1035 cases...... 56 deaths

www.worldometers.info...

Begs the question, just how accurate are any numbers were getting from all these sites, it doesn't give me much confidence in them.

Numbers will be meaningless pretty soon. But yeah, Uk figures wrong there. 53 more deaths. Closer to 80-90 tomorrow I’d guess.

The Trump Department of Justice has asked Congress to craft legislation allowing chief judges to indefinitely hold people without trial and suspend other constitutionally-protected rights during coronavirus and other emergencies, according to a report by Politico’s Betsy Woodruff Swan. While the asks from the Department of Justice will likely not come to fruition with a Democratically-controlled House of Representatives, they demonstrate how much this White House has a frightening disregard for rights enumerated in the Constitution. The DOJ has requested Congress allow any chief judge of a district court to pause court proceedings “whenever the district court is fully or partially closed by virtue of any natural disaster, civil disobedience, or other emergency situation,” according to draft language obtained by Politico. This would be applicable to “any statutes or rules of procedure otherwise affecting pre-arrest, post-arrest, pre-trial, trial, and post-trial procedures in criminal and juvenile proceedings and all civil processes and proceedings.” They justify this by saying currently judges can pause judicial proceedings in an emergency but that new legislation would allow them to apply it “in a consistent manner.”

Well, well, well. Look at this Rolling Stones story.

Habeus Corpus suspended......

NDAA
The Suspension of Habeus Corpus in America

The Military Commissions Act introduces the notion of enemy into criminal law. It gives the President of the United States the power to so designate not only his own citizens, but also any nationals of countries with which the USA is not at war. A person may be prosecuted as an “illegal enemy combatant” not on the basis of proof, but simply because they have been labelled as such by the executive of the United States. Integrated in the law, the charge no longer refers only to a state of emergency, like the Military Order of 2001, but becomes permanent. The inscription of this anomie into the law establishes the exception as a constant. It mutates the judicial and political order by creating a purely subjective law which is at the entire discretion of the executive.

INSIDE THE U.S. MILITARY'S PLANS TO STOP 'CIVIL DISTURBANCES' AMID CORONAVIRUS PANDEMIC, SOMETHING THEY HAVEN'T DONE IN 30 YEARS

www.newsweek.com...

Seems Pentagon directives were put in place 2019, to basically be able to have martial law without officially calling it.

I agree. And that is apparent in at least one of my posts about it.

Sorry, but I have to disagree to an extent.

When my son went to the doctor and started to caugh uncontrollably, every single hospital personnel in that area donned their masks.

Why would they do that if it offered no protection? They didnt give him one!

Read the links with my post, pls. Directives were put in place several years ago for a situation such as this.
Everyone should be aware. Many of us on ATS were aware when that happened.....

This conversation started with people wearing homemade masks as they go out and about.

Not exactly the same situation.

Go ahead and wear one as you go out and about, if it makes you feel safer.

It's homemade or nothing. There are no masks available to the public anymore.

Well, there it is. Any reason to push NDDA/Patriot act style BS. Nobody should be supporting this BTW. People need to get a GRIP.

It's homemade or nothing.

And probably just as effective. Unless you're wearing all of the other PPE.

But fine, wear it. It can't hurt.

There is a thread here by MotherMayEye about coating masks with salt, and attendant articles as to why this is a good practice. MotherMayEye gives a way to do this, homemade, and perhaps do some good for you.

Yes, they/we....do. However, the pivotal point here is that once emergency federally is declared, it prob isn't any longer up to US to get a GRIP

That's kind of the whole point.

What the hell are they trying to prepare for-
Isn't it obvious?
The complete breakdown of society as we know it.

That is what we are looking at potentially.
It is that serious.

For some it's OK when the president uses emergency powers to divert military funding for a stupid wall.

I see that the courts are involved in that process you're concerned with. Unlikely to happen, in any case.

We have a somewhat similar terrorism act they did here in Australia. Never a good sign when rulers take more power, they have a long history of not giving it back to the people.

Coronavirus Can Live in Patients for Five Weeks After Contagion

Patients with the new coronavirus keep the pathogen in their respiratory tract for as long as 37 days, a new study found, suggesting they could remain infectious for many weeks. In yet another sign of how difficult the pandemic may be to contain, doctors in China detected the virus’s RNA in respiratory samples from survivors for a median of 20 days after they became infected, they wrote in an article published in the Lancet medical journal.
