- 1. The most obvious question about this settlement is why did FOX settle for such an astronomical amount. Did FOX really believe that this was the best they could do?
- 2. For the most part per many Trump supporters’ position, FOX did very little after November 3rd to say much about the election at all... So what actually did FOX say that was so terrible?
- 3. It’s not a crime to report the news. Media outlets often share what others report. Why would FOX feel that their duty to report the news was not a strong defense in this case?
- 4. Why did FOX News and its attorneys believe they would lose their argument that they did not mean to defame Dominion? Actual malice is the standard that Dominion had to meet.
- 5. Why did FOX not rely on the facts from its discovery? Eric Coomer, the former executive of Dominion, and many others had issues with the system, saying “our sh*t is just riddled with bugs”. Is that not totally damning in this case?
- 6. Why did FOX News not rely on the information available on Dominion discovered and reported by The Gateway Pundit and other publications before and after the 2020 Election?
- 7. Why would FOX not demand an audit of the Dominion system by subject matter experts before agreeing to anything?
- 8. Why would FOX News not go to court and present these issues and more?
A top lawyer for Smartmatic, the voting technology company whose defamation lawsuit against Fox News is still pending, said Thursday that he won’t accept any settlement smaller than the $787 million Fox agreed to pay Dominion, and that his client needs a “full retraction” from the right-wing network disavowing the lies it spread about the 2020 presidential election.

But all the nonsense about bamboo fibers, etc., was planted. In part, to create sensational but easily debunked allegations to garner attention, only to be disproven... leading many to think all accusations are debunked. Or, at the very least, that all accusations are equally ridiculous.
It always struck me as more than a coincidence that the election fraud deniers pushed the bamboo fiber theory far more than anyone else.

EXCLUSIV E: Some Key Questions Surrounding the FOX News Settlement with Dominion Voting Machines
I've condensed the questions from GP --

All good questions.
But I still think that this was the plan. Fox "settled" to send a chilling message to anyone else considering reporting the facts and the truth. People are intended to think "If Fox can't win, then no one can."
A new whistleblower alleges that the Orange County Supervisor of Elections (SOE) office has violated Florida election law in myriad ways, declaring that in Orange County elections there is "no accountability from beginning to end."
In a sworn affidavit filed with the Florida Secretary of State's office, poll worker Robin Wheeler alleges that the Orange County SOE office committed numerous violations of state law, including: having poll workers cast ballots for voters after they left the polling site, hiring poll workers from outside the county and state, changing voters' addresses without using the required forms, not accounting for ballots, and letting minors cast ballots for their parents.
Well, this is disappointing news. The Washington Post reported Thursday that “the national Democratic Party has said it will support Biden’s reelection, and it has no plans to sponsor primary debates.” It’s understandable: the Dems have a president, of sorts, and so they’re counting on the power of incumbency to help their superannuated kleptocrat get over the top again. However, it’s also immensely disappointing, because after years and years of Democratic presidential debates being dreary displays of candidates trying to out-socialist one another, 2024 Democratic primary debates would have actually had something to offer.

To not even go with a debate at this stage of the election cycle, the communists look confident.
I hope and pray they're wrong.
If there is one weapon that evil cannot stand against, it is love. The passion that has kept this thread alight is one reflection of it.
As the election gets closer, the pressure of debate will build. There will be a lot of them in the run offs. As for that prime time heavy weight final match, things will never be the same if that disappears.

The new status quo?
After Disastrous Debates in 2020, Democrats Have Decided to Not Hold Presidential Debates in 2024

There was pushback from the Dems when Katie refused to debate -- not much, but it was there.
Do enough Democrats still believe that candidates work for them and demand they at least interview for the job? Or are they happy enough with the echo chamber that tells them to vote for the "D" anyway? I guess we'll find out.
Jeezzz and I was looking forward to hearing Marianne Williamson !!! 😀
