I came into direct contact with people every single day , and I was never in any fear and do you know why?

and this is why the USA will have the highest mortality rate per head of population in the western world.

Is that what you want?

Its not a question of what I want. If people want to mingle and think the virus will not effect them then this will happen. Its simple cause and effect.

The question you should be asking yourself is this what you government wants.

Why did the USA spend nearly two months doing nothing whilst other countries acted.

Why the long wait on tests

Why the lack of advice from the CDC

Why ignore WHO guildines

Why wait nearly two months before ordering ventilators.

Why fire nurses and doctors for speaking out again lack of PPE

Why not more stringent isolation.

Some countries acted fast enough to curtail this. China / South Korea / Thailand to name some that did well. Others stood by like headless donkeys and watched the graph rocket. The USA being in the lead in this respect.

NY state didn't lockdown until march 22 and I'm thinking many small towns are probably not in full isolation mode, we are talking almost a month later.

And they paid some of that price for being late. In the NW we been locked down a good while now from big cities to small towns. I guess what doesn't seem right to me is the US shows 520k tested positive and only about 30k show recovered while my worker and wife are full recovered.

So even in NYC they should only now be seeing lower number of cases that happened after Mar 22 and most of even those should be close to resolving. Any transmissions prior to Mar 22 should mostly be over or dead by now...

I agree transmissions will still happen but it should be dropping off very quickly after Apr 6th.

Per capita, deaths per million 11 APR:
Spain- 338.85 or 0.033885%
Italy - 311.78
France- 202.18
UK- 131.96
Europe total- 92.86
Sweden - 86.14
US - 56.73 or 0.00567%
Portugal - 40.66
Denmark- 42.64
Germany- 30.36
S.Korea -- 4.06
Japan- 0.70

Sweden, S.Korea, and Japan all resisted mass lockdowns.

We've got a long way to go to catch up to some of those. Especially as they are now saying this is the peak week. Not going to happen barring some unforeseen circumstance like the virus mutating in America.

Right but you said the country is in full isolation mode and that is not true. Your state might have locked down soon but there are areas in the rest of the US that still have not or maybe they have only recently taken measures. They will probably also pay the price for being late.

New cases seem to be dropping in NYC. So, there is that, but I'm guessing new admissions into hospitals and deaths will continue for some time. I don't know how long it really takes to recover or die.

Our President tried to act quicker and was called racist, and China acted so quickly because they new exactly what was happening , it took them two monthes to come up with there version of the truth.

There were no test at first outside of DNA/RNA test which take for ever, this virus was bran new what do you expect?

The CDC was working off the mis-guded advice given from China about a virus that know one new anything about?

The WHO is a Socialist organization , there guidelines simply dont fly in the USA .

We would have needed to be able to see the Future to order ventilators any quicker than we did, Know one new the Virus was going to attack the lungs the way it did . Your asking the impossible

Fire nurses and health care workers ?? what proof do you have of that besides MSNBC

We are not a Communist nation you cannot point a rifle at our heads and force us to do anything including quarantines.

Guy your delusional , China acted so quickly because they started the whole d a m n thing and then lied about it leaving the rest of the world to catch up on the truth.

You sound like one of the talking heasds in MSNBC, your argument is with China not the USA or anyone else.

WHO did not label it a pandemic until Mar 12 and most parts in the US was shut down within 10 days of that, so I'm not sure what you mean by 2 months. Trump travel restrictions from China happens on Feb 2 almost 6 weeks before WHO called it a pandemic. Community transmission in the United States was first reported Feb 12th.

Why the long wait on tests

Lag time in engineering and production, or was there 500 million specialized COVID-19 test kits produced before it was even known about?

Why the lack of advice from the CDC

Lack and late information out of China... You do know China shut down all communications...right?

Why ignore WHO guildines

What were those guidelines and when did they announce them when they didn't even call it a pandemic until Mar 12th? Going to their site most of their guidelines are dated end of Mar first part of Apr.

Why wait nearly two months before ordering ventilators.

Do we have a ventilator issue? BTW order from who? Once again like test kits, who had 100,000s sitting on a shelf somewhere waiting?

Why fire nurses and doctors for speaking out again lack of PPE

You need to provide more information here. BTW who did the firing if any?

Why not more stringent isolation.

Like what? Go all China like with soldiers with shoot on sight orders...lol what do you mean here?

Some countries acted fast enough to curtail this. China / South Korea / Thailand to name some that did well. Others stood by like headless donkeys and watched the graph rocket. The USA being in the lead in this respect.

How about Sweden and Mexico, both have done nothing yet... BTW the countries you picked are all very close to China, and being Asian, things like Masks are already deep in their culture. They also do not travel much and they typically work and live within walking/biking distances... So many factors here...

Trump travel restrictions from China happens on Feb 2 almost 6 weeks before WHO called it a pandemic

Don't forget that it was announced in late January, and the WHO (and DNC talking heads) opposed a travel ban because it increased stigma.

Tedros, as he is called, said the WHO does not recommend limiting either trade or travel to China at this time. “In fact, we oppose it,” he said. The health organization said it would question border closures, quarantining of airplane passengers who aren’t ill, and similar steps. Some regions have taken such measures, including Hong Kong, which has sought to limit transportation to the Chinese mainland. British Airways and American Airlines said this week they would halt or limit flights to China as well.

Tedros also called on countries to combat false information about the virus circulating on social media, including Twitter. “This is the time for facts, not fear; for science, not rumors. This is the time for solidarity, not stigma,” he said.

Second, we reiterate our call to all countries not to impose restrictions inconsistent with the International Health Regulations.

Such restrictions can have the effect of increasing fear and stigma, with little public health benefit.

To different degrees. How are people following the guidelines during their essential needs run? I read a post a couple days ago of people not wearing masks or not keeping their distance in check-out lines and such.

So even if some measures were ordered, just how well those orders were followed makes a difference.

I don't know the whole country but where I live you might get shot if you get within 6 feet of someone. We go to the store once per week and people keep social distance in line waiting to go in and while in the store. Costco only lets in 10 people every 5 mins or so, and directs people to the cashiers, AND you stand there until the cashier is totally complete with the customer in front of you and wipes everything down first before you can put anything on the belt. They also have plastic shields in front of them and they do not touch your CC.

Masks were about 25% last weekend, I bet over 50% now as places make them mandatory.

To be honest this is about max as anyone can get unless we are talking something like Ebola type of event.

Outside of that people go no where mostly. Stay at home binge watching Netflix. All my friends around the country have been stay at home for over 3 weeks now.

Feb 2 he was a racist and xenophobic, and today he failed because he didn't start earlier... narratives from the left are so funny at times.

I have noticed one thing that none of the stores I visit wipe down, and thats the Debit/Credit Card machine . How many Hundreds and Thousands of people touch those same buttons every day. These measures are only half measures really if anything its forcing people to congregate at concentrated spots in town, where before we had more choices

That was my point though. Where you are at things might be like that but, as asabuvsobelow posted, it isn't like that where they are at.

The whole this week will be peak week is probably referring to the places in the US that got hit first. The US is a large country and there are 7 states which have, to date, reported deaths in the single digits. They are a lot earlier in the cycle than NY.

They also don't have the population size or concentration.

But yes, each community is going to be following it's own curve.

True but those states, together, will still contribute to the stats and they are not at peak week.

But the dense urban centers are driving the national peak regardless. Smaller communities peaking later, are not going to drive the average. It'll be like the electoral college by population, but more weighted. The international cities on the coasts are going to represent the bulk of the "vote".
