Not sure if you saw my reply to your comment yesterday that the virus is not found in blood

"Twenty patients had two to six specimens collected at the same time. Viral RNA was detected in single specimens from six patients (respiratory specimens, feces, or blood). Seven patients shed live virus in respiratory specimens, 5 in feces (2 of whom did not have diarrhea), and 2 in blood."

www.cidrap.umn.edu...

I did, but at this point the virus load in the blood (which is small) makes it unlikely that mosquitoes could transmit it.

That would certainly make me feel better if it wasn't for the uncomfortable thought that it appears that many things about this CCP Virus were considered to be unlikely before they became likely.

It will be interesting when countries with their little thermometers checking for temps open their cities back up for work. China is already in a second wave according to some reports and now this:

The CDC is now "actively looking into" into universal COVID-19 testing at Pine Street Inn homeless shelter.

The broad-scale testing took place at the shelter in Boston’s South End a week and a half ago because of a small cluster of cases there.

Of the 397 people tested, 146 people tested positive. Not a single one had any symptoms.

"It was like a double knockout punch. The number of positives was shocking, but the fact that 100 percent of the positives had no symptoms was equally shocking,"

Interesting, and for the laymen.

Hypoxemia:

Your blood carries oxygen to the organs and tissues of your body. Hypoxemia is when you have low levels of oxygen in your blood.
Hypoxemia can be caused by a variety of conditions, including asthma, pneumonia, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). It’s a serious medical situation and requires prompt medical attention.

Diffusion impairment:

When oxygen enters the lungs, it fills small sacs called alveoli. Tiny blood vessels called capillaries surround the alveoli. Oxygen diffuses from the alveoli into the blood running through the capillaries.
In this type of hypoxemia, the diffusion of oxygen into the bloodstream is impaired.

How is hypoxemia treated?

Treatment will depend on how severe your hypoxemia is.

Oxygen therapy may be needed for activity, such as exercise. You may need oxygen only when you sleep. Your healthcare provider may have you use oxygen all the time if you have severe hypoxemia.
Pulmonary rehabilitation (PR) may be ordered if the cause of your hypoxemia is related to certain conditions, such as COPD. PR consists of exercise training and nutrition and disease education. You will learn ways to conserve (save) your energy and develop a breathing action plan. PR also offers counseling and support groups.

CDC says that you can’t get coronavirus from grocery packaging.

Let me get this straight.

We know that the virus survived on surfaces for 17 days on that cruise ship.

Now the guys that told us not to wear masks because they don’t help... are telling us that we can’t catch the virus from contaminated surfaces.... but they urge us to wear masks to the grocery store and wash our hands?

Pardon me if I choose not to trust the CDC.

Their advice is so bad it's as if they *want* us to die. At best, they're lying propagandists.

On a side note, did you hear what happened to her? I’m asking cos I’ve got an autoimmune disorder too (seronegative inflammatory arthritis)

Amazon is utilizing thermal imagery cameras at warehouses to monitor fever(high temperatures )of it's staff. A good idea but also has an orwellian flavor to it. I could see this being set up everywhere and when someone registers high temps a squad is deployed to remove them. Maybe I have just watched too many dystopian-esque movies.

Perhaps as we begin to come out of quarantine and reopen businesses one of these could be used at entrances. I guess it's not a bad idea as this thing persists. I could see them being useful at airports and I would rather someone be identified as having a fever before sharing an encapsulated multi hour ride with them and that goes for me too if I had a fever.

Did he do it? Only an egomaniacal megalomaniac living in a fantasy nightmare world made real by nepotism and fear would risk making such a statement before releasing this virus.... So I guess there’s a chance it’s true.

To me it says they’re on the corporate governments script of prioritising the economy, I.e. making the curves as short and sharp as is plausibly deniable.

Why did consecutive first world leaders delay lockdown despite seeing the shocking evidence for it in China, then Iran, Italy, Spain, the U.K. these folk, no matter how dumb they act and anything but and are surrounded by pretty smart chaps ready with all the possible scenarios.

Long a-symptomatic infection periods make his a really, really bad idea. The false sense of security it’ll provide will cause far greater infection.

Kim Jong Un absent amid North Korea anniversary celebration
thehill.com...

Has he got the virus?

Oliver Hotham, managing editor of specialist news site NK News, agreed that North Korea has probably had cases. "It's very unlikely that it has seen no cases because it borders China and South Korea. [Especially with China], given the amount of cross border trade and the economic relationship I really don't see how its possible they could have prevented it," he said. However, he adds that it is "unlikely" there is a full scale outbreak. "They really did take precautions early. I think it's possible they've prevented a full on outbreak."
www.bbc.co.uk...

In this light is it really likely that their mollycoddled leader is one the unlucky ones that got infected? It’s possible, but if not, then why is this showman missing these opportunities to gloat about how he and his country are doing so much better with the virus than the world at large?

Looks like there is now a downward trend in Spain what with only 410 fatalities yesterday. Lets hope it continues. Maybe by the end of May the deaths will be in tens rather than hundreds if not single digits.

- 12h51 : " It's not a given that we will make a vaccine ", says Sir James Farrar (British Medical Researcher, previously a professor of tropical medicine at the University of Oxford ) :

Sir Jeremy Farrar, a member of the UK Government's Scientific Advisory Group for Emergencies (Sage), said he thought the UK was past the peak of the "first wave" of the virus but warned that if lockdown measures were lifted too soon the virus could come back in a few weeks.

The infectious diseases expert was hopeful the restrictions could be eased within about three or four weeks if the number of infections dropped "dramatically".

He told Sky he was "optimistic" about finding a vaccine for Covid-19 but acknowledged: "The truth is we don't have another vaccine for any other human coronavirus."

He added: "It's not a given that we will make a vaccine."

TBH I don't think you need to keep posting those updates on worldometers daily. Pretty sure most posters here go to worldometers to check stats!

For me personally, I just scroll straight over your posts!

It's also a cut and paste job for you daily. The amount of time it takes, you could be doing something else worthwhile.

Just saying... don't attack me.

If a vaccine cannot be found are the implications of this once the outbreak, at least in the US and Europe, are under control that there is likely to be annual (multiple) outbreaks requiring 1 or 2 mini lock downs a year, like flexible occurring holidays.

I don't mind doing it, yes it takes about 30mins for the evening ones.

I try and get them all uploaded before I post, so anyone can just scroll right past if they want to.

It also creates a log over time of the data, two points daily, one when Europe has generally finished updating (Just before 8pm BST, 9pm here), and the other just before 7pm EST for the USA (mainly because thats just before 1am here, and before the midnight GMT reset on Worldo).

If anyone has any complaints about the posts, or any post, report them to the Mods, and let them decide what to do.
(Click on the little green man on the left under the poster's information, and then 'Alert').
I suppose if they get enough, they'll let me know.

I really appreciate the posts by people from places where we usually don't get any local info, Asia, South America, South Africa, Australia and New Zealand, and USA state info, and elsewhere.
