Not surprised.
When my wife worked monitoring the growth and weight of children in rural Guatemala I did meet these "type" of people. I just couldn't tell you what their names were, not that it would make any difference if I could.

Have we finally entered the age of daily soft serve nutrition paste? Most bugs are superfoods, you know.
Sounds pretty tasty. Bug paste on toast with bruschetta on top. Mmmmmm. A grilled breakfast burrito with fluffy eggs, fresh garden salsa and avocado, rice and beans, and maggot chorizo, all wrapped in a homemade tortilla. Delicious and nutritious.

Given the state of factory farming, eating bugs is probably healthier than eating a lot of the cheap or processed foods that you find in American stores and restaurants.
A lot of American meat can't be exported to places like Europe because of all of the chemicals, preservatives and additives that are used, and because of the poor hygiene standards. Only last year the big food retailers in England declared that American chickens didn't meet the basic standards for sale and that none of them would import it. Even the budget retailers agreed that the health implications didn't justify the low prices.
