides or call in artillery or air support in this case meaning drones. This is precisely why its more dangerous to take land than defend it as a general rule you need 3 attackers for every 1 defender.

This scenario only happens in forests open fields you call in artillery and watch the carnage from a safe distance.

They are innovative I have to say making up for a lack of air support using drones as I mentioned in a previous post. This is the reason they are beating the odds which I said requires 3 to 1 to dislodge defending troops. Ukrainians continue to amaze me as they modify weapons to do what they need them to. And they have the biggest balls ive ever seen such as a video i watched where a guy wearing shorts cut into cluster munitions with a circular saw nd everyone was just standing around watching.

28 August Update

Ukrainian officials formally acknowledged that Ukrainian forces had liberated Robotyne amid continued Ukrainian advances in western Zaporizhia Oblast and near Bakhmut. Ukrainian Deputy Defense Minister Hanna Malyar reported on August 28 that Ukrainian forces have liberated Robotyne, achieved unspecified successes southeast of Robotyne (10km south of Orikhiv) and south of Mala Tokmachka (7km southeast of Orikhiv), and are advancing in the directions of Novodanylivka (4km south of Orikhiv), Novopokropivka (15km south of Orikhiv), Mala Tokmachka, and Ocheretuvate (25km southwest of Orikhiv).

Russian forces conducted a missile strike on the rear areas of Ukraine on August 28. Ukrainian officials reported that Russian forces launched four Kalibr cruise missiles from the Black Sea and two Kh-59 cruise missiles from the airspace above occupied Kherson Oblast in the direction of Kryvyi Rih on the night of August 28 and that Ukrainian air defenses intercepted all but two Kalibr missiles.

Ukrainian strikes reportedly damaged Russian aircraft and equipment at an airfield in Kursk Oblast on August 27. RBK-Ukraine cited Ukrainian Security Service (SBU) sources that SBU military counterintelligence conducted a drone strike on an airfield near Kursk City on the night of August 27, damaging four Russian Su-30 fighter aircraft, one MiG-29 fighter aircraft, and radars for a S-300 missile system and two Pantsir missile systems.

Russian forces conducted offensive operations on the Kupyansk-Svatove-Kreminna line, near Bakhmut, along the Avdiivka-Donetsk City line, and in western Donetsk, and did not make any confirmed advances.

The Ukrainian Main Military Intelligence Directorate (GUR) reported on August 28 that partisans created an explosion at the barracks of a Chechen “Akhmat-1” Rosgvardia riot police (OMON) unit in Enerhodar in occupied Zaporizhia Oblast.
