Which part? An addict forgetting what they had done fits. Plus lest we forget if it wasn't for his daddy bailing him out of trouble so many times, Hunter would have fallen victim to Darwinism! The idea he could screw-up with no one to fix it isn't hard for me to accept. Although if we want to go back to the imposter angle, how about someone who looked like Hunter? Neither do I. But, I have found several scenarios which would answer the puzzle.

1. Laptop stolen, taken to the shop for repairs and left by a guy that looks similar to Hunter. Q sting!

2. Hunter on illicit drugs drops it off in a daze, gets remorse when he comes down from his high, but is too scared to go and retrieve it.

3. Some dude or dudette steals it, gets scared and drops it off at the shop in the hope that Police are called but don't personally want any more to do with it because they would be offed.

One other possibility is he got tired of all the crap his dad had put him and his family through and he essentially turned it in on his own. He could have quite possibly started to feel the heat and at least in my opinion from the videos I have seen he was for sure paranoid. Maybe he thought he could get a deal by cooperating early on
