If that was true everyone in Crimea wouldn't throw massive celebrations every year to mark their independence from Ukraine.

If this was true, Crimea would be empty of any significant population, the people would have all left Crimea and moved somewhere else in Ukraine. The Crimeans are happy many many sources on this, even western sources before they did a switcheroo on Ukraine reporting.

"waiting for an invasion " was not the wrong move lol its righteous move because you cant just preemptively attack someone if you want to keep the moral high ground, you can preemptively strike if its ok for you to look blood thirsty and just assault first. Its not preemptive to assault first if you receive non stop threats from the opposing country and obvious invasion build up is seen on the boarders and what not.

Looking at this as an outsider. This did not start on the 24th of Feb. A western instilled government was put in place after the brutal maiden protests. 8 years people have feared for their lives in the Donbas region. If you are ignorant to the facts then ok.

Your going to need a history lesson, or at least an atlas of the world from older times. Ukraine had never existed as any kind of state with borders or even in name until right aftet ww1. Errgo, your statement about hundreds of years of invading Ukraine is historically innaccurate and factualy incorrect. The present borders of Ukraine, prior to its creation after world war 1, had frequently been shifting between the Lithuanian, Polish, and Russian empires fir hundreds of years.

Its looking increasingly likely that that Poland will actually reclaim some of that land very soon.

Ukraine has a standing army of 196,000. Russia has a standing army of 1,000,000. On top of that, Russia is the largest country in the world with an area of 6.6 million square miles.

Please explain how Ukraine would be able to defeat a military more than five times larger than theirs and then hold all that territory.

Of Moscow funding and arming Russian Ultra-Nationalist Militia's throughout Luhansk and Donbas.
Of those Militia's intimidating and terrorising local Ukrainians whose families had lived there for generations - including non-Orthodox Christians and Jews - and attacking official Ukrainian installations.

The thing is you see, Ukraine knows oh too well what the alternative is.
It suffered under Russian rule for a long time - as did many other Eastern European nations - and doesn't want to again.
Hence them seeking closer relations with anyone other than Russia, same as almost every single other ex-Soviet nation or Warsaw Pact country.

The US has no respect for international law. The US visits Taiwan despite claiming Taiwan is Chinese land. What right does the US have to claim Ukraine is not Russian land? It would be self contradictory. By the US's logic, Taiwan is not Chinese land and by the same logic Russians can claim Ukraine is Russian land. It is the US which provides logic to Russians to justify taking Ukraine.

The US gives a crap about sovereign country. The US only cares about its own national interests. The US bombed Serbia to split out Kosovo despite Serbia is a UN member state. The US armed rebels with TOW missiles to attack Damascus despite Syria is a UN member state. The US invaded Iraq despite Iraq is a UN member state. He and the Russian FSB thought they would scare them off by shooting into the protesters. It backfired on him and he flew to Russia.
