Just announced on Sky news UK from Reuters that US is sending 30 odd Black Hawks to ? and 10(?) from Greece to Poland. That'll be minus the 2 that crashed at home then. 800 combat troops being sent to NATO(?).
I'll have to double check. Apparently US Foreign chappie just announced it.

No but they will be in Poland and in harms way. This should have been done months ago to stop an incursion. Not now.

After the debacle in Afghanistan where our own government and UN recognized the terrorists we have been fighting for twenty years you really think any of this ends well? What does Putin do when a US aircraft is shot down? Or a drone? or maybe another MH017 incident....

"Russian Peacemakers."

Comedy gold.

Same goes for NATO/UN "peacekeepers", they rape, pillage and murder innocents on a grand scale wherever they put their boots on the ground.

U.N. Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said on Tuesday that any Russian troops deployed to eastern Ukraine would not be "peacekeepers" as Moscow has asserted and rejected President Putin's claim that a genocide of ethnic Russians was being committed there

Yeah Russia is in trouble

Holy sh*t I'm convinced the Russians are deeply concerned by the Canadians turning up with a few tug boats and Mounties

Three Russian guided-missile cruisers have been arrayed across the Black Sea and the Mediterranean Sea to counter three NATO carrier strike groups, causing concern in the Pentagon, a U.S. defense official told USNI News on Tuesday.

As of Monday, the three Slava-class cruisers were operating in and around the Aegean Sea – RTS Moskva (121) in the Black Sea, RFS Varyag (011) south of Italy and RTS Marshal Ustinov (055) off the coast of Syria, near Russia’s naval base in Tartus.

Moskva is based in the Black Sea, while Marshal Ustinov traveled from the Northern Fleet and Varyag from the Pacific Fleet. Ustinov and Varyag entered the Mediterranean from opposite ends earlier this month.

The three 11,500-ton Slavas were designed around launchers that can hold 16 SS-N-12 Sandbox anti-ship cruise missiles – each about the size of a telephone pole. Developed in the 1970s, the Slavas and the Sandboxes were designed to take on U.S. and NATO aircraft carriers by overwhelming them with a barrage of high-speed cruise missiles to sink ships.

The position of the cruisers around the Aegean is a complication for the U.S., Italian and French carrier strike groups that have been operating in the Mediterranean the last several weeks.

Who knows if this is true or not, but it does make sense. Even if those are not the exact positions of those units, one can bet that they are out there somewhere patrolling for this very reason.

The media is going full force right now to blame 45 for Russia right now before Biden is expected to make remarks.
Then, they are going even further and saying that the GOP is supporting the Russian invasion.

Does anyone else remember this gem?

Yes I remember, and this has been front & center in my mind for the past few days/weeks.

The strangest thing seemed to happen circa 2016.

After reaping the benefits of downplaying Russia's threat as a geopolitical adversary, and advertising a rapprochement with Russia (BIG RED RESET BUTTON!)....suddenly....Russia was a bad guy again at that moment of time, and it's been that way ever since.

Huh, what was that thing that happened in 2016 again?

I just remember that there was, at about that time, increased scrutiny on another rival of the U.S. on the international stage, both economically and militarily. Remember as another member keeps drilling it home in this thread, Russia's GDP is less than that of some U,S. states, but gosh, it seems like we've pivoted back to a Cold War footing again.

Russia's image here in the U.S. seems to be a marriage of convenience that has really benefited some select few in the political arena.

But again...all of this hubbub....for a country with "economic output less than California"..,.in the context of a border disagreement that goes back even far before 2014, which was just the latest in a series of confrontations between Russia and Ukraine.

It's very interesting that the subject of Russia always seems to come up at very opportune times for some here in the U.S.

Like in 2016.

And like now.

As the pandemic fatigue is to the point where local and regional governments are caving under pressure to ease the wartime footing on COVID, suddenly the Russians popped back up again.

Canada has gone full authoritarian, and there STILL is no adequate investigation and COMPLETE blame for COVID-19, including WHAT ROLE did members of the U.S. CDC and NIAID play in it.

Every day that is spent on this staged outrage is another day for the sheep to forget about what thinned the herd the most in the past 2 years, and another day for the shills to help them forget.

Rolicia’s post mentioned both NATO and UN.

I don’t believe NATO has peace keeping troops but works in conjunction with the UN often.

Eg. “Between 1992 and 1995, the Alliance took several key decisions which led to operations to monitor, and subsequently enforce, a UN embargo and sanctions in the Adriatic and to monitor and then to enforce the UN no-fly zone over Bosnia and Herzegovina. The Alliance also provided close air support to the UN Protection Force (UNPROFOR) and authorised air strikes to relieve the siege of Sarajevo and other threatened areas designated by the United Nations as safe areas.“

Having lived through the Serbia situation, I can assure you the term UN peacekeepers was used thousands of times in reference to the UN blue hat troops their. Rolicia's post clearly was referencing the term "peacekeeper" specifically used to describe UN troops.

The point was clear that mocking Russia's term "peacekeeper" is no different that UN calling their raping troops peacekeepers.
