I have a spooky, synchronistic Christmas tale to tell... Where's Waldo?

Some of you will recall that we spent quite a few pages of an earlier thread looking for WALDO on one of the I-roads traversing America.


Whilst looking after my bed-ridden mother, earlier in the week, she gave me my Christmas presents; which were by necessity inheritances rather than purchases.

One of these was a 1913 book entitled WHAT ALL THE WORLD'S A-SEEKING by american RALPH WALDO TRINE; whose writings were a great influence on both Queen Victoria and Henry Ford (see link).

AS she gave it to me she said "I found this on the bookshelf and in 50 years I've never noticed it before! It must be from when your dad was a Sufi and set up the commune... something is telling me to give this to you now!"


The book is split into 6 parts:
THE PRINCIPLE
THE APPLICATION
THE UNFOLDMENT
THE AWAKENING
THE INCOMING
CHARACTER BUILDING THOUGHT POWER

I'm going to quote the first page of THE AWAKENING because it is both prescient of what occurred after it's writing and it resolves down to a nutshell how we must change to improve the future for all:

To the fellow man.

SOCIAL problems are to be amongst the greatest problems of the generation just moving on to the stage of action. Let this great principle of service, helpfulness, love and self-devotion to the interests of one's fellow men, be made the fundamental principle of all lives, and see how simplified these great and all-important questions will become. Ay, they will almost solve themselves. It is the man all for self, so small and so detestable that he can't get beyond his own selfish interests, that has done more to bring about this state of affairs than all other causes combined. Remove the cause, and then note the results.
