I think that is not happening now since the Israeli Ambassador to Russia was summoned and bitched at over there comments about Putin/Russia and there actions.

That's the thing though, he backed himself into the corner. The West and Russia were on good terms until the invasion of Georgia. Russia had even considered joining NATO at one point.

After Georgia though, the former SSRs feared they were next and started seeking the defense of NATO.

Its a shame Russia intervened in Syria to prevent Syria becoming another failed state like Libya had became.

It was NATO that rejected their joining to NATO. Russia gave ideas how to beat the taliban in afghanistan, NATO rejected the idea.

And now afghanistan is in full control of the taliban.

No it was Putin. He did not like the fact everyone had an equal voice in NATO and didnt like the fact a country like Belgium could say no.He also did not like the fact Russia had to go through the process of joining NATO.

They saw the real deal. Never trusted NATO again.

In 2020 Azerbaijan invaded Artsakh. Now Russia invades Ukraine. What a time we live in.

Is this a sign that major powers are running out of puppet states and proxies?

Again, reading comprehension flees your grasp.

Ukraine is possibly soon to be was, a puppet state for the US. Putey no likey, he couldnt match the highest bidder.

Point being, Belarus being the closest ally next to China who clearly want their public face to be opposing the invasion.

For Russia I would say no. Russia is hitting Ukrainian units that are fighting back. I dont think Russia expected that.

Defender 2020 now makes a lot of sense. It was supposed to be the largest joint military practice drill since WW2. Google it.
