My point is that the "future" isn't "now", as you claimed.

While it is probably true that such a plutocracy under Gates would be abysmal, you saying he has that power "now" is flat out wrong.

The world being ruled by any one person is not a good idea, and you don't have to wear a tinfoil hat to agree with that.

While such a situation is one that everyone should fight to avoid, the claim that Gates is even close to that is unsubstantiated and the appeal you are making is based on hyperbole.

It's more about stopping the ball before it rolls out of control, but right now Bill Gates has more power than any one person should ever have. Way way more. I'm don't have time to provide links right now, but plenty of threads right on here outline his Inspector Gadget-like reach.

I'm not trying to rain on your thoughts brother, maybe I'm being a jerk, but I just gave my opinion, that I did not think choice was going to be removed from me, or you. I'll give you one reason why I believe that. The food companies!! you think these giant conglomerates are just going to fold? How big is the food industry, bigger than Gates my friend!

As long as we continue to live in a capitalist economic system, you're probably right and chances are we don't have much to worry about.

Though if Microsoft is any indication of Bill's willingness to share the market we might be in trouble

Hey..it's all good, this is what it's about, nothing wrong with having thoughts and putting them out there. I'm a poor communicator sometimes. My 1st though on this subject was, no way General Foods, or Post..etc are never going to let go. And like I said to Ketsuko, I don't even want to know Bill Gates stuff, because..just one more thing I'm powerless over.

Now, 10 or 20 years from now, who knows what state our world could be in. There could be serious problems, I mean, there already is. I worry about the Bee's, the changes in our ocean..I don't like to fear monger, but I'm not super excited for our future. So, in the end, you could be right, out of some necessity, more people may be eating alternate forms of protein. That or Soylent Green!

I pray we get our sh#t together before it comes to that.

Id rather eat people. But not brains of course. Say no to kuru.
