I don't think American and British men can fight wars anymore.

It’s ok, the French only effective fight while backing up and the Russian army apparently still use muskets.
Good thing both the USA and UK are surrounded by water.

I'd say the Brits and the Yanks are actually pretty damned good at the whole war thing...

Not sure its something to boast about but there's been few better......certainly not at the moment.

Personally I'd never dismiss US resolve....once stirred.

While with the 3rd BCT during surge of 2007, our one deployment turned into two tours back to back.

Every ones got extended, the whole stop loss was a thing back then. I didn't mind personally, at first.

The millennials in the military have become very adept to war … It is smart war tech that these kids use to fight .

Honestly it's long past due for the military to get over physical appearances.

But it is the reality of it. Both countries militaries are very, very good at breaking things, and people.

It's when they're used as cops that you run into issues.

...and, yes. When the chips are down, I'd much rather have the Brits on my side, than not...much safer that way.

Do the mathematics and the stat's on this one. The current best boxer on Planet earth comes from this island whilst the strongest man on earth two years ago also came from this island, indeed they were born a mere 40 miles apart.

I love Russian culture and everything Russia and the FSU gave this Planet and I still collect your marvelous watches.

Yet please don't knock us as a people and our capability to fight. We didn't gain and control the largest Empire in the records of mankind, plus leave a colonial legacy in east Asia, southern Africa and the north of America by being a nation of hippies

Nobody is ever ready, willing or prepared for war.

I think this generation of men are as ready as they were in the past.

However, the boundaries of what "nationhood", "community", "values" or "goal" means has not been very well sold in the West recently - thus far.

But of course, that can change in a wink.

Until any other nation of this planet can hit a target the size of a dime on the Moon from Earth with a nuclear weapon, you let me know.

You correct about your trivia all the same, the reason being you military is theoretically build around the concept and equipped to fight both the old Warsaw Pact nations and the People's Republic of China simultaneously.

The expression is not something mysterious. It is common enough in conversation that most people have heard of it colloquially. I'm not coming "at" you that is just the truth. The thread was about whether or not people of today in certain places could fight a war (regardless of my or anyone's standpoint on that) and I offered that there are too many people engaging in fantasy that actually could get dangerous. And some got upset and thought it was bar brawl time.

It would have been WISE, not just scholarly and smart sounding but WISE to have let it be as flight of fancy seems to be the order of things. But writers and scholars are smart but ego isnt WISE. But yes good going on your gentler version of a somewhat unneeded rebuke. And bs. Now I will gladly talk to you about any other thing but use your head.

ETA, they can delete this whole thread and I'd be fine with it. Theres probably a lot of things all over the internet that could be deleted however I have nothing to say as far as freedom of speech is considered. But you could have come to some kind of agreement, maybe be a little bit nicer, without dismissing my entire comment as rubbish or whatever the heck the word drivel is.
