The US force projection was holding that country together and when it was removed it fell apart. It would have fallen apart under Biden, it would have fallen apart under Trump, without the US forcing that government on the people of Afghanistan it would collapse, yesterday, today, tomorrow.

The religious theocracy of the Taliban was the majority of the Afghani's chosen government. The one they chose when the soviets pulled out and the one they have chosen now and would choose anytime the US would have pulled out.

"Taliban crushed the defense forces and didn't really try before"

Taliban didn't really try before because every time they did they were quickly destroyed by air support.

joe renegged on promised air support and taliban recognized that they suddenly had a monumental opportunity.

A gift from joe.

ANA was defenseless without air support.

No possible way for ANA to hold taliban back for long on their own.

Well understood by everyone except joe.

And you.

Think.

But keep trying to defend joe.

I understand that you don't have any choice.

You are getting close now.

Be careful, you might actually stumble into the truth.

Which type of 'US force projection' was recently removed causing ANA defenses to fall apart?

Come on, you know the answer.

Did we suddenly remove a bunch of tanks?

Infantry?

Recon?

Artillery?

NO.

They were were still there.

Some are at the airport this very minute

Joe renegged on promised air support.

Thats it.

Nothing else was necessary to ensure a rapid taliban victory.

Joe knew it when he made the decision.

It is WHY joe made the decision.

No other explanation will hold water.

Pretty silly that you think that was the objective of candy.

Was just something nice to do while walking around to make themselves visible.

Because taliban had no interest in coming out to fight when air support is available.

Taliban is apparently more intelligent than you.

I dont see what he can do different.
It's clear this is what most the Afghani's want so after 20 years of blood and treasure we all need to accept it.

Just make sure they understand not to try blowing up busses over here

What could joe do different?

Are you serious?

Deliver the promised air support so the elected government could defend itself?

You know, that government that actual Afgans voted for.

As opposed to your absurd opinion that most Afgans wanted the taliban in charge.

Or maybe evacuate our citizens and friends once joe made the decision to renege on our air support promise?

You know, so folks wouldn't be so desperate that clinging to a jet becomes their best remaining option?

Or maybe removing all our modern military gear instead of gifting to taliban?

Do you really not understand what joe just did?

Or just pathological need to support the narrative by any means necessary?

How many more years?
How many more of OUR kids?

Was always the mantra.

For good reasons.

Has always been quietly flexible.

Also for good reasons.

Not saying right or wrong.

Just that it is.

White House says they trust The Taliban to provide safe passage of Americans to airport for evacuation.

White House says U.S. Troops are there for airport security only !! 😵‍💫

Down to just flailing around desperation arguments now?

Makes it much easier for me.

How many more years for what exactly?

The promised air support?

Not sure how long it was promised, but was longer than the zero days that joe provided.

To evacuate citizens and friends?

Why wasn't this already done?

Also, by any means necessary, and for as long as it takes.

Keeping troops on the ground?

They were supposed to be gone by may 1, but joe renegged for some unknown reason.

They shouldn't be there now.

THAT is a big part of the problem.

Not paying attention?

How many of OUR kids for what exactly?

How many will perish before evacuation?

They should have been gone already.

How many should remain on the ground?

Pay attention.

Zero.

They were supposed to be gone by may 1.

Suggest you ask joe why he renegged.

What a dumb question.

Afganistan's 65 million citizens have had multiple fair elections.

They did not choose the taliban.

They do not 'want' the taliban as you claim.

Demonstrably false.

Why do you keep repeating this lie?

Or do you need a lesson on how elections work?

As for money to support a free Afganistan?

I don't know.

Probably more than a light rail fantasy project, and less than the value of the military gear that joe just gave to taliban.

I'd be willing to debate the future spending.

That is a reasonable question.

The rest of your post is just dumb.

Can't even get the strawman right.

Just dumb.

Taliban was smart to infiltrate hundreds of key locations in cities before taking the Palace while the U.S. and Allies pulled troops out and left civilians. 👀

Almost like joe set this up intentionally?

I agree, this entire thing is looking more than a little shady.

Why did joe just do this?

Why aren't democrats making it stop?

Doesn't dem propaganda constantly try to convince everyone that they are the party that actually cares about people like this?

We always knew it was false, but do dems really want to give everyone on the planet absolute proof by abandoning 65 million humans to Taliban brutality.

Do dems really not understand what joe just did?

If so, please learn quickly.

If you do understand, wtf are you waiting for?

Speak up NOW.

Except for the IRA, of course. The US is the main signatory to the Good Friday agreement.

“ Lotta of rare earth metals on the line...

China already has the head start we have ground to make up. ”

Got that right! One estimate (updated from a classified KGB Country Assessment from the 80’s) says that Afghanistan is sitting on something close to $1 Trillion in precious metals, gemstones and rare earth metals. China—not the U.S.—got approval from the former president of Afghanistan, Hamid Karzai, to mine those deposits. Funny, one of the FIRST things the Taliban said was that they’d honor those contracts.

Great….Now we’ll have filthy rich Jawas from the 7th Century causing as much mischief as they want.
