In a major power grab of dubious constitutionality, the U.S. military last week claimed for itself the power to act unilaterally—without the authorization of the President—in case of “civil disturbances,” threatening a 200-year-old system that strictly forbids the military from becoming involved in civilian law enforcement. Seemingly innocuous in its brevity and simplicity, the new rule's chief danger lies in its vagueness:
Federal military commanders have the authority, in extraordinary emergency circumstances where prior authorization by the President is impossible and duly constituted local authorities are unable to control the situation, to engage temporarily in activities that are necessary to quell large-scale, unexpected civil disturbances. Rumors in MI of WHITMER going down from lawsuits and more.
A Democrat Michigan state representative admitted to her constituents this week that a string of settlements Governor Gretchen Whitmer (D) has approved with former appointees is “concerning.”
The Detroit News reported last week that Whitmer’s administration had made settlement agreements with various appointees of hers, including former Michigan Department of Health and Human Services Director Robert Gordon; his former deputy, Sarah Esty; and former director of the state Unemployment Insurance Agency, Steve Gray.
Republicans have claimed that this was “hush money” that was paid out to former top appointees to stop them from talking about their experiences in her administration. During a virtual meeting with her constituents, state Rep. Laurie Pohutsky (D) was asked about these payments.
Former Bolivian interim President Jeanine Áñez was arrested on Saturday after the country's Attorney General's Office issued arrest warrants the previous day against Áñez and five ministers from her former cabinet.
In a series of tweets, Áñez said, "In an act of abuse and political persecution the MAS [Movement Towards Socialism] government has ordered my arrest." She added: "It is accusing me of having participated in a coup that never happened. My prayers for Bolivia and for all Bolivians."
Political tensions in Bolivia have been high ever since the contested 2019 election, in which former President Evo Morales was declared winner but international watchdogs alleged the results were fraudulent and the election was annulled. Morales, who led the country for almost 14 years as the first indigenous president, claims he was ousted in a coup.
Tensions continue to rise on the streets of the Bolivian administrative capital La Paz, with angry crowds accusing authorities of fraud in Sunday’s presidential election.
Preliminary results released hours after polls closed Sunday showed a tight margin between Morales and former leader Carlos Mesa, which would have prompted a runoff vote in December. To avoid another round of voting, a candidate needs a 10-point advantage.
But opposition groups and international observers grew suspicious after election officials stopped the count for 24 hours Sunday without any explanation. When counting resumed, Morales’s lead had jumped, making him certain to be an outright winner.

if one considers the known evidence of Israeli prior knowledge of 9/11, the Odigo text messages and the five arrested Mossad agents, for example, as indicative of Israeli state involvement in the crime, the identity of the hidden power behind the cover-up is rather obvious. The "hidden hand" suppressing the information about 9/11 would have to be a high-level person in the Israeli political-military intelligence establishment who has very close relations with media kingpins like Murdoch, Levin, and Eisner. Arnon Milchan (a.k.a. Milchen) is such a person.
While millions of Americans have watched his films, such as Pretty Woman and JFK, very few know that Arnon Milchan is a "best friend" of Shimon Peres (born Szymon Perski in Wiszniewo, Poland) the Israeli president and godfather of Israel's nuclear arsenal.
Milchan's 40-year friendship with Peres, the man who oversaw the illegal development of Israel's nuclear weapon program, is key to understanding Milchan's career as an undercover operative, weapons procurer, and film producer. The fact that Milchan, the Hollywood producer, has been Israel's "foremost weapons procurer" for decades, brokering deals for "everything from nuclear triggers to rocket fuel to guidance systems," is seldom mentioned in the U.S. news media.
This is probably due to the fact that Milchan is also a "best friend" and business partner of Rupert Murdoch. He is also a friend and business partner with Levin (Warner Brothers) and Eisner. "I consider him one of my best friends," Milchan said about Murdoch, "and I think vice versa. We're having a ball. He's a very cool guy."
