Russians are defending their country more so than Ukrainians are defending their country.

In 1991 Ukraine had more than a third the population of Russia. Ukraine was the second most powerful country in USSR. After USSR dissolved in 1991, Ukraine immediately became the top threat to Russia. Ukrainians believe they are the heir of Kievan Rus, that they must reunite all Rus under a single Kiev hegemony. Therefore, Ukraine is a threat to Russia. Just as Israel attacked Arabs in a preemptive invasion in 1967, Russia attacked Ukraine in a preemptive invasion in 2022. So it makes sense to say it is Russians who are the victims and Ukrainians are the aggressors.

Therefore, Ukraine is a threat to Russia.

No , it isn't and the Budapest Memorandum affirms that.
Ukraine gave up its Nuclear arms as part of the deal because they weren't a threat to Russia.

So it makes sense to say it is Russians who are the victims and Ukrainians are the aggressors.

Nope , but it does make sense to say Russia is in breach of the treaty they signed ...again.

2. The Russian Federation, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and the United States of America reaffirm their obligation to refrain from the threat or use of force against the territorial integrity or political independence of Ukraine, and that none of their weapons will ever be used against Ukraine except in self-defence or otherwise in accordance with the Charter of the United Nations.

Nuclear weapons is irrelevant in modern warfare. You cannot use it. Ukraine was planning a massive army with American and British weapons and ammo supply to march on Moscow and Minsk to reunite all Rus under Kiev hegemony. This makes Ukraine the biggest threat to Russia and Belarus, the two other Rus countries.

Could you please explain exactly HOW Ukraine posed a direct threat to Russia?

Because Ukrainians believe in Kiev hegemony. Just as Arabs believe Jews have no place in Israel which they consider Palestine.

When YOU are the ones who cross someone else's border and start bombing and shooting them, YOU are NOT defending your Country. You are the aggressor.

Defense is when you are ATTACKED FIRST, and then you react to that attack. Just like Ukraine is doing. They are on the defense because Russia, being the aggressor, is on the attack.

The US crossed the Iraqi border in 2003. That is considered defending the US from chemical weapons attack. Nowhere does it say crossing the border is not defending your country.

The US crossed Vietnam border in the 1960s to defend the US from communists. Again, nowhere does it say crossing the border is not defending your country.

Any actual evidence of this?
Not even RT and the rest of the Putin acolytes have ever alleged this.

Because Ukrainians believe in Kiev hegemony.

I used to believe in Father Christmas but......
(Apologies if I've burst that particular bubble for you.)

As far as I can make out Ukrainians just want to go about their business in their own country free from Russian aggression and brutality.

Muscovites believe they are the heir of Kievan Rus, that they must reunite all Rus under a single Moscow hegemony. Therefore, Russia is a threat to Ukraine.

Incorrect. Moscow was founded by Mongol invaders in the 1200s. It is Kiev which is the original seat of power of Rus. It is Ukrainians who believe they should have hegemony of Rus.

Which part is incorrect? Just because Moscow was founded by Mongol invaders in the 1200s doesn't make what I wrote incorrect, does it? Although that's actually a lie, it was founded by Kiev. Hence the part about them thinking they are heirs.

Dude, Russians are not Kievan Rus to Ukrainians. They are really muscovites ( Moscow was a small market town then in the north) when Kievan Rus was ruling. Russia as a name is stolen as name comes from Rusy, Rusychi people who were inhabitants of Kiev and areas around it. When Muscowites was mix of different tribes.
So take a look in the map where is Kiev and where is Moscow. Let us know if you think Russians today are Kievan Rus.

I believe Ukrainians are proud of their Kievan Rus inheritage and propably because russians are not Rusy at begin with. So why would they want russians under Rus when these are not Rus ?
