As for prisoners of war, you can judge the character of their military by how they treat those who can do nothing to them. By treating them with humanity it gives their enemy no reason to treat their own with brutality. However, from the stories I have seen from civilians and Russian POWs, Ukraine's leadership would love to see Russia being abusive because they could use it as a tool to make their own fight to the death.

Is russia threatening to nuke Ukraine if Ukraine doesn't give russia everything russia wants in 'negotiations?
