Alexander the Great of Macedonia did a good job. Cleopatra was a direct relative down the line.
Lawerence of Arabia had workable solution...but there was no follow up and removal of the guns. It was sorta lampshaded in Star Trek TOS Friday’s Child and again strongly in A Piece of the Action.

Like Pompeo said, the Taliban knew, and were told, they would be crushed if they did not abide. There were rules to the pull out and for Biden to blame that policy when he is removing so much is a joke in itself. The Taliban saw what happened in Iran. Syria. 45 fulfilled his promises to wipe ISIS/ISIL off the map. Moved the embassy.
Anyone could have handled this better. Anyone. 46 screwed this up and I cannot believe there are actually people that are OK that the Taliban are now in charge of a country.

The promised air support would have been more than enough.
Taliban would cease to exist in less than a week of out in the open like their recent attacks with U.S. air support.
Turkey shoot.
It is exactly why Taliban didn't try it until air support was withdrawn.
joe did this.
Intentionally.
Could still fix it if he wanted to.
He does not.

Not possible when hiding in tribal territory.
Not even challenging when out in the open for large attacks like what we just witnessed.
Turkey shoot.
Only thing causing it to take more than a few minutes is all the trips back to base for reloading.
Dream scenario.
Think desert storm.
Not quite as out in the open as iraqis, but a lot less armor and air defenses.
And a much smaller enemy force.
Desert storm was 30 years ago.
We are much better at everything now.
(Except joe)
Taliban isn't a tiny fraction of the challenge iraq's forces posed.
Out in the open for attacking?
Turkey shoot.
Killed as quickly as we could rearm planes.

Believe what you want. The troops we trained would have still dropped their weapons just like they have now. Air support, no air support. They didn't even fight really. If they did fight they were overwhelmed and would always be overwhelmed.
I get it your a partisan, you want to believe your party would have been successful. It's just not reality.
