Why would you send an Aircraft carrier to deliver soldiers for urban combat?

Could be part of a MEU (Marine Expeditionary Unit). The carrier could have transported their helicopters as well so they could fly off and land in Israel. Just a guess.

Fleet Forces CO Grady Nominated to be Vice Chairman of Joint Chiefs of Staff

This post has been updated with the official nomination announcement from the Pentagon.

The White House has nominated the current commander of U.S. Fleet Forces Command to serve in the number two position on the Joint Chiefs of Staff, USNI News has learned.

Adm. Chris Grady’s nomination to serve as the vice chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff was submitted to the Senate Armed Services Committee on Monday, two legislative sources familiar with the nomination told USNI News. A notice of the nomination was posted on Tuesday on Congress.gov. The Pentagon released a nomination announcement following an earlier version of this post.

If confirmed, Grady will succeed Air Force Gen. John Hyten, who is set to retire before the end of the month. Hyten, who took on the role in late 2019, was confirmed for a two-year term. Following a change in the law in 2017, the next vice chair is slated to be in the job for four years.

Am I right in inferring that this guy is pretty pivotal to Marines deployments?

If something kicked off over the next week, would Hyten step down earlier and let Grady run with it? Or stay on to end of November. causing a change in command at a crucial point?

The number of connects with Huma during her resurrection and "I'm the victim" book tour is too off the charts to be random. My conclusion, Huma sang like a yellow canary to someone of importance.



Book Deals

Q "Book deals can be lucrative" can point to Huma getting a "book deal" which means she saved her life, and children likely, by ratting. My guess, Hunter is included in that mix too, as nothing in Hunter's life gives me the feeling a hot light, no water and a sweaty large Military Official wouldn't break him in seconds.

Rel, good questions. I'm honestly not savvy enough about Navy organization to answer your first question. The Fleet Forces Command sounds like it supports the combatant commands, but I'm not certain.

Hyten might remain in position and 'coach' Grady as a sort of On the Job Training before Hyten stepped down.

An interesting bit about Grady:

Grady currently holds the title "Old Salt", conferred upon the longest-serving surface warfare officer on active duty in the U.S. Navy.

Notable as well that Grady was commissioned through the Reserve Officers' Training Corps, meaning he was not part of the elite selected early on to attend the Naval Academy. He probably comes from a middle-class background.
