They wanted demolition but there is no evidence for such. It is far simpler and there is less risk of discovery just to let the planes hit. One concept was that fires weren't hot enough to melt steel. The posts on Telegram by Ghost Ezra about demolition and a cruise missile hit on the pentagon are playing to the conspiracy people for support. It would have been believable had GE said that the hijackers were facilitated by the deep state to attack in order to hide something.
