Packaged heat and eat kind of stuff works pretty well with an air fryer. I don't eat that much of that kind of thing but it does work well in that respect. Fries, nuggets/strips, breaded shrimp/fish fillets, all good with an air fryer. My wife likes sweet potato fries cooked in the air fryer, which I have to say worked well. I am not a believer for regular cooking but for things like that, its not bad.

And don’t use oil in air fryers.

It says so in the instructions.

Yes, I meant that as a side note in general, I have seen it used in searing a steak, that kind of thing, just wondering it's properties

Here you go vonclod.

Whilst not essential generally you require about a tablespoon of oil to achieve a similar taste and texture to deep-fried foods from a fryer.

I haven't been able to get Land O Lakes light Canola oil butter blend for a month now. The regular is available, however.
Canada's been hit by some extremely hot weather in summer and brutally frigid winter the last few years. I wonder if that has anything to do with it.

It seems that along with the Ukraine and Russia, we are in for a world of hurt with regards to Canola oil. But on the plus side Macdonalds should be priced out of the market. This guy checks out stuff we should be bulk buying before the shortages get to be too tedious. But the Canola oil shortage was even a bit quick for him. Seems like the supermarkets are just making the isles look good until they cant.

Or, just maybe, this is all BS.

Then again, I don’t use Canola oil for cooking. Nor do I eat much that’s been prepared with said oil - and I don’t recommend you use it, either.

Finally my better health choices have economic benefit!

My partner is a chef and she has said to me that they cant get sunflower oil , apparently one of Ukraine's big exports
as its also their national flower I believe

AS for nothing to cook ,Scotland is currently overrun by deer
so Im sure we could feed ourselves if it came to a pinch

id just go live in the highlands and hunt deer and fish in lochs to survive
if there were food shortages

id take over an old croft and trade some valuables for some livestock , Id get a couple chickens from my mum
and maybe some sheep from their neighbour I reckon folks would get by , I think youd see alot more farming going on and people just enmass leaving their normal jobs to farm

Sounds like a plan sapien82.

Thing is you would not be the only one thinking along those lines.

Once the food runs out and the inner cities become chaos everyone with the legs still to carry them is going to be headed off out into the countryside in search of livestock and animals with the plan of living off the land.

The Deer wont be around for long, and then they will simply start to eat one other needs must and all that jazz.

well aye and naw , a lot of people will end up dead from the initial panic and violence that would ensue

but for those who plan ahead , they;d already be out of the city setting up shop somewhere in the national parks
if they didnt start already

Ive thought about leaving geo caches in various routes

there would be large numbers starving , but I reckon that people would seek to work with local farmers and work together to feed each other like we used to do back in the day.

The deer are thriving here hence why we have our annual cull
they thrive as there is no natural predators left and the trees saplings are plentiful

My partner and I we have already planned out stuff and have contingency in place plan B and C etc
we have also spoken to some friends who'd throw down with us and start a community.

Id take on an abandoned castle and fix it up , or get a crofting community going

One of my plans was my ancestral island of Pabbay of the Morrison clan
which is uninhabited , but I think there are still wild sheep there , and possibly foul left over from its last inhabitants
its now a nature reserve.

I think we'd survive , you are more than welcome to join us

what survival apocalypse skills you got ?

If we are planning ahead then to remain in the cities is indeed a mugs game.

Might be able to survive on one of the harder to reach outer isles to a fashion.

Skara Brae done all right for a good while after all.

To remain on the mainland might be rather hard slog and going to involve conflicts of all sort until stability or at least a parity where the number of people the land could support is achieved.

Personally i would choose to remain mobile unless i had a really safe and inaccessible place to exist.

I've already worked out my route to the trossachs from Glasgow , my plan is to head south first where i live to linn park and from there out west along the river into the hills and then a big swoop from south to north going west around towns and villages but remaining in the farming belt , get to the clyde crossing at erskine thats the only risky bit , then once across the clyde again go north up the trossachs from there

I could follow the train lines through the city but it could be suicide
hopefully this # never happens

out of all the southside parks linn park is by far the most beautiful to walk around in any season
and watching the seasons change there is very delightful and the views to the west from the hill are amazing on a clear day and the dugs love it.

lots of history in that area , mary queen of scots apparently watched the battle of battlefield( sounds weird typing that )
from the hill there near the small castle.

me and my partner have been foraging there for mushrooms , wild garlic , and berries and some other stuff that you can eat. You just need the knowledge of Scottish plants and anyone can survive just like our ancestors did.
The earth has enough to care for and feed us all.
Maybe we arent meant to be in big cities doing mad stuff with with technology, maybe our station in life is a simple caretaker for our beautiful home!

back to to the trees we go!

Well its a beautiful sentiment if nothing else.

Personally i see humanity as more of a virus these days considering our days of living in harmony with nature and the land are long gone.

End up with a third world war all the same and we may not have much of an option but to return to nature or rather what's left of her.
