There is actually a ceasefire there right now, so what are you talking about. That is not a US war. Its like 9 countries teaming up against a terrorist army. You seem to keep posting about it here, so why don't you start an OP and others can talk on it.

* - Putin has apparently delegated the day to day operations of running Russia to the prime minister because Putin has taken direct control of the war in Ukraine (same method Hitler used).

Russia will not win the war unless the will of the Ukrainian people are destroyed. Wars are won by breaking the will to fight back, I don't see this happening as of yet and I am not at the belief that we are closer to that happening in their country! Threaten to wipe from existence Ukraine....if anything that will entice and invigorate to fight harder!

War is a battle of battles, this has a long way to go!

Broadly, wars are won by destroying the enemy's capabilities to wage war. Germany (WW2) and the Confederacy (U.S. Civil War) displayed the will to continue fighting lost conflicts. Neither Putin nor Ukraine is seeking a peace settlement, nor is either side posed to achieve an outright military victory.

I wonder if the Ukrainians will play 'tag' with Gerasimov in time for 9 May.

Tying of the current war to the GPW is sloppy and ugly propaganda in any case. Plenty of Ukrainians served in the Red Army and became casualties in the GPW. Goes to show much TPTB in Moscow really value the sacrifices of others on their behalf.

If the report from the video is true, with the prime minister doing the day to day operations so Putin can run the Ukraine war, tells me 2 possibilities:

1. Putins Generals really are that bad and could not fight there way out of a wet paper bag
2. Putin can't figure out if his generals are lying to him, his rank and file military is a lot worse than he thought, or his military is setting Putin up to be overthrown.

Taking direct control of the war, imo, is dangerous for him to do. If its going to be a coup they have the opportunity coming up shortly with the G20. Putin already confirmed with the host nation that he is attending.

It is possible that claim was made to strengthen the perception of Putin going all the way into Hitler mode.

If true that Putin has taken control of 'running' the war in Ukraine - and I have no reason to disbelieve it - then it just reeks of desperation and megalomania.

Why else would an ex low ranking KGB Officer with no military experience at all assume he can run a military campaign better than trained Staff Generals and Senior Officers?

The similarities with Hitler just keep on stacking up.

Well he did appoint Shoigu to head their MoD and he has absolutely no military experience. It is also possible that should Putin lose the war he is done and this is, as you described, desperation on Putin's part. The way Putin is conducting himself, affairs of state, etc suggest his body was taken over by Hitlers ghost.
